My mother moved into this home six months ago and has settled in very well. The staff are very caring, and she is looked after well. She enjoys the varied activities on offer and has made friends - she sees Elstree as her home now, which shows that she is very comfortable in this beautiful environment. Overall, I am very happy that we chose this care home.

Staff provide a very personalised service, are never rushed and have really got to know my mother's needs and choices. The facilities are never anything but spotless, and it would hard to identify it as a residential care setting when you enter the building.

My parents have been in Elstree for about 4-months. Staff are lovely. It’s a little hard to review as due to Covid, it’s not ‘normal’ times, and I’m the only one allowed to see them due to various outbreaks in the home. Mum has a new lease of life mixing and participating in activities. Dad now has his music in his room and is even learning how to use a smartphone for the first time.
Costs are very high for a couple, and they are in the process of selling their house to pay for the care, this is the hardest thing.
Mealtimes are super early, and dinner at 5 pm is a new thing for my parents. 6 pm, although still early, would be more accommodating.

Overall, my parents are happy, and I know they are being well cared for.

My elderly father moved into Sunrise of Elstree for a respite care stay after a bad fall in which he fractured his right arm. He needed help with day to day tasks including bathing, dressing, eating, taking medication and so needed carers available to assist him 24/7. He chose Sunrise and initially booked in for a month-long stay, and has now arranged to extend that for a further month. The care and support he is receiving is exceptional. Nothing seems to be too much trouble and I am regularly updated if any issues arise. He enjoys having a comfortable suite with his own sitting room, phone and a lovely view. He is still mentally sharp and delighted that he has wifi access so that he can continue to use his iPad and computer to manage his affairs and stay in touch with his friends. He has also made new friends with the other residents and enjoys the entertainment and activities available. I am beginning to suspect that he may not want to move out when his respite stay ends

The staff are wonderful and very caring. The first couple of days, my wife was very confused, but the staff spent time encouraging her and made her feel very welcome.
On her birthday, they decorated the dining room downstairs and made us all very welcome.

Cannot praise all the staff highly enough.

Sunrise of Elstree appreciate moving into a care home can be an unsettling time. This is why we take the time to engage with family members and friends of the resident to make the process as smooth as possible, to get to know the resident on a personal level. We are pleased your wife has settled in well.

Sunrise of Elstree is an attractive place, but in the time my mother has known it - three months - there is no doubt that the standards have slipped. There seem to be fewer staff, the food is worse, and the response to complaints is sadly poor. I hope it gets better.

Caring, concerned and welcoming.
What a fantastic start to Mum’s time at Sunrise. An incredible team of staff, from top to everyone else.
Especially, at this time of pandemic and care homes have had such bad press, the amount of work by staff who really care is a real credit to the whole operation.

Families are supported so well and welcomed.

My mother has been at Sunrise of Elstree for nearly two and a half years and has been looked after really well by the excellent staff team there.
All members of staff have shown immense thoughtfulness and kindness to both my mum and me.

Staff keep in good touch with me and have been impressive in their care of the residents throughout the pandemic. The staff team have done a good job of keeping the activity programme going too, and my mother has really been pleased to participate.

Staff are very committed to providing a good and comprehensive service. It is clearly very difficult at the moment as older residents with dementia can't understand what is going on. And get depressed as they cannot meet with friends and relatives. The care home has worked hard at setting up safe places to talk to residents through glass protected areas. Telephone contact is readily available, though problematic for the resident.

As I haven't been able to visit in recent months, they have kept me informed about what's going on via email and respond quickly to queries.

Sunrise of Elstree is a beautiful and caring residential home set in delightful grounds with amazing views.
The staff are always diligent and caring towards my mother and know her well. She has built up a relationship with them as have we.

I would recommend Sunrise of Elstree and have done so, and throughout the pandemic, I have had regular contact via e-mail or phone as to my mother's wellbeing whilst Government guidelines have not permitted visits. I believe that my mum is in a safe environment and that the health and care of residents is paramount on their agenda.

