I cannot praise West Wood highly enough. Everyone was friendly, kind, caring, instinctively creating a warm family atmosphere. Reception/Office staff were always welcoming, thoughtful & available. Food, cleanliness and maintenance were provided to an exceptionally high standard by cheerful yet sympathetic
people. The Care & Activities staff were faultless, always gentle, willing, helpful & compassionate, treating my Aunt as an individual, learning her personality & interests. Every personal & medical need was met with humanity yet professionally. Their quiet care was outstanding & particularly poignant as she declined. Knowing she was in safe hands was such a relief. I also felt deeply supported & cared for especially in her final days when the compassion & understanding were overwhelming. I will never forget the dignity & respect shown to Aunty at the end and on leaving West Wood. Thank you isn't enough.

I cannot praise this home highly enough. It really is home. Immaculately clean and airy. The meals and meal choices are excellent. The care and communication is very good with balance between efficiency and being friendly and supportive. Sadly it was end of life care for my Aunty and the support and
sensitivity was moving. Quietly efficient and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so much everyone. I really am struggling to put my appreciation into words. My darling Aunt was cared for by angels. I feel you are now friends.
Reply from Dawn Bunter, Home Manager at West Wood Care Home - Avery CollectionThank you so much for sharing such a heartfelt review. It means a great deal to all of us that your Aunty's final days felt peaceful, dignified, and truly like home. We know how difficult this time has been for you, and we are deeply touched by your kind words about our team and the care they provided.
Supporting families through end-of-life moments is a privilege we never take lightly. Your Aunty was a remarkable person, and it was an honour to be part of her journey and to care for her with the gentleness and respect she deserved. Thank you for trusting us at such an important time, please know you will always be a part of our extended family here.

Very friendly, helpful and look after my Great Aunt really well. Also make me feel welcome when I visit, they encourage her to get involved which hates and she has now decided she would like to stay, highly recommend this care home.

Although Auntie was a resident at West Wood for only a short period of time, the staff were exceptional and stood head and shoulders above all other care homes. Their care and empathetic manner was outstanding. We are so grateful. The home itself is bright, cheery and very clean and well maintained.
The respect shown from the staff when the funeral cortege left the home was very moving, the hospitality at the wake was amazing. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Sue x

First the staff are compassionate, professional and totally dedicated to the happiness and well being of the residents. The home is a five star hotel with care. We never thought that mum could afford to live in such luxury. We cannot find a single fault. We are overwhelmed by Mum's new home.

I feel so welcome to visit at anytime. The home is always clean and so well equiped. I have enjoyed going to the lounge with my friend for activities which are so professional. The staff are so kind and open and dedicated to making sure it is a home from home. Sometimes it is difficult to remember that
it is not a hotel as everything is done in a respectful and subtle way.

After my grandads recent illness and respite stay at Mousehold View was clearly well needed. Tony is in great spirits and made new friends. Its good to see my grandad back to himself and socialising. All the staff have been lovely, nothing is ever a problem. Management are lovely kind and caring.

I am very pleased with the care my sister has received. Her room is always kept clean and tidy, and the carers look after her in a kind and caring way. The activities etc, provided by the home are something for the residents to all enjoy. The dining room and food are more like a 5-star hotel, which
she enjoys, plus, if they cannot manage to cut their food, there is always help at hand.

We visited a neighbour in for a 2-week stay after surgery. The tick boxes represent what we saw and heard, and our neighbour's comments (she was so pleased that she booked another week's stay - testimony of her experience of care, respect and superb care). The staff and managers were kind, friendly
and responsive to the smallest needs. The buildings, private rooms and public places were warm, immaculate and spacious - essential for safety. The atmosphere was calm, quiet and relaxing.
Reply from Dawn Bunter, Home Manager at West Wood Care Home - Avery CollectionThank you so much for taking the time to share this wonderful review. We are delighted to hear that your neighbour's stay with us was such a positive experience, especially during an important period of recovery.
It's truly heart-warming to know that our team's kindness, attentiveness and responsiveness made a meaningful difference, and that the environment felt safe, calm and welcoming. We take great pride in maintaining a warm and immaculate setting. Hearing that your neighbour felt so well cared for that she chose to extend her stay is the greatest compliment we could receive.

Mum & Dad stayed for a weeks respite. The staff were amazing, very welcoming, friendly and attentive. The rooms are beautifully presented & comfortable. Mum really enjoyed joining in with some of the activities & it gave her the rest and respite from constantly caring for my dad who has Alzheimer's.
Dad enjoyed a morning in the cinema room watching one of his favourite old movie musicals & they both enjoyed sitting outside in the gardens.
During their stay it happened to be their 60th wedding anniversary & all the staff went above & beyond to make their day special. As a family we enjoyed lunch together in the private dining room which had been thoughtfully decorated with Diamond Anniversary balloons & banners. The staff had all signed a card & at tea time they were given a special anniversary cake.
The only small downside was that they missed having fresh fruit in their diet. Perhaps it could be offered at breakfast or made available in the lounges alongside the crisps & biscuits.

My family member has been at Westwood for a while now, and I honestly can't thank the team enough for everything they do. From day one, the staff have been so kind, patient and caring - nothing is ever too much trouble for them. You can tell how much pride they take in their work and how much they genuinely
care about the residents. The manager and the whole team go above and beyond every single day, and it really shows in the atmosphere of the home - it's warm, welcoming and full of love.
It's never an easy decision moving a loved one into care, but knowing they're in such safe and caring hands has been a huge comfort to our family. I honestly couldn't recommend Westwood more highly - they're a credit to what proper care should be.

Mum moved in in early September and transformation has been incredible. She looks so much better with greater attention to her hygiene, care clothes and making sure she looks presentable. Her clothes are being cared for just like at home. She is laughing and engaging again as a result of the great carers
who engage well and understand how to communicate with her and take the time to do so. The activity programme has also reignited her interest and happiness. Couldn't have wished for a better outcome changing care homes. Feel like we have Mum back again!!!

As a friend of a former resident, I am extremely disappointed with the service provided. My friend has dementia and is physically disabled following a stroke so is entirely dependent on carers to get her up and allow her access to the facilities. On visits, I noted the amount of time she was spending
in her room, missing out on group activities and time in the garden. When this matter was raised by her Power of Attorney, management staff made no attempt to take responsibility or address the issues raised. The tone of email correspondence from the home manager was hostile and they repeatedly refused requests to meet face to face to discuss how to move forward. As the situation escalated, a complaint was made to the CQC. Soon after, my friend was informed that she was to be evicted from the home giving her 28 days to vacate her room and find an alternative care facility. The parting stinger was a bill for almost £600 to clean my friend's room on her departure!

The management, reception team, all seniors, carers, housekeeping team, wellbeing team and kitchen staff have all been fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble, they are so friendly and helpful. The care home is lovely, it is always clean and smells clean (the best care home I have been in - no smell
of urine). We can't thank every one enough for looking after Mum so well.

My Mother and Father have been resident since March 2025, when they first arrived everything was fabulous and as promised. Since my last review staff have come and gone at an alarming rate, Managers don't last long and never introduce themselves, we are never informed what is going on and why changes
are being made, it disturbs my parents. The food quality has deteriorated badly and nowhere near what was promised. Meal times have been changed, again with no explanation, this has worried and unnerved my parents and also disappointed them as they are not receiving the quality of service that was promised yet they still continue to pay a premium for what was promised as a premium service. The facilities are excellent but all the staffing problems and shortages and changes are making things uncomfortable. It would help massively if communication between Management and residents families existed allowing us to understand the changes and prevent my parents and myself from undue worry.
