My mum was admitted to Movilla House after having a stroke. My sincerest thanks go to the nursing staff and everyone who works there. Mum has been receiving an excellent standard of care and she is treated with respect and compassion. She loves the daily activities and has made new friends. Mum has
the ability to cheer others up and make them laugh. I take comfort that she's being well cared for and to have that peace of mind means the world to me. Thank you team Movilla x

My mum recently moved into Movilla for end of life care. From the moment we stepped inside the home the day before she moved in (unannounced I would like to add) we were met with such a friendly welcome, kindness and a very professional manner. The care that has been provided to my mum has been exemplary,
all the staff that we have encountered have been so caring, friendly, down to earth, nothing is too much trouble. Such a comfort to know that mum is being so well cared for in the final days of her life. I would have no hesitation in recommending Movilla to any family.

Mum has been in Movilla for over one year. She settled in very well and the staff are all extremely friendly and interactive. They all seem very caring for the residents. Mum's needs have changed over this time and staff have adjusted how they interact with Mum accordingly. We have only one (temporary)
previous experience to compare Movilla to another nursing home and Movilla wins hands down.

Extremely settled in Movilla nursing Home. Staff and residents are like an extended family. I love getting my nails and hair done by the girls and there's always a different activity on which I try to go to. My room's cleaned regularly and the cleaning staff are polite and meticulous. Medication and
meal times run like clockwock. Staff never pass by my room without stopping for a chat or a smile. I've made a lot of great friends at Movilla so far.
Reply from Kathie WALKER, Director of Nursing at Movilla HouseThank you ever so much for the wonderful review, it means so much to us that you are extremely settled in Movilla and feel the staff and residents are your extended family.

I am a resident of Movilla House and I can recommend it to anyone. The care, love and kindness and help to me have been very good been if short-staffed at times. Everyone works really hard and the nursing care is wonderful, also rooms are cleaned each day and chefs are most helpful, choice of 3 on the
menu and can get something more suitable if required. I have been living here since November 2021 and am really happy with all.

My Grandfather moved to Movilla House in September 2024 after living in a residential care home for over a year. As a family, we are so grateful for the care and support that he receives on a daily basis. Seeing the decline of a loved one is very hard but everyone at Movilla has gone above and beyond
to ensure my grandfathers needs are met and that he is comfortable and content.
We can't thank the staff enough for all of their support. It is heart warming to see the rapport they have built up with him and the smile they bring to his face. I feel that Movilla are bringing the best out of my grandfather during often tough and challenging times.

Mum has been a resident of the Home since 29 June 2024 after being in hospital for 5 months with a spinal fracture. Unfortunately, Mum needs 24-hour nursing care as she can no longer look after herself at home or be nursed at home with a care package that would provide the highest level of personal
care and safety she deserves. Mum was welcomed by the staff and settled in after a short period of time due to the caring nature and professionalism of the staff. The staff interaction with Mum makes her feel safe and secure and although Mum is bedbound other Home staff call in with her for chats and to see if she needs anything during the day. It's great the Home has open visiting and is pet friendly as our daily visits with Daisy our small dog can be any time that suits us and are therapeutic for Mum. The food and snacks are excellent. The home's laundry service is excellent and the resident's entertainment provides inclusive fun for all. I would praise all staff for their care.

I was apprehensive about my mother going into a nursing home but Movilla House has put all concerns to rest. The matron and staff are so welcoming, kind and provide excellent care to all residents. The staff are very approachable and will take action if you have any issues. The home is well-maintained
and spotlessly clean. All food is good and nothing is too much trouble if you want something which is not on the menu. I would have no hesitation in recommending Movilla House.

Movilla and its staff has cared for both my parents for the last 3 years. The excellent care and kindness they have both received has been exemplary. Recently, my dad passed away in the home and in his final weeks he was treated with dignity, compassion and loving care from all the staff. Mum continues
to thrive with the care she receives.

My in-laws have both been residents in Movilla House over these past few years, although sadly my father-in-law passed away in October 2023. I cannot speak highly enough of the care that he received throughout his time there, especially during his last few weeks and of course my mother-in-law continues
to benefit from. I have always found the staff to be extremely caring, supportive and friendly while at the same time always professional.

Mum moved into her new room in August, the carers are so lovely and have a really nice way with the residents, there is a hairdresser once a week, a must for my mum and they can get their nails done as well, food is good and also if you feel like something you fancy the chefs will make it for you. A
lot of activities also, I know my mum is in the best place and is safe, they are all given their dignity and made to feel so special.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.592) out of 10 for Movilla House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.817 for Movilla House is calculated as follows: ( (108 Excellents x 5) + (22 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 131 Ratings = 4.817
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Movilla House is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
