Hawthorns Aldridge - Avery Healthcare

Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Where to begin a thousand words is hardly enough for this fantastic residence. Everyone of the Staff were amazing caring and even loving, they went as far knowing all the names of each resident. We as a family were blown away by the everything that was done each room is cleaned (on Daily Basis) and
tidy, including a laundry service, meeting all the residents requirements. There always something planned to entertain the residents from Singalongs to Choirs and exercises classes to name but a few. the food was always top notch and plenty of choice to accommodate the needs of each person. There was never any pressure to join in (Entertainment) but checks were always made to ensure the wellbeing was a number one priority of all residents.

So a MASSIVE thank you to Manger, Dept Manager, Finance, FD in fact all the staff, as everyone one of them were fantastic, it really felt that they were looking after "Family" which gave our us peace of mind.

Reply from Amanda Haynes, Home Manager at Hawthorns Aldridge - Avery Healthcare

Aran Court is a very welcoming home. The Management team have an open door policy and are happy to engage with the residents and their families. The nurses and carers deliver excellent care and will always explain anything about your care that you wish to discuss
The home is decorated to a high standard
with several areas allocated to the residents and their families to use. There are always activities taking place and weekly excursions to local areas. There is a lovely garden with a garden room and a pagoda to enjoy
There is always something delicious on the menu but if you do fancy something different the chef is happy to accommodate
There is a professional laundry service on site with a great team taking care of everyone's washing.
The home is kept spotlessly clean and maintained by a wonderful team of housekeepers and maintenance team.
Aran Court offers excellent care and support for all of the residents.

Reply from Debbie Scott, manager at Aran Court Care Home - Avery Healthcare

Thank you for such a lovely, positive review. Deb has been a resident at Aran Court for over 12 years and takes her job as patient ambassador very seriously. She helps new admissions settle in, she signposts the families and hold's resident meetings quarterly and ensures all our residents have their voices heard. She is a great advocate for all. She has also recently overseen a community project which enabled us to have our garden pod area extended so more assessable for wheelchair users. Thank you Deb for all you do.

Review of

Aran Court Care Home - Avery Healthcare

from Jayne P (Daughter of Resident) published on 6 August 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5

Mom had dementia and sadly has now passed away. There was very little in the way of stimulation; admittedly towards the end of her life she was in bed and did not respond but when she was able to go into the residential lounge there was limited stimulation. On many occasions we had to alert the manager
that no staff were present in the lounge ( a requirement given that all of the residents had dementia) - when staff were present they did not , seemingly, interact with the residents, they were focussed on their phones.

Mom had a MRI Scan and we constantly enquired whether the results had been received; always the answer was no. I have since found out that the results were sent to another location on the 17th April. Aran Court worked with them so I fail to understand why these results were not known by Aran Court. I am chasing this up through the head office.

I would question the staff to resident ratio on the dementia unit.

Professional staff and management are very supportive. Visited other care homes and Albion Court is exceptional. It is a cheerful, welcoming environment, clean with great security measures. Residents appear very relaxed and clean in appearance. Carers are really dedicated, and the nursing team have
time for updates on loved ones. I currently have my mother as a resident, and I have seriously thought about my own life/wellbeing and hope to become a resident in the future.

Hawthorns Aldridge - Avery Healthcare

from Anthony R (Resident) published on 8 July 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

I moved to Hawthorns from another Avery care home, as in typical Avery style they believed it was a closer fit to what suited my needs- as always the first rule of care is does it fit the requirement of the online portal, as developed with Staffs mental health and Avery (by me) - in this case YES .
my experience albeit short is that the manager and her excellent team more than excel in the pursuit of individual tailoring and fulfilment while ensuring that requirements are matched and maintained. Hawthorn has a more difficult brief than many care homes as it seeks to match many different facets of care and care progression . all done with an open, friendly and fully inclusive manner - would i recommend - yes if the match of requirement works Absolutely thanks to all.

Avalon Court Care Home - Avery Healthcare

from P L (Power of Attorney of Resident) published on 30 June 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

I hold power of Attorney for two of the residents at Avalon Court in Coventry.
Whilst they are happy with their care, they are most unhappy with the food they are served daily. Let me give you an example, yesterday they were offered a scone for their tea, but it arrived with not butter or jam, when
they asked for both a small pot of jam it arrived 25 mins later, but they never did receive any butter.
This may seem trivial but similar instances happen regularly. I find it incomprehensible that a care home with such a good reputation is let down by such inadequate catering service.
I am happy to discuss these issues with you if you care to contact me.

Reply from Elaine Edwards, Customer Service Manager at Avalon Court Care Home - Avery Healthcare

I am so sorry to hear this. I will contact you and we can arrange a time best to suit you so that we can discuss this further. Kind regards, Elaine

My mum is in respite care due to ill health and me struggling to cope with her in her own home. From our first visit to look round & every step of the way in her first 3 weeks I have felt mum is safe & receiving excellent care & support. She struggled to settle initially but the kind & caring staff
& activities have helped her adjust. We have done choir practice, juice tasting & garden club together, she has taken up art again & her first trip out to a local park for a picnic was a big success. I feel so much more relaxed knowing she is in safe hands. I can now spend quality time with mum rather than responding to crisis after crisis ( I feel Newcross Care Home is caring for me too) This was demonstrated by a recent call from mum when she thought she had taken a turn for the worse. The carer I spoke to was kind, caring & reassuring & I recognised her voice on the phone & trusted her judgement implicitly. All was fine. Thank you to the manager & her team.

My mother has been at Avalon Court for the past two years. In that time she has enjoyed every aspect of Avalon life - the staff have made her and myself feel very included and welcome. In the past few months my mother's needs have changed as she progresses into her 'end of life' stage, but as he needs
increase the staff and medical team have been wonderful. I'm in the home visiting my mother daily now and feel very much at home! The staff be it reception, care, domestic or kitchen approach their jobs with dedication and care as one big happy family.

Avalon is always very welcoming, the staff greet you with a smile and take the time to have a conversation either about you or your loved one. The entrance is clean, tidy with fresh flowers or displays of the residents art work etc. This month has had a variety of activities for all the residents to
take part in if they so wish. Tea, coffee and delicious home made cakes are always available for you, to enjoy whilst having a chat with the resident either in the lounge or in the suite, where staff are always approachable to discuss any problems, either medical issues or food which they had that day.

We really do appreciate your feedback. Our aim at Avalon is to make everyone feel welcome from the minute they walk through the door.
