Esher Manor Care Home - Avery Collection

from Evadne A (Sister of Resident) published on 28 November 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My sister went into Esher Manor for one week's respite. It had been particularly difficult to persuade her to take this much-needed break from caring for her 104-year-old mother and the manager was endlessly patient while we made this difficult decision. Once there, I believe that my sister adapted
quite quickly with the attention of the extremely gentle and caring nursing staff. She enjoyed the welcoming and peaceful atmosphere and spoke highly of the food. She enjoyed walking around the lovely garden. She didn't take part in the activities, being a rather solitary person. When she came home she seemed much rested and looked much better, just a pity that she wouldn't stay a bit longer. From an outsider's perspective, this is the nicest care home that I have viewed or visited.

I couldn't be more pleased, everyone and everything is better than I could have hoped for. My wife has altziemers and the staff have excelled in caring for her. My biggest worry ,always that she would be content and happy , the staff have gone out there way to make sure that all is well, they have
got Sue involved in activities that I could not do in the last 3 years
A big thank you my me and my family

Well designed & modern with many small areas for residents & visitors to sit and read/talk/socialise as you would at home. Good sized rooms, all ensuite and carpeted. All staff very polite & dedicated to helping residents.
Particularly good management with managers available for discussions & ensure
have contact with residents & staff - helping in kitchen and always, ready to chat to a resident in the corridor, despite no doubt being immersed in admin duties. Responsive to residents' family concerns/suggestions at family meetings. Housekeeping ensures rooms & communal areas smell fresh and are clean & tidy.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
We were understandably extremely worried about how our 95 year old mother with dementia would settle into residential care. We were very pleasantly surprised however at how well she settled in at Winchester Heights. We were able to furnish her room with her own personal possessions to make her feel
more at home and visit as often as we liked. Everything seems to be managed as well as possible - everything including mum, is kept very clean and there seem to be enough staff to provide a good level of monitoring and care. As mum had been largely confined to one room at home, with very limited social contact, it has been amazing to see her mixing and socialising with people of her own age not to mention going out on trips to the cinema and Winchester Cathedral - being at Winchester Heights has certainly improved her quality of life. The great stress and weight of responsibility of caring for someone at home has been greatly lifted which has been a huge relief.

I am really grateful to the staff of Acacia Mews Care Home for the way they have looked after my mother during her first experience of respite care. They have been extremely caring to ensure she settled well and felt comfortable in her brand new environment. The staff have been supportive to me by listening
to any concerns I had as a caring daughter, by quickly responding with appropriate action and reassurance. I am very happy that my mother has been able to socialise and enjoy activities with the residents and staff.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My dad has been a resident at Aire view for around 7 months, we did have some initial worries but I am now very happy with the care provided to my dad, the activities in the home are great and I enjoy seeing all the photos on social media. There have been a lot of changes over the past few months but
these have only improved the experience at Aire view. The staff seem a lot more settled and happy. The newly appointed manager is friendly and helpful, he always has a smile and listens to our concerns and keeps us as a family updated. It is very evident that changes are going in the right direction.
The only criticism I would make would be the consistency in my dad's room being tidy, some days his wardrobes are untidy and I have to put his clothes back neatly. The home would benefit from some more modern furniture as some table and chairs are a bit worn.
Thank you for looking after my dad.

I am very pleased with the care my sister has received. Her room is always kept clean and tidy, and the carers look after her in a kind and caring way. The activities etc, provided by the home are something for the residents to all enjoy. The dining room and food are more like a 5-star hotel, which
she enjoys, plus, if they cannot manage to cut their food, there is always help at hand.

Fourteen years ago my brother came to live here, the "Sunrise" Two years ago I joined him, choosing an excellent apartment overlooking a delightful garden. Services had not regained pre Covid standards but were adequate. During my residency standards have further declined, poor dining room experiences,
activities of no appeal to me and too many minor inefficiencies for contented living. Management seem more concerned with appearances to visitors and inspection than customer satisfaction. Residents meetings do not serve the deaf and shy. No one from management or customer services talks regularly say six monthly to each resident, in the comfort of their own rooms, to gain impression of their living experiences and why if dissatisfied, they don't leave. My reason is my apartment, and the friendly staff, but the quality of service is most disappointing.

Our mother was a resident at Southampton Manor Care Home on reminiscence for 9 months until she sadly passed away peacefully in her sleep.
From our initial meeting/being shown around by the Client Liaison Manager and mum's assessment in hospital with the Dementia Care Manager prior to becoming a
resident - We as a family knew this home was the right choice for mum. The nurses and carers on reminiscence were professional, kind and compassionate. The continuity of staff and sense of community really stood out to us. Nothing was ever too much trouble and they supported us many times throughout our journey with mum.
We would highly recommend Southampton Manor Home to anyone looking to place a loved one into a setting that offers peace of mind, a sense of belonging and wonderful staff that are trained in dementia care.
