Father in law was warmly welcomed and settled well for his two week respite stay. Staff were attentive and respectful and friendly towards family as we dropped him off for his first stay. At the assessment, the manager and other staff spoke kindly and specifically to FiL which reassured us of their
patient first approach. A very good experience

Nothing was too much trouble from the team at Acer to help me get Mum's room ready so that when I moved her in it all felt familiar which is important when you have dementia. They went out of their way to understand Mums history and her likes and dislikes, and made sure to welcome her. She has settled
really quickly which is such a relief for me. I would not hesitate to recommend them for looking after someone with dementia.

As soon as you walk through the doors you are met with a friendly and happy environment. This goes for the happy friendly and engaging staff through to the residents themselves.
Our mother settled quickly into her lovely room with private ensuite wet room, overlooking private gardens. The standard
of the accommodation is excellent, clean with a fresh and pleasant atmosphere. The amenities are not short of what you'd find in a high level hotel.
There are regular activities each day to suit most needs.
The level of care is great. The support provided extending to our family as well as our mother. The health issues she has had have been handled sensitively and we have been kept fully involved, giving us confidence that she is being well cared for.
All the staff work so hard and their energy and commitment is obvious to see.
Thank you to all the staff at Acer House, what a great team you are and thank you for everything you do in making the home such a special place.

My Mum is at Acer House and I'm so happy that she is so well looked after. Acer house is really well managed, all the people who work there are lovely. It's spotlessly clean and the rooms are well furnished, my Mums room is lovely and she is happy there. They organise lots for the residents to do
and make sure everyone is aware of what is available. The food is lovely and family can also eat with residents for a small charge. I am so pleased we found Acer House for my Mum to stay at, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere for their loved ones to stay.
Reply from Sam Ealden, Manager at Acer House Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for taking the time to review Acer House Care Home, we are pleased to hear you are happy with the service and mum is settling nicely into her new home. I have had a continuous association with AH since 12/2012. It is not the home it once was. With a few exceptions interaction between staff and residents is transactional, not conversational or stimulating. There are different approaches between the ground and dementia care floors. For more than 2
years activities have been extremely poor (self-led activities for residents with dementia are inappropriate). Communication between the home and family is erratic and dependent entirely on individual staff. Turnover of staff is high. Despite supposedly having key workers this has never happened in my experience. Food choice is now very limited, lunch offers a main course of either vegetarian or non-veg. Relatives meetings are held quarterly but minutes have not been circulated to those unable to attend since February 2024. I have no issues with personal care. Excellent hairdressing and chiropody services are available. Front of house staff are friendly and welcoming. I would not use again!
Reply from Sam Ealden, Manager at Acer House Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for taking the time to review Acer House care Home. We appreciate open and honest feedback, had these issues been raised with a member of the team we could have worked constructively and in partnership to improve in areas you feel did not meet your expectation. Our hairdressing and chiropody services are brilliant, since the departure of your loved one we have also introduced a dental service provided at the home as we believe holistic care and support is the best way to care and support all of our residents.

My mother entered into this care home as she was no longer safe to live on her own and in a short time she has settled in better than we could have hoped for. She has a lovely bedroom with shower room looking onto trees and has her own patio. The staff from the cleaners to the manageress have all been
very welcoming and friendly towards my mother which has made her transition much smoother and they couldn't be more kind or efficient. The amenities are excellent, a hairdressers, spa room and cinema room and a programme of activities for the residents to enjoy and occupy themselves. The food looks lovely and is prepared on the premises and their is plenty of comfortable chairs both in the lounge and the spacious garden. To have mum in such a safe and caring environment where she can be more mobile than in a long time gives myself and my wife peace of mind. Only been two weeks but we are so pleased that mum is happy and well looked after. Excellent care home.

I wanted to take a moment to thank you all for the care, kindness, and dedication you show to my dad each and every day. It's always so clear from my visits just how much you all genuinely care.
It gives me great comfort knowing he is in such capable and compassionate hands. The warmth, patience,
and attention you show truly makes a difference-not just to him, but to me as well.
Thank you for everything you do, often without recognition. It means more than I can properly put into words

The staff at Acer House are caring, friendly and professional. My father is well looked after and is safe in their care. The home is spacious and well organised with a good variety of meal and entertainment options. We have peace of mind that Dad is being well cared for both physically and mentally.
There's also a very good medical back up from the GP practice with regular clinician visits to Acer House. We are more than happy with Acer House and the wonderful team who make it all happen.
Reply from Sam Ealden, Manager at Acer House Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for taking the time to review Acer House Care Home, we are pleased to hear both yours and dads experience has been positive. I chose Acer House for Mum to go to, for a month's respite, after she had been seriously ill in hospital. Two months later and Mum has now made this lovely house and gardens her permanent home. I cannot thank the friendly, caring, professional staff enough for all their kindness and care and reassurance
towards Mum. Nothing is too much trouble and we can always ask for and receive help at any time. Mum has friends and wonderful carers in her new home. All of her family and friends love to visit Acer and feel at home there too. Mum is happy and safe, which makes us happy too.

