Thank you so much for choosing Ascot Grange. We very much enjoyed getting to know you and your family and are so glad we could support you in your wish to return home; you always know where we are if you do decide you need to return!
Dad has been at Sonning Gardens for 5 months now . It was a very hard start as he went in for respite at first but after few days , realised he needed alot more help than first expected. With the help of the wonderful staff he was moved up to Woodlands floor & received a diagnosis quickly. Dad has settled into daily life here now , few ups & downs with him but we have had guidance along the way from the wonderful team .
Thanks everyone x

I am pleased with how quickly my mum has settled into life at Sonning Gardens. There is a warmth and inclusivity about the home and it is a lovely environment both in and outside. We enjoy sitting in the garden and the grounds are very well kept. There are lots of spaces to walk and that freedom is so important. It is great to have a selection of activities during the day to give the residents some entertainment and there is a lot of interaction between the residents and the staff. My mum celebrated her 85th birthday and she was made to feel very special with her balloons and cake. These extra touches mean so much. My mum's room is comfortable, clean and well maintained. She is happy here and above all safe which is the most reassuring for all her family.

Thank you so much for your kind words and recommendation. We're delighted we could support your father at short notice. Lisa and Gideon will be thrilled to hear your lovely feedback, and we'll be sure to pass on your thanks to them. It's wonderful to know that your father's two-week respite stay...
On more than one occasion I had first-hand experience of unacceptably long response times for call buttons, and over the 3½ weeks Mum was there I learnt from several residents that overly-long response times were a regular problem. They certainly were for Mum. The garden here is amazing. The rooms are 5 star. The food is top quality, and some of the carers are lovely. But I do not believe there is a culture of care at Sonning Gardens: from both the General Manager and Deputy refusing to meet with me; to the Client Liaison Manager telling me (at best) half-truths; to what appears to be not enough carers to cover the needs of immobile residents. I would summarise the culture here as "it's our way or the highway", and suspect it starts at the very top.
Mum hated it here, but is fairly happy in her new care home. I'm writing as a warning to anyone who puts an immobile loved-one here. All that glitters is not gold.

I gave a review but I wanted to put it on social media on a daily basis but I decided not to. The care is so good but was not allowed to post it to social media, I don't know why. I read of when who in their 60s want to put their feet up or travel, but instead ended up looking after their mother's who were 90 and grandchildren. I would be glad to read my notes, we thought care home were expensive but at home I looked after my hubby, professional carers were 120 a night and 120 a day 240x30=7200 a month. On top of that we lived in a retirement flat, so we paid 2000 for maintenance charge, land rate, rates police service set on 4 premises her wages and on top of that we had cleaner bills. I told my husband I will look after you darling, soon turned into what do you want now? Why didn't you ask when I was standing up, let me have a few minutes to myself. He wanted to use the loo at night. I had to help him. My answer was why didn't you go before bed? Can't you hold it till morning? I prayed every night that god should let me die. All those thoughts are now gone. I had difficulties that seems to have gone now, along with acidity. At home we all made meals like water and 2 veg done. The food here is too healthy and such wide choice. They are so good with drinks choice and puddings. At home relatives had to take us to doctors, dentist, hosp etc. My relative drove 60 miles, we paid for her time and petrol. All those costs have now gone, people who think care homes are expensivemust sit at home all day and watching TV. My husband wanted to watch, I started upsetting him. The activities here also the food, even the lady preist who's cause is excellent her service is the only one I didn't fall asleep in. Maintenance man is excellent and cooperative. He has quick solutions.

All members of staff provide an atmosphere of warmth and love. My Mum received wonderful care throughout her time at Sonning Gardens but especially in her final days. She was treated with dignity, care and tenderness which helped our family deal with such a difficult situation. I would strongly recommend Sonning Gardens to anyone who is looking for a Care Home for themselves or a loved one.
Sonning Gardens is a special place with very special people.

