The entire team at Shalford have been exceptional. We approached them at very short notice with an immediate and unique care requirement for a much loved relative. They responded with compassion, professionalism and urgency. They quickly created a tailored plan, the care since arriving has been excellent. We are incredibly grateful to the whole team, especially the administration team who worked so hard behind the scenes to make everything run smoothly. Thank you!

Mum came to Mill Court for a two week respite stay. Nicola and her team were very welcoming, did a fantastic job of caring for her, and were responsive to feedback. The home itself is new and well-appointed. There are plenty of activities to keep the residents occupied and a good social atmosphere. The stay was a real tonic: we were amazed how much Mum's mental and physical state improved over the period. She will be coming back in the future. Highly recommended.

My family and I have been very impressed with Mill Court. My mum is very happy. She always tells u that the staff are lovely and the food is excellent. When we visit it is a charming place to spend time with her. We never imagined that the move there would be as smooth as it was. (The manager acted very quickly to make it happen)

The reception staff, restaurant servers, carers and management all seem to genuinely CARE about my mum's wellbeing. The Activities team are also great, making lots of effort to include my mum in outings.

Hi, my name is Wiktor Szala. I am the Head Chef at Mill Court.

With two decades immersed in the culinary world, I bring a rich tapestry of experience to the kitchen at Barchester Mill Court. My culinary journey has taken me through the vibrant flavours of English, Italian, and Argentinian cuisines. For three years, I proudly served as Head Chef at Guildford's Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, crafting classic English dishes for discerning patrons. This was followed by another three years at Guildford's CAU Restaurant, where I honed my expertise in the art of Argentinian steakhouse cooking. My passion for Italian gastronomy then led me to London, where I spent two years as Head Chef at The Loft, an Italian restaurant nestled within Sky TV Headquarters. Most recently, my work as an Agency Chef in Surrey's care homes over the past three years has been incredibly rewarding. This experience has deepened my understanding of the importance of providing exceptional and nourishing meals. Marius Sidoriuc
Marius SidoriucJob Title:Activities AssistantJoined: 2024

Hello, my name is Marius Sidoriuc and I am an Activities Assistant at Mill Court.

I joined the Barchester family in 2021, initially as a care assistant and soon after as an activities coordinator. Thanks to our fantastic residents, management team and colleagues, I felt I belonged to an amazing community here, in Barchester.

In September 2024 I relocated from Harton Grange (South Shields) to Mill Court, in Guildford, I worried about leaving behind an absolutely amazing management team, residents and colleagues.

I found here, at Mill Court, the same fantastic atmosphere and support from the management team, residents and colleagues.

I'm so grateful that I had the privilege to fundraising for our wonderful Barchesters Charitable Foundation and I finished the Great North Run half marathon in 2 hours and 9 minutes. Also, through a joint project with a charity in South Shields, we won a grant worth nearly £20k thanks to the National Lottery Funding.

I started my journey in healthcare in 2018. I love to support elderly people, especially those diagnosed with dementia, and to empower them to use all the facilities provided by our company. I completed a few courses on dementia and activities (NAPA, level 2) and I finished a level three apprenticeship in adult care. I have met some amazing people who guided my understanding of dementia.

I like to be part of a whole team, including the fantastic management, hospitality and maintenance departments, promoting a person-centred approach for each resident and I'm glad to know that each person's preferences and abilities are respected and promoted.
