She was such a lovely lady, she enjoyed her chats, sweet treats, music and singing and her love of animals was evident as she had the brightest smile when your family dogs or our therapy dogs came to visit. It was our privilege to have been able to bring her home for her last days with you and her family - end of life care can be very difficult to navigate and at Kingsland both myself and all the staff seek to provide a holistic approach during this time ensuring a safe caring and comfortable environment for both the individual and their family. It is greatly appreciated to have that acknowledged in your review. She is dearly missed by us all here as are your visits too.

It was our pleasure and privilege to be able to care for your brother during his time with us at Kingsland. He had a wonderful way of caring for other residents around him and quick to let staff know if he believed someone needed some assistance. He took such pride in his appearance and was always so perfectly well dressed - suited and booted as he would say himself. He enjoyed a good chat with everyone - residents staff and visitors alike and he had a great affection for our activity coordinator. He got involved in all the activities when he was able and when he was no longer able they did Bible Study together which was very comforting for him in his last days with us. He is spoken about frequently and dearly missed by us all. Sincerely.

I appreciate that you acknowledge the workload that staff have and that they do indeed try their best to deliver the best possible care to each resident. Our residents are offered various fluids on 6 regular occasions through the day with their meals and with 3 tea trolleys mid-morning, mid-afternoon and at night. Access to further fluids should be facilitated if there is no fluid restriction in place. Ensuring adequate hydration is a simple basic requirement and something that we are working on as a team to improve across the home through staff education and ensuring easy access to fresh fluids is available daily for residents to utilise and for staff to assist with for those that require support. Please do not hesitate to come and speak with me to discuss any concerns you may have in relation to your father's care as it is important to me that they would be addressed.

Your mum is a pleasure to care for and, despite an unsettled beginning, appears so much more content now with accepting care and with her environment in general. We do our very best as a team to ensure our residents are cared for to the best of our ability. This includes everything from personal care, social engagement and dietary needs to the cleanliness of the resident's room and the home in general. Our activity coordinator strives to include all our residents taking time to do one-to-one sessions for those unable to participate in group activities. Your mum loves a good chat and enjoys seeing what I wear and to feel the fabric when I see her during the day. Her expression "health to wear it, strength to tear it and money to replace it" is lovely and one I had not heard before but will not forget. The setting of Kingsland overlooking the bay is indeed beautiful and the views from the residents' lounges and sea view bedrooms is second to none. Our Activity Coordinator is exceptional and works tirelessly to bring creative and stimulating activities into the daily lives of our residents. He has such a wonderful way with the residents it is no wonder they all love him. As the home manager, I believe a major part of my role is liaising with the family members of our residents to ensure that you are both happy and satisfied with the level of care they receive as well as working through and resolving any issues that arise. My door is always open. I am so pleased that your experience here with us has been a positive one.

It is good the hear that you feel both your mum and your needs in relation to her care are being met. We endeavour to provide a home from home for our residents and as such, that includes supporting families with the transition of their loved one into a care setting and helping them as well as our residents adjust to the new environment, new routines and a new and often unfamiliar way of life.