Our experience with Sonning Gardens has been great from first meeting Tracey to view the home through to the present time. Tracey was very helpful and kind at a very difficult time for us as a family. The transition into Sonning Gardens was smooth for my Mum. The staff are always so pleasant and helpful, they are very respectful towards Mum and she is never made to feel they are too busy for her. The Bistro area for sitting and socialising is a welcoming area for the residents and family alike to have a tea/coffee cake. The gardens are lovely to wander around or sit and chat. The activities team are always on the go chatting and encouraging the residents to enjoy themselves. There is always something happening from singers, crafts and visits from schools or talks. The dinning area is nicely set out and when family visit from Kent they enjoy sharing a nice meal there with Mum.
I would recommend Sonning Gardens to anyone looking for a lovely setting for their family member.

My 98 year old uncle went to Sonning Gardens having lived independently his whole life. It was a difficult transition for him, and the staff have made it so much easier with their care and respectful approach. We love walking around the beautiful gardens and enjoying coffee and pastries in the bistro. I am kept informed of health concerns and any issues he has are resolved quickly. Such a relief to know my uncle is well cared for.

Following an absolutely horrendous experience at another local care home, we moved my dear friend to Ascot Grange. From the start the welcome was so warm, human, real and compassionate. The receptionist gave the best impression as she smiled warmly! Then came the manager, Rhian. Efficient, knowledgeable and honest who could ask for more? No one is perfect, and life is a journey of improvement. At every turn when things weren't quite as they needed to be, everyone pulled together to work as a team. Not once did we find the teams unapproachable, and always a solution was found. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ascot Grange and will be back for respite as needed. I'll miss some of the lovely other residents too who always made you smile. It's not easy getting older, and it's a real vocation to work in this area. Much credit to all those of you who truly care. It matters and it means a lot.

I moved my mother from Kent to be closer. Ascot Grange proved to be a very good decision; how does one choose?
The facilities are very good, modern and airy. Parking to visit was sometimes a challenge but something was usually available. Food and activities all seemed to be high class but mum did not make much use of them. Most importantly the staff, carers, nurses and management were available, kind and supportive. A great choice for mum.

We looked at many care homes, trying to find the 'one' for our mum. Walking into Ascot Grange was like walking into a five star hotel! From the very beginning, the staff were so welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. They made us feel less guilty about having to put mum into a care home. Whenever we visited mum, we were always greeted with a cheery "hello" from the receptionist and staff. When mum moved upstairs to Devonish Ward, the transition was so smooth. When we visited her, it was just like we were all one big family. When mum deteriorated and needed a hoist to safely move her from her bed to her wheelchair, they spoke to her the entire time putting her at ease. Sadly mum passed in January, and again, the care and compassion shown to mum and our family was beautiful.
I would highly recommend Ascot Grange to anyone looking for a care home

Dear Lisa, thank you for your kind words. I have passed on your feedback to all the staff teams. The staff, particularly within Devenish, miss Mum a goo deal. Mum became a big part of everyone's lives in both communities in the home. I used to get on really well with Mum and would always manage...
Mark and his outstanding team at Ascot Grange looked after my mother with respect, dignity, care and compassion over her three year stay. She would tell me how happy she was, that Ascot Grange was her home and how much she loved the staff, often saying they were like family and friends to her. She liked to argue and laugh with her Carers as if they were her own children. The restaurant team always noted her precise requirements and never failed to give her exactly what she wanted with a smile. She was very complimentary about the food (and drink) Team leaders and management invariably kept me informed as things developed and decisions, big and small, needed to be made.
I, and i know my mother would unreservedly recommend Ascot Grange.

