Amarna House Care Home - Avery Healthcare

from B H (Niece of Resident) published on 2 March 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My uncle has been staying at Amarna House for several weeks now. I can not thank the staff and management enough for all their support with my uncle and myself. Truly caring staff, nothing is ever too much. My uncle is cared for with the up most of dignity and respect.
He is eating all the daily homemade
meals and baking, something he was avoiding at home.
My uncle is so happy, settled and enjoys attending daily activities and trips out.
I visit and leave knowing my uncle is cared for, safe and thriving.
Thank you to all the hard working staff.
Reply from Linda Donnellan-Beevers, Manager at Amarna House Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for your kind words, we are so pleased we were able to help. We always try to go above and beyond to enhance the well-being of all our residents at Amarna House.

Scholars Mews has been such a great home for my mum. She is happy there and we are so grateful to the wonderful carers who all have a real depth of warmth and dedication. My mum's abilities are now limited but despite this the activities team create experiences for her to enjoy. I actually couldn't
imagine a better environment for her. It's a happy place. I love that they go to the effort of decorating to the hilt for Christmas, Halloween, Valentine's Day etc! It puts a smile on everyone's faces.

The staff are kind, compassionate and respectful and never pass her room without waving and talking to her.
Her physical needs are fully met and the well being team provide a wide variety of activities
Family are updated
and included in the activities which include many special occasions.
Meals are nutritious and appealing and clients can make special requests.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mum moved into Chorleywood Manor in August 2025 after a wonderful respite experience in the June. Having had previous experience of Chorleywood I had no hesitation in booking her in for her respite visit for two weeks, and whilst there she had such a wonderful experience that she decided she would
like to become a permanent resident.
The home is extremely clean, the entrance welcoming and the staff are all friendly, approachable and helpful. The food is good, with a lovely variety of dishes on offer, and whilst the staff can be extremely busy nothing is too much trouble for them. Any slight niggles are just that, slight, and there's always someone to check in with to get things back on an even keel.
For me is huge peace of mind that my mum is in a safe, warm and well cared for environment, and for my mum to the knowledge that she is looked in on regularly, and looked after to the highest standard.
Reply from Tracy Moore, Client Liaison Manager at Chorleywood Manor Care Home - Avery CollectionThank you so much for your review. We are very happy that you and your Mum chose us for her new home and more importantly you feel you made the right choice. Your feedback is very much appreciated. We absolutely love having you both as part the Chorleywood Manor family.

Dad went to live at Ashurst Mews on 6th December 2024. He was later re-located to the first floor as he needed more care. All his furniture and belongings were moved with speed and precision. He was later diagnosed with vascular dementia.Through good days and bad, all the staff treated dad with patience,
understanding, and respect. They laughed with him, kept him in check, fed him, bathed him, and ensured he was clean from bowel movements. He was warm, comfortable and safe. Always safe. I was told by everyone that dad was a gentleman and cheerful. They were kind to his low moods. On Boxing Day 2025, he had a lovely day, ate well and laughed with the staff, and went to sleep. He never woke up. Even though I was out of the country visiting my sister, the communication, help and gentleness from the staff was wonderful, as was how I was welcomed and helped when I returned to clear dad's room. I couldn't have wished for dad to live in a better home for his final year of life.

else.

My mother has been a resident since October, after earlier having a period of respite. The decision to house her at Chorleywood Manor was incredibly difficult but we as a family couldn't manage her care needs at home.
From all the homes we visited Chorleywood Manor felt like it had the best community
and homely feel to it. Since mum has been a resident i am confident that she is in good and safe hands. The staff are always friendly, polite and helpful. The food looks to be good and there is a raft of entertainment and events for the residents. I am so far very happy with our choice and whilst i still have a heavy heart and sense of guilt that she is there, I know it's the best place for her and she is well cared for.

I would like to thank the staff at Lavender Lodge for all they did for my mother. The care was first class, and I couldn't have expected more. With low staff turnover, you could get to know people on a more personal basis and this was so much better for my mother than constant personnel changes. Activities
were always offered. The location is safe, right next to a park - great for sunny days and wheelchair accessible. I would recommend Lavender Lodge without hesitation. We were so lucky to get a vacancy and spend our last days there.

Joyce has been a resident at Poet's Muse for 14 months. In that time she has been treated with kindness, professionalism, care and fondness by every member of staff in every job role day and night. Everyone plays an integral part in Mum's stay. Her health, wellbeing and stability are assessed daily and
appropriate action taken along with discussing and informing us at every step.
Mum has thrived since being at Poet's Muse, she is calm , content and happy due to the wonderful care, food, activities, cleanliness and maintenance of her room and surroundings. She loves having her hair done every week. All the relatives are made to feel so welcome day or night and we have been made to feel part of her new family. Grandchildren and great grandchildren love visiting ' Nana's Hotel' and it really is, with an abundance of additional extras. They think of every little detail to make residents and relatives feel wanted and special. Thank you all so much, we can truly relax when we aren't with Mum

Our Dad Barrie was as in Dukes care home for just over 2 years. What a wonderful and happy place.
We live up in Glasgow so was such a peace of mind knowing he was well looked after, by you all and he had the rest of family near by too.
We came to visit at least 4 times a year and each time after
the 7 to 8 hour drive we were always welcomed with a cup of coffee and a home made yummy cake. (The chocolate cup cake being our favourite)
The staff are amazing and the entertainment interactive and fun.
Thanks all for all your support whilst Dad was with you and the support afterwards too.

When mum came for respite in January, things were sorted very quickly and efficiently, as soon as we (me and her sister) arrived with our mum.
Mum hasn't got into the routine of stockings on shower, etc., in the morning. Mum has now returned after a fall, so hopefully this will become more routine.
Appreciate mornings are extremely busy.
