We visited a neighbour in for a 2-week stay after surgery. The tick boxes represent what we saw and heard, and our neighbour's comments (she was so pleased that she booked another week's stay - testimony of her experience of care, respect and superb care). The staff and managers were kind, friendly
and responsive to the smallest needs. The buildings, private rooms and public places were warm, immaculate and spacious - essential for safety. The atmosphere was calm, quiet and relaxing.

Mum & Dad stayed for a weeks respite. The staff were amazing, very welcoming, friendly and attentive. The rooms are beautifully presented & comfortable. Mum really enjoyed joining in with some of the activities & it gave her the rest and respite from constantly caring for my dad who has Alzheimer's.
Dad enjoyed a morning in the cinema room watching one of his favourite old movie musicals & they both enjoyed sitting outside in the gardens.
During their stay it happened to be their 60th wedding anniversary & all the staff went above & beyond to make their day special. As a family we enjoyed lunch together in the private dining room which had been thoughtfully decorated with Diamond Anniversary balloons & banners. The staff had all signed a card & at tea time they were given a special anniversary cake.
The only small downside was that they missed having fresh fruit in their diet. Perhaps it could be offered at breakfast or made available in the lounges alongside the crisps & biscuits.

My family member has been at Westwood for a while now, and I honestly can't thank the team enough for everything they do. From day one, the staff have been so kind, patient and caring - nothing is ever too much trouble for them. You can tell how much pride they take in their work and how much they genuinely
care about the residents. The manager and the whole team go above and beyond every single day, and it really shows in the atmosphere of the home - it's warm, welcoming and full of love.
It's never an easy decision moving a loved one into care, but knowing they're in such safe and caring hands has been a huge comfort to our family. I honestly couldn't recommend Westwood more highly - they're a credit to what proper care should be.

Mum moved in in early September and transformation has been incredible. She looks so much better with greater attention to her hygiene, care clothes and making sure she looks presentable. Her clothes are being cared for just like at home. She is laughing and engaging again as a result of the great carers
who engage well and understand how to communicate with her and take the time to do so. The activity programme has also reignited her interest and happiness. Couldn't have wished for a better outcome changing care homes. Feel like we have Mum back again!!!

It's never easy seeing a relative need to leave their home, but seeing my aunty so relaxed & happy at West Wood was marvellous. What a lovely place, serene with beautiful rooms and attentive, caring staff.
Couldn't imagine a nicer place.

As a friend of a former resident, I am extremely disappointed with the service provided. My friend has dementia and is physically disabled following a stroke so is entirely dependent on carers to get her up and allow her access to the facilities. On visits, I noted the amount of time she was spending
in her room, missing out on group activities and time in the garden. When this matter was raised by her Power of Attorney, management staff made no attempt to take responsibility or address the issues raised. The tone of email correspondence from the home manager was hostile and they repeatedly refused requests to meet face to face to discuss how to move forward. As the situation escalated, a complaint was made to the CQC. Soon after, my friend was informed that she was to be evicted from the home giving her 28 days to vacate her room and find an alternative care facility. The parting stinger was a bill for almost £600 to clean my friend's room on her departure!

The management, reception team, all seniors, carers, housekeeping team, wellbeing team and kitchen staff have all been fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble, they are so friendly and helpful. The care home is lovely, it is always clean and smells clean (the best care home I have been in - no smell
of urine). We can't thank every one enough for looking after Mum so well.

My Mother and Father have been resident since March 2025, when they first arrived everything was fabulous and as promised. Since my last review staff have come and gone at an alarming rate, Managers don't last long and never introduce themselves, we are never informed what is going on and why changes
are being made, it disturbs my parents. The food quality has deteriorated badly and nowhere near what was promised. Meal times have been changed, again with no explanation, this has worried and unnerved my parents and also disappointed them as they are not receiving the quality of service that was promised yet they still continue to pay a premium for what was promised as a premium service. The facilities are excellent but all the staffing problems and shortages and changes are making things uncomfortable. It would help massively if communication between Management and residents families existed allowing us to understand the changes and prevent my parents and myself from undue worry.

My experience of Corrstone House Care Home has been predominately very positive. The care of my father is appropriate for his needs and the staff team relate to him in a positive and respectful way. There is a good sense of humour which he enjoys. Medical attention has been very good with weekly visits
from professional well trained paramedics and swift response to health needs. One concern is with fire safety and evacuation procedure which is not visible. Also no help on Avery Website? Wonder why not?

The person I care for has been at West Wood since end of November 2024. In that time we have had 3 managers and no manager. She has had 4 senior carers. All staff have been courteous and polite and we have forged a relationship with all of them. However, no one has told us when they have left. I am
not informed changes (except the manager), all of which is very unsettling. I know it's a new home and you can expect teething problems but these are exceptional. I wonder why you can recruit but not retain staff.

Moving into Carrstone House has given my mum a new lease of life. From the moment of her arrival she has been treated with the upmost respect from all members of staff. The home has a great community spirit which gives it a lovely atmosphere. There are lots of activities for mum to join in with and
I think this has made the biggest difference to Mum's life as she is doing things that she hasn't done for years, which has given her purpose to her day. As a relative I have always been made very welcome and any information about my mum is always readily available. Thank you to all the staff for all your hard work.

My father spent time in West Wood Care Home after being discharge from hospital. Initially he was very anxious and confused but as his health improved he became more relaxed and settled. All the staff at West Wood were so kind to dad and all our family. They would sit and chat to dad if he didn't
feel good, nothing was too much trouble. Dad loved going to the dining room and choosing his breakfast each morning and the kitchen staff were so friendly and patient with him. He would often talk about the lovely nursing and care staff including night staff who would wash and dress him in the morning. Although dad was happy to go home, his experience at West Wood was very good, which he loves to tell his friends!

Helping my mother to choose full time care was a hard decision to make, but the whole West Wood team have been amazing! Nothing is too much trouble. My mother is so well looked after, and she adores all the people who care for her. The quality of the staff is exceptional, caring, efficient and on top
of everything.
The biggest decision my mother now has to make, is what to have for lunch! The food is excellent too, all home cooked and varied. I feel I have got my mother back, she is more relaxed and happier than I have seen her in years! I also love that West Wood has a really good connection with the local surgery, with a GP popping in weekly.
The purpose built building is beautiful, clean and spacious, with some lovely touches -like the big lounges, the hydro bath and cinema. The garden will be lovely in the summer.
I never thought my mother would settle in a home, but she genuinely loves West Wood!