Dear Peter, thank you for your feedback and kind words. I have shared your review with the the whole team at Ascot Grange. Mum stayed with us for 3 years and made key impressions with everyone. Her sense of humour, canniness, kindness and love made us all feel like we were her children as well....
Having lost my Mum to Alzheimers in 2021, my Dad moved to Ascot Grange by choice in March 2022, foreseeing the additional care that he would need in future years despite being an 'Assisted Living' resident initially. I have to say that in the last four years of his life here (aged 97), he really enjoyed his time in the company of all the residents and the Care Team and regularly participated in the various activities, whether it be exercise, shopping trips, other outings or resident committee meetings. From what we witnessed, especially in his final years, the care and dedication shown to all the residents by the Ascot Grange Team was of the highest standard and having viewed many of the Care facilities in the local area prior to choosing Ascot Grange, we have no doubt that the 'hotel-like' ambience, general look-and-feel, and staff dedication to residents, helps it stand 'head and shoulders' above others. Highly recommended by all our family who had the privilege of visiting Dad here.

Simon - thank you for your review and feedback. Your father was a huge part of Ascot Grange and helped to shape its service by actively being involved in many resident-staff working groups. Your Father was an ardent advocate for resident service and wellbeing at Ascot Grange, which really helped...
After looking at 5 others in the area we literally burst into tears when we walked in to Ascot Grange. The greeting, overall look and the demeanour of the residents was incredible. We were looking for a Care Home that would take and be suitable for both my parents, Ascot Grange was head and shoulders above anything else we had seen.
My parents have been there 9 months now and the only thing I can add is that it was 100% the right move! Dad was 3 months bed bound before he moved in and for the last 7 months he has been moved into a wheelchair and joined his wife and other residents for meals and activities, nothing short of incredible! The staff are angels, patience of saints, smiles of masterpieces and hearts of pure gold, they are truly remarkable and have now become part of our family and we of the home's. Visiting is a joyous and enjoyable time, plenty of social or private areas for us to use whilst enjoying a drink and cake in the company of our loved ones.

My mother moved in to Astbury Manor in February 2026 and settled in immediately, which was a great relief. She is very happy there. The staff are fabulous & friendly and have treated my mother with patience and respect at all times. Despite my mother's Alzheimer's she is very sociable and loves to join in the many activities on offer. The facilities at Astbury Manor are excellent and it's like walking into a 5 start hotel. Everywhere is very clean & tidy and the place is clearly well run.
I honestly cannot rate the place highly enough.

From the first meeting - walk about it was obvious to me this care home was perfect for my aunt. The " feel" is one of listening, caring and making sure each resident is number one! Individually is taken into account along with dignity and respect. Smiling happy staff ( tick) Happy residents alert and engaging (tick) comfortable and clean amazing choice of food - help with eating etc (all ticks) Nothing we asked was too much trouble and my aunt says she has never felt so warm, safe and cared for. It was the very best decision we made for our aunt. We visited many many homes in area and this one stood out by a mile.
Every time we visit it is reinforced by the smiles there it is the best!

We have been very pleased with our interaction with Sonning Gardens. Our initial knowledge of Sonning Gardens came from a friend who had a relative already in SG and who provided good reports to us. We therefore enquired, asking SG if they would accommodate my aunt for a period of respite care. Towards the end of the initial period it was clear that my aunt was settling in very well. She liked the staff, liked the meal options and was feeling comfortable in the surroundings. We discussed with her therefore the option of extending her stay on a permanent basis as she was gradually coming to realise that she was getting care and help she needed whilst retaining a fair degree if independence.
SG were in a position to agree to a transfer to permanent residence and we have had no reason to regret that decision.

From the moment we walked through the door and were met by Tracey, we knew this was where we wanted our beloved Dad to be. Tracey showed us so much compassion and answered all of our questions. It was the first Care Home we had visited, and she encouraged us to look at others to help us make the right decision for Dad.
We did this, and it confirmed even more that Sonning Gardens was the absolute right place for Dad.
The Nurses and Carers treat Dad with dignity, kindness and respect. It is wonderful to see his eyes light up and his smile when he sees them.
The home is so beautiful and clean and the activities that they offer are outstanding. There is something for everyone. I have experienced them myself on my visits and I am always welcomed so kindly.
My Dad is so happy here and in turn that makes his family all content. We know he is in the best place.
Thank you Sonning Gardens.
