Windyhall care home is the home of each individual living there. Wonderful staff, food and environment.
From the moment we arrived we were met by friendly, professional and caring people, from the support workers catering staff, nurses and admin and management. My father thought the staff were fantastic
and liked his room, the excellent food (his words). This truly is a place that provides a Home for those requiring support.
My family and I thank you.

My mum recently became a resident of Windyhall and arrived a bit worse for wear after a lengthy hospital stay and transfer. As soon as she arrived, the staff at Windyhall made her so very welcome, tidied her up and got her clean, warm and cosy. Her room was immaculate and the attention to detail with
a welcome card, flowers and lovely bedding, meant a lot to her and myself. Within minutes mum was at home and feeling great.
I cannot be happier with my choice for mum to be at Windyhall and I know she is over the moon herself. Thank you to ALL the team at Windyhall, you are all AMAZING !!

My Dad had been a resident at WIndyhall for 3 years now. It's very much his home. He'll be 99 soon. I would like to congratulate the staff for taking such good care of him. He loves his breakfast and his cups of tea. I'm especially impressed with the outings that he has been on and all the entertainment
and activities. Well done to all the caring and happy staff.

I can only say about the care staff who go that extra mile with helping the entertainments and the care and compassion they show and give to the residents. I would like whoever it is that decides what meals the residents have just to give a thought to the one's who don't have none or partial dentures
when it comes to chewing their food.

Could not ask for better staff, all very caring towards residents. Activities on nearly every day, entertainment also very good. Also outings on regularly. The only negative I have is the price per month which I think is far too much. But that is no reflection on staff, they are all amazing. Mum is
very happy living in Windyhall, she also loves all the staff.

We cannot speak too highly of Windyhall. When we visit we are always greeted with a smile and addressed by name. The home is furnished in a very homely style with an atmosphere to match. It is always spotless with no hint of any unpleasant odour and the housekeeping staff obviously work hard to maintain
the standard. The food is 5 star quality both in preparation and presentation. The standard of care is excellent and we observe great interaction between all staff members and our brother-in-law who obviously feels safe and loved by all. We appreciate the care also shown to his wife who has become part of the Windyhall family. Many thanks to all.

I have only good things to say about Windyhall.
My mum always seems really content and happy every time we visit her. The staff know all the residents really well and are so caring.
If I pop to my mum's room it's always immaculate and smells lovely and fresh.
We knew from our first-ever enquiry
visit that we wanted Mum to go to Windyhall, the initial atmosphere was just so lovely.
I never feel that I have to worry about Mum because I know she's in the best place.

I cannot speak highly enough of Windyhall Care Home. It has a lovely welcoming, homely feel. The staff treat the residents with so much care and compassion and the food, like the care, is of a really high standard. It's the small touches that matter. I noticed from very early on, the care staff all
know our names and we are made to feel so welcome when we visit. I really appreciate that the staff all take time to have a conversation with us, which means we feel included.
Reply from Lynne Conway, Manager at Windyhall Care HomeMany thanks for the positive feedback, as you said small personal touches go a long way in making all feel welcome and included which is the ethos of our company values.

Windyhall is an absolutely fantastic care home. Not only do they look after my gran wonderfully, they take time to speak with my grandpa every day and the staff have become great family friends. My gran has advanced dementia and moved into care during the pandemic when you could not visit the care home
prior to admission. From phoning around and looking at reviews of various care homes in Ayr, I could tell there was only one that would fit the bill and the whole team made what was an extremely stressful time so much simpler. They could not do enough for us, then and to this day. The facilities are spotless, the activity schedule is brilliant and your relative is looked after as though they are one of their own. Some people do not understand the impact a relative going into care has on the rest of the family, particularly a spouse. Windyhall has been the most excellent support to my grandpa during this time and we are so grateful he has everyone looking out for him too.
Reply from Lynne Conway, Manager at Windyhall Care HomeMany thanks for taking the time to leave this very kind feedback, I am delighted to be able to share this with the staff as they do go above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome and part of the community that is Windyhall.

Windyhall Care Home is a lovely homely care home. Mum is always treated with respect and compassion. The staff are so caring and have supported her well over the past few weeks (having just lost her beloved husband of 65 years).
Sometimes the only problem for mum is having no other resident to engage
with. She cannot speak but understands everything, and the majority of the other residents she is sitting with have some form of dementia and cannot converse with her, unfortunately. I appreciate that this is an issue that is not easily resolved. Hopefully, it may change.
Reply from Lynne Conway, Manager at Windyhall Care HomeMany thanks for the review. I will pass this on to all staff and try to engage mum in activities with those who are able to converse.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.775)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.775) out of 10 for Windyhall Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.900 for Windyhall Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (153 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 170 Ratings = 4.9
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Windyhall Care Home is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 29 registered maximum number of service users is 5.8, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
