I do not usually write reviews but feel compelled to share the positive experience we have had since Mum moved into Birchmere Mews.
A difficult decision, and sometimes challenging transition, was made so much easier by the staff who have been incredibly helpful, warm, friendly and supportive.
The
sensitivity of the staff towards Mum and the family has been touching and deeply appreciated.
Management staff at Birchmere have often provided a listening ear, are quick to respond to any questions or concerns, and they have personally gone the extra mile for Mum.
Now, two months after Mum's move, she has settled nicely. We all have. The manager and her wider staff are to be commended for this. We are all in a happier place because of them.
Reply from Michelle Larder, Home Manager at Birchmere Mews Care Home - Avery Healthcare

Since moving into Avery three more months ago it has been a joy to see the positive impact that it has had on my father in law. We haven't seen him as happy as this for a long time. He has made great friends with both the staff and the residents. The food and social activities are both exceptional.
Every
time we come to make a visit we are warmly welcomed and made to feel like part of the Avery family.
The staff could not have been more helpful helping us during the process of moving our father-in-law into his new accommodation and helping him to feel at home.
We are so thankful for the Hawthorns and their dedication to excellence.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother resides at Avalon Court and I have been so incredibly impressed by the level of care and support she receives. Rather than do the easiest thing, Avalon works hard to do what is in the best interests of residents. This is evident in their incredible program of activities that include unusual
and stimulating activities like drama productions and zoo animal encounters, and the way that the staff continue to encourage and support (those residents that can) to walk and engage in feedback meetings.
I have visited a number of homes and Avalon Court is by far the best one I have come across. I very much appreciate all the hard work that Avalon Court puts into ensuring that my mum is well looked after. I would not hesitate to recommend this home to anyone who is looking for a caring, supportive environment for their loved ones.

Overall very pleased with home. Staff are lovely and considerate. Food is very good. Rooms very nice. Only issue is carers don't interact overly with residents. Activities staff work really hard, I'm sure when activities are not happening carers could do more with residents instead of just having the
TV blaring away. I think there could be a few more carers, especially on floor 2 which is always understaffed.

The Hawthorns Aldridge offers a lovely warm welcoming atmosphere from the moment you enter the reception area. My friend's rooms is beautifully decorated and well maintained. There is a lovely private dining room which I can highly recommend having recently eaten there ... the 3 course meal was amazing
... a big thank you to the Chef. There are so many members of staff that I could mention who go above and beyond in making sure an excellent level of care is provided to the residents. Entertainment and social events are held throughout the year and the recently held Saturday night Pub Quiz was a great success, I'm now looking forward to the Summer Fair.

Where to begin a thousand words is hardly enough for this fantastic residence. Everyone of the Staff were amazing caring and even loving, they went as far knowing all the names of each resident. We as a family were blown away by the everything that was done each room is cleaned (on Daily Basis) and
tidy, including a laundry service, meeting all the residents requirements. There always something planned to entertain the residents from Singalongs to Choirs and exercises classes to name but a few. the food was always top notch and plenty of choice to accommodate the needs of each person. There was never any pressure to join in (Entertainment) but checks were always made to ensure the wellbeing was a number one priority of all residents.

So a MASSIVE thank you to Manger, Dept Manager, Finance, FD in fact all the staff, as everyone one of them were fantastic, it really felt that they were looking after "Family" which gave our us peace of mind.

Aran Court is a very welcoming home. The Management team have an open door policy and are happy to engage with the residents and their families. The nurses and carers deliver excellent care and will always explain anything about your care that you wish to discuss
The home is decorated to a high standard
with several areas allocated to the residents and their families to use. There are always activities taking place and weekly excursions to local areas. There is a lovely garden with a garden room and a pagoda to enjoy
There is always something delicious on the menu but if you do fancy something different the chef is happy to accommodate
There is a professional laundry service on site with a great team taking care of everyone's washing.
The home is kept spotlessly clean and maintained by a wonderful team of housekeepers and maintenance team.
Aran Court offers excellent care and support for all of the residents.

Thank you for such a lovely, positive review. Deb has been a resident at Aran Court for over 12 years and takes her job as patient ambassador very seriously. She helps new admissions settle in, she signposts the families and hold's resident meetings quarterly and ensures all our residents have their voices heard. She is a great advocate for all. She has also recently overseen a community project which enabled us to have our garden pod area extended so more assessable for wheelchair users. Thank you Deb for all you do.

Mom had dementia and sadly has now passed away. There was very little in the way of stimulation; admittedly towards the end of her life she was in bed and did not respond but when she was able to go into the residential lounge there was limited stimulation. On many occasions we had to alert the manager
that no staff were present in the lounge ( a requirement given that all of the residents had dementia) - when staff were present they did not , seemingly, interact with the residents, they were focussed on their phones.

Mom had a MRI Scan and we constantly enquired whether the results had been received; always the answer was no. I have since found out that the results were sent to another location on the 17th April. Aran Court worked with them so I fail to understand why these results were not known by Aran Court. I am chasing this up through the head office.

I would question the staff to resident ratio on the dementia unit.

Professional staff and management are very supportive. Visited other care homes and Albion Court is exceptional. It is a cheerful, welcoming environment, clean with great security measures. Residents appear very relaxed and clean in appearance. Carers are really dedicated, and the nursing team have
time for updates on loved ones. I currently have my mother as a resident, and I have seriously thought about my own life/wellbeing and hope to become a resident in the future.
