Mum had some respite here a few months ago and was impressed enough to move to the home permanently, she also said the food is fantastic. All the staff are very caring and supportive and helpful if you have any queries or concerns. They have a good range of activities, beautiful gardens and lovely
areas to sit and enjoy company or some peace and quiet on your own.

As a daughter of an elderly mother. I was faced with the decision of placing my mother whom could be difficult at times into a residential care home. It was one of the most challenging and difficult decisions of my life. I looked at a lot of care homes and began to think there was no home I could see
my mother living in. Then I found Knowle Gate. Right from the start it was amazing, and still is. The staff are really nice, friendly and caring.
At the beginning there were some teething problems but I found the staff approachable and professional.
I cannot recommend this home more highly. I thank them all the time and I'm grateful for the opportunity to leave this review enabling me to put my thoughts in writing. Thank you to all the staff and know all your efforts are acknowledged and appreciated.
Reply from Courtney Norton, Client Liaison Manager at Knowle Gate Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you so much for your lovely review and for trusting Knowle Gate with your mother's care. We understand how difficult this decision was for you, so it means a great deal to hear that you felt supported and reassured by our team from the beginning.
We truly appreciate your kind words about our staff and are delighted that your mother is happy with us. Your feedback and recommendation mean so much to the whole team - thank you again for your support and appreciation.

Overall we as a family are happy that our relative resides at Knowlegate. The most important thing is knowing that our relative is happy. However some staff need to be more interactive with all the residents and be more well versed in understanding the more challenging behaviour that dementia can present.
Reply from Courtney Norton, Client Liaison Manager at Knowle Gate Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for your review and for sharing your family's experience. We are delighted to hear that your relative is happy at Knowlegate, as their wellbeing and happiness are our highest priorities.
We also appreciate your constructive feedback regarding staff interaction and understanding of behaviours associated with dementia. We recognise how important meaningful engagement and specialist dementia care are for all residents, and your comments will help us continue to improve. We are committed to ongoing training and support for our team to ensure every resident receives compassionate, person-centred care.
Thank you again for your feedback and for placing your trust in us.

Overall, I am very pleased with my mum's care. The reception staff are excellent as are the activity ladies. I also find the senior carers provide detailed communication/discussion about mum's state of well-being as required. The other carers are generally friendly, smile and say hello as we arrive.
My comments on how their work could be improved include involving themselves more in residents day-to-day life beyond that of just their personal care. Sometimes we see a number of them sitting around or even sitting on the carers desk on mobile phones etc which doesn't give a good impression. This becomes more annoying when occasionally we find mum cold or thirsty and asking for a drink. Surely these are basic care needs that should be monitored throughout the day. She often looks disheveled with left over food etc down herself and/or spilled drink on her wheelchair. She deserves to be kept warm, clean and in a respectable state. Her room should also be kept locked as we've requested
Reply from Courtney Norton, Customer Service Manager at Knowle Gate Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are pleased to hear your positive comments about our reception team, activities staff, and senior carers, and we will ensure these are passed on.
We also appreciate your honest comments regarding the areas where we can improve. Your concerns regarding staff engagement, professionalism, and keeping doors locked have been taken seriously and will be addressed with the team.
Thank you again for your feedback, which helps us continue to improve the care and support we provide.

Always greeted with a warm welcome and a smile by the reception team which extends to all the team when we walk through the corridors
Lovely rooms that are maintained to a high standard
Catering is very good and is adapted for individuals dietary requirement. Coffee & cake always available in the
front reception lounge for residents and their visitors which is a lovely touch
Activities every day with something to suit everyone and always get the residents involved on speeding occasions The Easter celebrations were amazing
The care team are calm and relaxed and are clearly trained to deal with mums dementia and knows what support she needs
The care home is really community minded and makes sure they are supported and.kept up to date with what's going on in the community
After going through the transition of mum moving in November 2025 it was perhaps one of the best decisions I have made
Reply from Milly Bunning, Client Liaison Manager at Waterhouse Manor Care HomeThank you Ruth for a touching review of Waterhouse Manor. My wife became resident in October 2025 . She had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease nine years ago. It was uncertain time for both of us. But she was welcomed and has been very well looked after with thoughtfulness and kindness. She has settled very well and put on weight. Everone knows her name
and talks to her. She gets involved in activities that are going on, although in many cases it is watching and being in the company of others. I am grateful for the care and help that she receives from all the staff. It has been a great relief for me

Both myself and my sister are absolutely delighted with the care that our dad has received at Knowlegate. He has been resident since August 2025 and every single day he has received outstanding care and support from each and every member of staff. He settled very quickly, which at 94 isn't easy. He's
put on weight which is down to the delicious nutritional food that is prepared and served every day. The surroundings are always very clean, bright and welcoming. Entertainment is varied, with in house activities provided by the 'Pink ladies' or special guests who come and entertain.
My sister and I have been made to feel welcome and part of the 'team' who are looking after dad. Which is very important to us. Putting dad in a care home was an awful decision to make, but that said, we know that Knowlegate is absolutely the best place for dad. We can rest easy knowing he is safe, warm, and exceptionally well cared for. To all the team at Knowlegate. Thank you. You are all amazing.
Reply from Courtney Norton, Customer Service Manager at Knowle Gate Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you so much for your wonderful review and kind words. We are delighted to hear that your dad has settled so well with us and that both you and your sister feel reassured and welcomed as part of his care journey.
It means a great deal to know that our team, environment, activities, and home-cooked meals have made such a positive difference to your dad's wellbeing. We will be sure to share your lovely comments with all of the team, including our "Pink Ladies," who work so hard to create enjoyable experiences for our residents.

