I (and i think i speak for my brother as well) am extremely grateful to have found Greenholme Care home for my parents , although sadly, Dad 's stay was very short -lived. Greenholme House is incredibly well designed offering very comfortable well furnished homely rooms, with superb on-suite facilities which are easily accessible even with a wheelie walker. The home is exceptionally clean, tidy and tastefully decorated throughout with a lovely balance of spaces to enjoy peace and tranquility or to join in with the various activities that were on offer. While residents may choose to eat in their rooms, the dining rooms are elegantly laid out and the food is excellent. While all this is of course fantastic, it is the feel of the place that sets it apart from the rest, the warm and welcoming atmosphere that the staff generate toward their residents and visitors alike, going that extra mile to ensure that everyone is looked after with kindness, dignity and above all compassion. Thank-you

I cannot recommend this home highly enough. My mother has been a resident here, & from the moment she arrived, she has been treated with kindness, dignity & genuine compassion. The staff are exceptional + truly makes this home special. The food is outstanding, with a varied menu. The rooms are bright, comfortable + tastefully decorated, creating a warm + welcoming feeling that feels like home. There is a fantastic range of entertainment + activities on offer. What stands out the most is the overall atmosphere. Rather than feeling like a traditional residential care home, it has the feel of a high - quality hotel. So grateful !!

This is a really excellent care home. The staff are kind, considerate and extremely welcoming - at all times. It has a lively atmosphere with plenty of activities for the residents. Was resident for 2 weeks (respite after hip surgery). On first impressions, new, with very well appointed rooms and great ensuite bathrooms and well furnished communal lounge - dining. Let down enormously by carer shortage - overworked, understaffed. Got my feet washed once (1) in 2 weeks! Meds usually late. No carers available at breakfast to give order to cook! Too busy carers preparing residents for the day ahead. Food a huge let down, at £1,600 a week would have liked more than 1 x glass of wine with my supper/dinner

My mother has now been a resident at Greenholme for around 2 months. It was a struggle to persuade her to move from her home but within a week she was totally settled and is now very happy and her health and wellbeing has improved dramatically. The best thing about the home is the staff, they go above and beyond to make the residents feel welcome by really getting to know them individually so that they can tailor the care and activities to their personal needs and interests. It is a very friendly and welcoming environment and it is a pleasure to visit.

My Mum had 6 weeks of Respite care at Greenholme House recently. It's a beautiful residence with such caring Staff throughout. This was not only the care my mum received, but as regular visitors my Brother and I were made so welcome. The thought of my Mum going into a Care Home, albeit just for respite, really upset us both. But we need not have worried at all. This was a lovely experience for all of us and I know that the success of Mum's recovery after her major operation, is due in no small part to her stay.

Louise began her career as an apprentice chef in the armed forces 32 years ago, where she qualified as a chef at the Army School of Catering. She went on to be posted to a military hospital, and that is where her interest in nutrition and catering for care and wellbeing began. She has gained qualifications in nutrition, dysphasia and modified diets.

Louise believes that catering within the care sector has far wider-reaching benefits than nutrition alone. Dining and food are such an important part of life; she believes that this should not stop when a person enters a care environment. She loves to make high-quality restaurant-style meals, which not only meet the individual needs of residents and family members but also allow family links to be maintained and build social links and friendships. This is enriching for the residents and staff within the home. She feels very lucky to have such a beautiful home and lovely dining facilities at Greenholme Care Home to work with.

In 2023, Louise was a finalist at the Care Awards North region and in 2024, she was a National finalist in the NACC Care Chef of the Year and Finalist in the Danforth Care Chef of the Year, and she was the Winner of the NACC Care Chef of the Year 2025. She is excited for many more competitions in 2026

In her spare time. Louise loves to bake and has a passion for making fresh pasta. She has 3 dogs and enjoys 'bagging' Wainrights in the Lake District with her husband, Rich.
