Being newly refurbished, Harestane's facilities are second to none. Throughout the refurbishment process they constantly asked themselves 'What will truly benefit clients and what will make this a real home from home?'. They feel that the results speak for themselves. With four modern, attractive, homely lounges, two of which have french doors leading directly to the beautiful gardens. There are electric recliner chairs for added comfort and even Nintendo Wii consoles just in case anyone feels like a spot of tennis. There are two quiet lounges where clients can enjoy there newspaper or favourite book as well as two family lounges equipped with comfortable couches, a dining area and tea and coffee making facilities for the use of visiting families. These are ideal should visitors wish extra space when visiting with grand children and extended family. The bedrooms have been decorated to the highest standards, all with modern en-suite facilities. Every bedroom in Harestane has a view of the large landscaped gardens. Rooms are equipped with hotel style furniture and luxurious curtains. Clients are encouraged and helped to personalise their rooms with their own belongings and pictures to make it feel like home. As well as individual en-suite facilities, there are four assisted wet rooms and two assisted bathrooms. A varied programme of daily activities is available for clients enjoyment. Nursing and care staff are on duty 24 hours a day. On going training from induction to further professional development is an integral part of the Home's philosophy to continually improve standards of care. Qualified catering staff provide varied menus which are assessed for nutritional value and dieticians are consulted whenever specialist dietary requirements arise. Clients are consulted on arrival at the home regarding food likes/dislikes and this is reviewed with them.

My wee granny has been a resident here for nearly a decade. We have got to know many staff and residents and have been happy with the consistent care on offer. We take comfort in the Care Inspectorates annual assessment of the care on offer, which has consistently sat at 5-very good and is currently
rated 6-excellent. This is exceptionally difficult to achieve given the widely known challenges of the care industry. Dementia is an emotionally difficult journey for us all to cope with, but we have found staff and the manager have always been genuine in their support towards us and importantly our loved one. We're kept informed and included in all decisions and are indeed welcome to join in celebrations and social activities that are on. The home has had the same friendly and efficient cleaners for a long time, who keep the place immaculate. Staff may come and go, however the love, hard work and determination of the Manager that keeps this place going. Thank you all for all that you do!

Mum has been in Harestane for a year now. She is happy and content with a nice sunny room which is kept spotlessly clean (as is the en-suite toilet). We have been able to personalise her room with family photos and other memorabilia. Bedding is changed daily as are her clothes which are immaculately
laundered. She loves the food and menus have recently been updated. The staff are kind and helpful and she is well looked after with a good range of group activities, concerts, and parties if she chooses to join them, as well as one-to-one attention. She has her hair done every week and enjoys that very much. Staff also manicured and painted her nails on occasion. The manager and her staff work hard to make family members feel welcome, providing tea and biscuits in the family lounge and helping us organise birthday celebrations for Mum. Any issues raised are attended to promptly and staff keep me well informed. The staff turnover is relatively low and so mum now knows many of them very well.

In need of renovation. The staff are compassionate but more required as spread too thin. Requires a handyman on site. Wheelchairs in poor condition. The blinds are broken. Windows need replacing. Very little stimulus for residents as staff do not have the time. Cleanliness needs to be improved.

An outbreak of Covid resulted in rapid restrictions with all PPE supplied and available. Strict adherence to all rules was put in place. The staff were careful and supportive to all and took care to implement all restrictions. The staff are all in uniform and easily approached. I find them all very
helpful, approachable and kind, supportive to all clients and visitors.

The care provided is exceptional. It is evident that residents are well looked after and communication with us is very good. The home is well maintained with plenty of staff around. We are very pleased that we chose Harestane for Mum.

Harestane is a friendly home, with fantastic staff and management. We, as a family, feel very welcome in the environment. The manager is very 'hands-on'. In the main, the atmosphere is very good.
