The activities co-ordinator was very helpful! He lent my relative some tape to repair one of his photos - we appreciate his kindness and good humour!

All the family are very happy with the care that our mother receives at Sunrise of Elstree. It feels a safe and happy place for her to be living. The staff always are seen to be caring and helpful towards her. My mother has had some medical issues that have been dealt with in an appropriate and timely fashion and we have been kept up to date with what is happening. The staff always have time to talk to us and have taken any concerns we have seriously.

My wife has been in Sunrise Care Home for nearly two years and she is treated with dignity and respect. She has settled in well and all members of the staff are very friendly, kind and professional. The food and meals are excellent and very well varied and of the best quality. All parts of Sunrise are beautifully clean and cared for and are a pleasure to be visiting such a very wonderful home and area. Well done to all the staff.

My mother is a resident and staff are very good in caring for her. Premises are very nice and very clean. Food is okay but not great, on a positive, you can order fish every day which is very nice, staff serving food also very nice and always do their best. Rooms are nice, could do with slight updates with the price that is paid i.e. new floor in the bathroom but on the whole very happy with care home, probably hard to find a better place.

The carers and all staff but especially carers are most considerate, thoughtful and kind. Always provide excellent, cheerful, practical, constructive help and companionship. They also always inform me of any problems by phone with my resident.

My mother receives excellent care in a safe environment. She enjoys all the activities and entertainment. The staff are very caring and my mother is treated with dignity at all times.

The care staff are generally attentive and approachable. The care manager is excellent and professional. The facilities are good and they seem to offer lots of activities for the residents and the setting is lovely. The only criticisms I have are the quality of food and lack of communication to family and relatives.

Lovely facilities and wonderful care. Carers in reminiscence are extremely caring and helpful.
A little more attention to the laundry being returned to the correct resident is needed. Good activities regularly. Some updating to some of the rooms is also needed.

It takes too long for a carer to come when one is needed, poor management who don't listen, but make promises and do nothing, food is sometimes a bit predictable and unimaginative.

Overall, Sunrise of Elstree is excellent. Though my 'Good' ratings reflect the fact that it is extremely expensive and staff response times can be lengthy on occasion when busy or understaffed. This can be distressing for the resident and possible dangerous. Apart from this important factor, my relative is very happy here and her family are too.

Having trained as a Nurse in the early 80’s and working for the NHS for over 10 years, I took a career break and accepted a job as a Publican which was great fun! My new role took me on a completely different career path and I joined Sunrise as an Activities Assistant 5 years ago and have recently progressed to Activities Co-ordinator. I love my job, learning about our residents' interesting lives, the hobbies and interests they once had and want to revive. I enjoy the challenge of rekindling their memories to unlock golden moments in their past.

It means a lot to me that we can provide our residents with meaningful activities that bring enjoyment and stimulation whilst enabling them to continue to live with a purpose every day.