My mother has been at Sunrise for six and a half years. Throughout that time, she has been treated with the utmost care and respect. My mother and I visited a few residential homes before we went to Sunrise in July 2017 - just walking in was different: apart from the sweeping staircase and sense of spaciousness, there is The Bistro: an area set up like a little cafe, with small tables around which the residents sit - as we do in normal life when we meet people. It makes such a difference and for me symbolises the care and understanding that informs the quality of service at Sunrise. The grounds are also lovely and thanks to the setting, the doors are not locked for assisted living residents - another big plus that I've not encountered elsewhere. Crucially, there are 3 or 4 daily activities - my dad is no longer a self-starter and these are vital for his well-being. During Covid lockdown, the staff have been truly great in helping us maintain contact with Dad. In fact, the only problem is that I would like my parents to move near to me, but finding somewhere to match Sunrise is proving a challenge.

This home is superb. The facility is beautiful, like an old fashioned hotel in atmosphere. The gardens and view across London are magnificent. The facilities are comfortable, the place was due for major renovation but that has been postponed continuously. It is spotlessly clean and paintwork etc always looks fresh. The furnishings are clean and comfortable. Most importantly the caring is sensitive, resident tailored, and proactive. Activities are varied but of course, limited due to Covid. The food is presented well, served as if in a good restaurant and tailored to the needs of the individual resident. All the residents' personal care is superlative, all look well dressed and clean and tidy.

I started working in the elderly care sector in 2010 and have been at Elstree View since 2019.

I was promoted from Dementia Care Manager to Deputy Manager in 2022 and to General Manager in 2023.

My background is predominantly in dementia care, and I was extremely proud to complete my postgraduate Master’s in Dementia Studies in 2019.

I am passionate about providing person-centred care for our residents as well as supporting family and friends to be involved in the care of their loved ones.

I find my job hugely rewarding, and it is great to work with such a long-serving, committed and caring team here at Elstree View Care Home.

My name is Simona Ciuperca, and I am the Deputy Manager at Elstree View.

I started with the company in January 2021 as a Residential Care Manager, and I am very happy to call Elstree View home.

I first started working in the care industry in 2010, initially as a Registered General Nurse. Since then, I have grown and developed in the management area, completing my QCF Level 5 in Health and Social Care and Leadership.

I feel very passionate about residents’ care and ensuring that high standards are reached and maintained.

Every resident living in our community has a voice, and we are here to support their choices while respecting their dignity and providing them with the support they need to start a new life at Elstree View.

As someone who likes to be challenged and has a proven aptitude for providing a high level of professional care with a truly resident-focused approach, I am excited to utilise my management expertise and significant nursing skills to ensure our residents enjoy the best possible lifestyle.

I will always welcome and encourage involvement in our home from the friends and relatives of our residents, so please contact me at any time to discuss any suggestions you may have.

I started working in the care sector in 2014 as a care assistant and have worked in various roles within social care, developing my skills and knowledge along the way. I completed my Level 5 diploma in leadership and management in health and social care in 2019. I have been working at Elstree View since July 2022 as the dementia care manager on The Orchids and can honestly say I have enjoyed every minute.

The reason I am so drawn to working in care is knowing that each day I can make a difference in someone’s day, no matter how big or small that difference is. Working as a dementia care manager can be challenging at times, but I find it truly rewarding.

Everyone deserves to receive the highest standard of care possible, so taking a person-centred approach is a key part of my work ethic. I am very passionate about working with those who are living with dementia and supporting their families. I will also do everything I can to support my residents and their families.

It is great meeting potential new residents and giving them a tour of our home, as well as hearing their stories on how they have come to stay at Elstree, some being sad as well as happy. As a Well-being and Activities Coordinator, I love creating meaningful experiences that bring happiness, purpose, and connection to residents each day. I have been working in a care setting for 20 years, and it's been the best choice I made. I had the privilege to grow up with my grandparents around me and care for my mother; therefore, to me, the elderly will always be my family, and as such, it felt special walking into this home eighteen months ago. My role as BOC is central to all other departments, ensuring the administration function continues to flow smoothly. I am committed to helping the dedicated team, residents and families, giving my best at all times. It is always a pleasure when a resident knocks on my door with a query or stops for a chat in the corridor. I enjoy listening to them, I respect them and am always happy to help and bring a smile.
