Dedicated units support different needs:
Heather Unit supports those with a primary dementia diagnosis, including alcohol-related, early-onset, frontotemporal, or vascular dementia and have complex co-occurring mental and physical health needs requiring integrated care beyond mainstream provision.
Lavender Unit supports those with a primary neurological diagnosis, including brain injury, Huntington’s disease, spinal injury, or stroke and presents with predominant physical health needs, including autonomic dysreflexia, dysphagia, or a respiratory condition. Residents may also have a secondary mental health diagnosis.
Thistle Unit is a male-only environment for those with complex mental health needs arising from a primary mental health or neurological diagnosis, and who display high-risk behaviours of concern, including disinhibited and sexualised behaviour, requiring enhanced observation and structured risk management.
Bracken Unit is not open yet - the profile will be developed in partnership with stakeholders and shaped by local demand.

The home os very clean in the main but I can only comment on Heather where more attention needs to be made tot the residents lounge!

My mum has now been at Wykewood coming up to a year. This is the only home where she has really settled and I don't feel like I have to be there everyday. She is well looked after by the staff. They make you feel welcome when you visit. Nothing is too much trouble.

A special call out to all the carers , their patience, loving and understanding despite my fathers challenging behaviour at times is quite incredible - as a family we know he cannot be in a better place.
Having had experience of at least 5 other care homes, Wykewood is head and shoulders above the rest.

The manager was absolutely amazing. She supported my family through a really difficult time as my mum died due to dementia. The staff were so caring and I can’t thank them enough. She has turned the place around.

All staff - nursing, housekeeping, maintenance and admin - are always welcoming to me, my family and my dog. They treat us with the same love, care and respect as they give to our relative. Although our relative is unable to express his views verbally regarding his surroundings and care, we feel that he knows and appreciates the love, care and respect given to him by all levels of staff. Regular staff on the unit who know and understand his day-to-day and hour-to-hour needs are a credit to them. They show empathy, love and care at all times. Numerous staff changes have caused added stress to these valued carers.
