Dad has been at Bourn V 7 months now and it is a huge relief to see him content, settled and so well cared for. There are several factors that make this home so special. It's a modern, beautifully decorated building with gardens and balconies.Public areas and residents rooms are always clean and fresh.
The bistro is particularly pleasant to have a coffee and catch up.
But most importantly it's the staff that make this home unique. Every member of staff have made the effort to get to know dad and talk to him regularly which has meant so much.
When you visit you are greeted by welcoming, helpful receptionists.Carers are competent, respectful, and always keep relatives updated. Meals are delicious and healthy (the homemade soups are the best !). Residents clothes are laundered with care. The Wellness staff are both empathetic and enthusiastic organising a full timetable of varied activities encouraging residents from all units to take part. BV thank you please keep up this high standard

My Father-in-Law originally did respite at Bourn View in June 2025, but it became abundently clear that he wanted to move in as a permanent resident. He spent 41/2 extrememly happy Months before he unfortunately passed away in December 2025.
From the moment we met Grace to arrange respite, until the
very end of his life the staff could have not been more respectful, caring and kind. It is like being in a 4 star hotel (I would say 5 star but it hasn't got a swimming pool!!).
We never once found any disrepect or attude to any of the residants, and staff were always at hand.
I return Bourn View on a regular basis, to meet friends my Father-in-Law made, as well as the office staff and carers.
My father-in-Law couldn't have had a better way to spend his final 41/2 Months than being in Bourn View.
A a massive thank you to the entire team at Bourn View.

My nan came into this home 3 1/2 years ago, it was the best choice we ever made. It was upsetting for us all as she always lived in her own home, but the staff at Avalon Court was so helpful and caring.
The staff care as much as they can for my nan like family. Rachael especially is so supportive,
myself and my dad feel we have a second family. I would highly recommend this home to anyone! A massive thank you!
Reply from Elaine Edwards, Customer Service Manager at Avalon Court Care Home - Avery HealthcareYour review is so nice and thank you for that. I'm so glad your nan and yourselves are feeling happy with Avalon Court and that you all feel supported. We are very luck to have a very supportive management team and wonderful staff.

I am always amazed by how personalised the care is at Avalon Court. Every staff member seems to know every resident individually, and they are so friendly!
The food is amazing, rooms are beautifully decorated and maintained, the same of social areas. The range of activities to stimulate and support
residents is better than I have seen anywhere else, and residents families and friends are warmly welcomed too. It's a fantastic place.

Mum has lived at Avalon for almost 4 1/2 years. Mum and I both value highly everything provided at the home, everything they do is central to mum's care. All members of staff are like family to residents and visitors, right from cleaning team though to the manager, have always got time for the residents
and go out of their way to go the extra mile. We know that mum is in the best care home in Coventry, thank you for all for all you do. Special thanks go to Rachel, Natasha, Ed, Lyndsay and Shearer

As a daughter of an elderly mother. I was faced with the decision of placing my mother whom could be difficult at times into a residential care home. It was one of the most challenging and difficult decisions of my life. I looked at a lot of care homes and began to think there was no home I could see
my mother living in. Then I found Knowle Gate. Right from the start it was amazing, and still is. The staff are really nice, friendly and caring.

At the beginning there were some teething problems but I found the staff approachable and professional.

I cannot recommend this home more highly. I thank them all the time and I'm grateful for the opportunity to leave this review enabling me to put my thoughts in writing. Thank you to all the staff and know all your efforts are acknowledged and appreciated.

Reply from Courtney Norton, Client Liaison Manager at Knowle Gate Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you so much for your lovely review and for trusting Knowle Gate with your mother's care. We understand how difficult this decision was for you, so it means a great deal to hear that you felt supported and reassured by our team from the beginning.

We truly appreciate your kind words about our staff and are delighted that your mother is happy with us. Your feedback and recommendation mean so much to the whole team - thank you again for your support and appreciation.

Overall we as a family are happy that our relative resides at Knowlegate. The most important thing is knowing that our relative is happy. However some staff need to be more interactive with all the residents and be more well versed in understanding the more challenging behaviour that dementia can present.
Reply from Courtney Norton, Client Liaison Manager at Knowle Gate Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for your review and for sharing your family's experience. We are delighted to hear that your relative is happy at Knowlegate, as their wellbeing and happiness are our highest priorities.

We also appreciate your constructive feedback regarding staff interaction and understanding of behaviours associated with dementia. We recognise how important meaningful engagement and specialist dementia care are for all residents, and your comments will help us continue to improve. We are committed to ongoing training and support for our team to ensure every resident receives compassionate, person-centred care.

Thank you again for your feedback and for placing your trust in us.