Following a spell in hospital at the end of January, Dad did not recover his strength. Sadly he passed away in mid-March. During the period of his decline I cannot thank the care home staff enough for their diligent and compassionate care of Dad.
When he moved to Lavender Lodge two years ago it was
following a spell in hospital that left him unable to care for himself. The loss of his independence was initially frustrating, but once settled in he realised he was very much in the right place. As a family we honestly believe we had two more years with Dad thanks to him being looked after so well.

I viewed many care homes before visiting Avonmere. Once I walked into Avonmere it had a complete different feel to it and almost like a hotel with the hot and cold drinks situated behind the reception desk. The rooms are all spotless and lots of rooms to sit including a bar and library all beautifully
decorated. The outside garden has lots of comfy seats and there is a large balcony upstairs again with seats and parasols.
All staff are amazing from Sam the manager who gets things done to the friendly receptionists, catering staff, Bee the entertainments manager, the nurses, catering staff and the seniors who take great care of mums medical needs
My mum is on the dementia floor and is really happy there as there's always a full day of activities plus trips out in their own bus. Bee and her team encourage residents to follow their hobbies eg golf, art, church, Pilates and lots of eve parties
My mum didn't want to go into a home but tells me she's happy and the staff are very kind
Reply from Samantha Baronian, Home Manager at Avonmere Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you so much for taking the time to write such a thoughtful and heartfelt review. Your kind words genuinely mean so much to all of us here at Avonmere.
It's wonderful to hear that you felt something special as soon as you walked through our doors. We work very hard to create a warm, welcoming environment that feels comfortable, homely, and uplifting for both residents and their families, so your comments are incredibly rewarding to read.
I'm especially pleased to hear how happy your mum has become with us. We understand how difficult the decision to move into a care home can be, and it means the world to know she now feels settled, supported, and cared for by our team.
Thank you also for recognising so many members of staff across the home. Bea and the activities team are so passionate about helping residents continue enjoying their hobbies, interests, and social lives, and the nursing and care teams work tirelessly every day to provide the very best care possible.

My mother is living her best senior life with the loving care here and I consider myself very, very fortunate to have Avonmere looking after her.
Every member of staff takes on their responsibilities with personal responsibility
and pride.
My mother moved into Avonmere 4 years ago and is enjoying a quality of life I never dreamt of for her and am so very grateful for.
Thank you Avonmere!
Reply from Samantha Baronian, Home Manager at Avonmere Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you so much for your lovely feedback and kind words about Avonmere and the team.
It means so much to hear that your mother is enjoying such a positive quality of life with us. We are all very fond of her, and she is such a valued part of the Avonmere family. Knowing that she feels happy, supported, and cared for is exactly what we strive for every day.
I especially loved having her in my art class - those moments are so special, and it is wonderful to see her enjoying the activities and engaging so well.
Thank you again for your continued trust and support. We feel very privileged to be part of your mother's journey, our resident Nurse, and to care for her at Avonmere

Nobody wants to think of putting a loved one into a care home ! But sometimes there is no option. A very dear friend of mine was sadly amittted to hospital in November 2025 . Over night he was discharged , I knew he was to frail to return home so I promised to find him a 5 star hotel to recover . That's
when after visiting other places I found Avonmere . Straight away I knew he would love it . Sam the manager pulled out all the stops to get him accesed in hospital the next day and move straight in . Initially it was only for respite. But he loved the care / fuss and attention so much he didn't want to leave. He's now been there 5 months and has come on so much . The staff are so kind, and attentive. We've had the odd problem but Sam is always there to listen and sort out immediately. They cater for everyone's needs even with activities. They've even taken my friend to watch he's beloved football team play . I've had dealings with our care homes in the past . This one is outstanding
Reply from Samantha Baronian, Home Manager at Avonmere Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you so much for your incredibly kind words. Reading your message truly means a lot to me and to the whole team here at Avonmere. We always aim to make Avonmere feel like a home rather than just a care setting, so hearing that he enjoys the care, attention, activities, and little bits of fuss means the world to us. The football trip was definitely a highlight for everyone involved!
Thank you as well for your trust, support, and understanding. It's lovely families and friends like you who make what we do so rewarding.
I will make sure your kind comments are shared with the whole team, as they work incredibly hard every single day and will be so proud to hear this feedback

My two weeks respite felt like staying in a high class hotel where everyone was very friendly and helpful. Practically everything was excellent but two things could be improved. 1. The activities staff were not always there on time or prepared. eg. when doing an activity in which they needed to record
the scores, they hadn't brought anything to record them on.
2. On a couple of occasions, care staff didn't look in after teatime until 2am.
I only give this feedback to provide opportunity for improvement on a service, which in all respects is excellent.
Reply from Sally Castro Gouveia, CLM at Camberley Heights Care Home - Avery CollectionDear Brian,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed your two-week respite and that, overall, you found the experience excellent. It's wonderful to know that you felt everyone was friendly and helpful.
We also appreciate your constructive comments regarding the activities staff and the timing of care staff visits after teatime. Your observations are very valuable, and we will review these areas carefully to ensure improvements are made so that future stays are seamless in every respect.
We are grateful for your thoughtful feedback and your kind acknowledgment of our team's efforts. It helps us maintain the high standards we aim for and continually improve the services we provide.
Thank you again for sharing your experience and we hope to welcome you back in the future for another enjoyable stay.