Overall, I am very pleased with my mum's care. The reception staff are excellent as are the activity ladies. I also find the senior carers provide detailed communication/discussion about mum's state of well-being as required. The other carers are generally friendly, smile and say hello as we arrive.
My comments on how their work could be improved include involving themselves more in residents day-to-day life beyond that of just their personal care. Sometimes we see a number of them sitting around or even sitting on the carers desk on mobile phones etc which doesn't give a good impression. This becomes more annoying when occasionally we find mum cold or thirsty and asking for a drink. Surely these are basic care needs that should be monitored throughout the day. She often looks disheveled with left over food etc down herself and/or spilled drink on her wheelchair. She deserves to be kept warm, clean and in a respectable state. Her room should also be kept locked as we've requested
Reply from Courtney Norton, Customer Service Manager at Knowle Gate Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are pleased to hear your positive comments about our reception team, activities staff, and senior carers, and we will ensure these are passed on.

We also appreciate your honest comments regarding the areas where we can improve. Your concerns regarding staff engagement, professionalism, and keeping doors locked have been taken seriously and will be addressed with the team.

Thank you again for your feedback, which helps us continue to improve the care and support we provide.

Both myself and my sister are absolutely delighted with the care that our dad has received at Knowlegate. He has been resident since August 2025 and every single day he has received outstanding care and support from each and every member of staff. He settled very quickly, which at 94 isn't easy. He's
put on weight which is down to the delicious nutritional food that is prepared and served every day. The surroundings are always very clean, bright and welcoming. Entertainment is varied, with in house activities provided by the 'Pink ladies' or special guests who come and entertain.
My sister and I have been made to feel welcome and part of the 'team' who are looking after dad. Which is very important to us. Putting dad in a care home was an awful decision to make, but that said, we know that Knowlegate is absolutely the best place for dad. We can rest easy knowing he is safe, warm, and exceptionally well cared for. To all the team at Knowlegate. Thank you. You are all amazing.
Reply from Courtney Norton, Customer Service Manager at Knowle Gate Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you so much for your wonderful review and kind words. We are delighted to hear that your dad has settled so well with us and that both you and your sister feel reassured and welcomed as part of his care journey.

It means a great deal to know that our team, environment, activities, and home-cooked meals have made such a positive difference to your dad's wellbeing. We will be sure to share your lovely comments with all of the team, including our "Pink Ladies," who work so hard to create enjoyable experiences for our residents.

Thank you again for placing your trust in us to care for your dad. Your feedback truly means the world to us.

Moving a loved one into the care setting is the most difficult decision. The staff at Bourn View have made the transition easier for our family. From the reception and office staff to the care staff, activities team, laundry ladies, kitchen staff and housekeepers, they are all so friendly and welcoming.
Always willing to help with any questions. They all know mum's name and always acknowledge her and have time to chat. They have taken time to get to know her personally in order to meet her individual needs. The unit where mum resides is very well run by a senior carer. She always makes time to listen to concerns and actions suggestions in a timely manner. Her communication is excellent. The care staff we have met are always very well presented and are very professional. Bourn View offers a lovely family friendly environment where families and friends can join activities or find a nice quiet sunny spot in the extensive garden for a chat. The activities on offer are varied and fun.

The staff are always very friendly and take time to listen. It is a really pleasant environment with staff working well together. The staff work very hard but find
time to chat to me.
I am confined to bed but am helped to change position every two hours. My door is always open and I like to hear the sounds from other rooms, and staff passing by giving me a friendly greeting. I am happy here, more than happy.

Mum seems to have settled in very well. She's very happy to have no responsibilities for looking after her home. She's walking better and seem happier in herself. Her only 'complaint' is having tea at 4:30!! Too soon after lunch.
Reply from Elaine Edwards, Customer Service Manager at Avalon Court Care Home - Avery HealthcareI'm so happy to hear that your mum has settled in well. Kind regards
Elaine

My mother has been a resident at Avalon Court (dementia floor) for 3 1/2 years now and throughout this period the care and support has generally been very good on her floor. The time management and desk staff are totally professional and a credit to Avalon as are the entertainment team and the hairdressing.
I would highly recommend this care home to anyone.

Most things were excellent, but food was disappointing. Not enough vegetables and some days, portions very small. One small floret of broccoli, I do not consider to be a portion.
Drinks were fine.
Reply from Elaine Edwards, Customer Service Manager at Avalon Court Care Home - Avery HealthcareI'm so sorry to read this. I'm sure if staff had realized this they would have done something about it. There is always plenty of food so i do apologise. We will talk with our staff and try and ensure this doesn't happen again. We have a lovely dedicated team here at Avalon and i know they will all take this on board.
Kind regards