Mum has been at Poets Mews for a few months now. When she arrived she was very reluctant to be there. Since then she has, unfortunately, had several stays in hospital. I cannot fault the staff for their attentiveness and care in getting Mum the help she needed every time she needed to go into hospital.
Absolutely fantastic and made us, her family, feel so reassured knowing that she was in the best hands possible. Thank you. Now that Mum is back in the care home, she is much happier and knows herself that it is the best place for her to be. She is fond of several of the staff, gets involved in as many of the great activities as she can, loves having her hair done by the hairdresser and enjoys going up to the cinema to see a film. She has made a few friends as well. Us as a family also feel very welcome when we visit. The staff are friendly, helpful and professional.
Reply from Julie Bees, Manager at Poets Mews Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for your lovely feedback which we will share with the staff team. We are very happy to see Mum making friends and enjoying life at Poets Mews.

Joyce has been a resident at Poet's Muse for 14 months. In that time she has been treated with kindness, professionalism, care and fondness by every member of staff in every job role day and night. Everyone plays an integral part in Mum's stay. Her health, wellbeing and stability are assessed daily and
appropriate action taken along with discussing and informing us at every step.
Mum has thrived since being at Poet's Muse, she is calm , content and happy due to the wonderful care, food, activities, cleanliness and maintenance of her room and surroundings. She loves having her hair done every week. All the relatives are made to feel so welcome day or night and we have been made to feel part of her new family. Grandchildren and great grandchildren love visiting ' Nana's Hotel' and it really is, with an abundance of additional extras. They think of every little detail to make residents and relatives feel wanted and special. Thank you all so much, we can truly relax when we aren't with Mum

My father in law has been in Poets Mews nearly 3 years.
After initially enjoying his stay in the residential wing he's now in the nursing section after a long stay in hospital. The improvement in his health after that hospital stay has been great and is down to the wonderful nursing team in that area.
We've found the management team, nursing team and all the staff so professional, kind, approachable and caring.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Poets Mews to anyone, be it for residential, respite, nursing or dementia care.
Keep up the great work team PM. 10/10 from us!

The Care our mum receives at Poets Mews is excellent. In particular the range of activities are brilliant. The Food is wonderful and the accommodation is like a hotel.
We always feel welcome and part of mum's experience.
Issues that I would like improved :
*more one to one talking and walking with
mum, residents should have at least 45 mins a day when staff talk with them and walk them around to keep them mobile
*when there is an activity- remembering to get mum to it,
*more care on personal hygiene ( teeth brushing and nail cleaning in particular),
*more active watching of TV. The Lounge TV is often on pause when I visit and it should be that someone ensures that there is always something on in the TV room.
Reply from Julie Bees, Manager at Poets Mews Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for your lovely comments and for your feedback. We have now purchased an additional TV for the main lounge and the previous TV, which is also an activity table, has now been set up as the activity table for permanent use as that.

My father was lucky enough to move into Poets Mews in Sept 2025 after a fairly long illness. During the 3 months of his stay until he sadly passed away, his care was second to none. The staff were exemplary and looked after my dad as if they were family. In fact evey single member of staff was utterly
professional and also just lovely, caring people who couldn't do enough for Dad, or us, his family. I know that my dad felt extremely at home at Poets Mews, he wanted for nothing, their attention to detail and patience was heartwarming. Towards the end, the team rallied around us and made such a sad time loving and respectful. As a family, we can't thank everyone at Poets Mews enough for their support when my dad passed away recently and for their wonderful continued care of my mom. Thank you, everyone, from the bottom of our hearts.
Reply from Julie Bees, Manager at Poets Mews Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you so much for your wonderful review. I have visited a fair number of residential and nursing care homes and regard this as one of the best. The home has a well organised staff structure of caring people at all levels. Understood external access points must be locked at homes, it can be most frustrating ringing a bell and waiting at the
door for a random response (hopefully) whereas Acer have a welcoming receptionist with vision of the front entrance controlling resident safety. On entering there is a warm and fresh smelling ambience and the staff are happy to accompany you, if appropriate, to meet residents. There appears to be plenty of facilities to stimulate residents of varying abilities and they are treated with a good level of dignity when individual needs are delivered by the staff. The food quality and choice is quite exceptional and I have always witnessed plenty of nice smiles from operatives and residents alike when visiting.
Reply from Sam Ealden, Manager at Acer House Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for taking the time to leave such a positive review, we are pleased to hear your experience with the home was so positive. The amazing staff & top notch care provided makes Acer House exceptional! The GM is: professional, approachable, hands on, leads her team by example & has a great sense of humour. She motivates & inspires an excellent team & the residents & staff are 1 big family. Every team member demonstrates great
compassion, patience, respect & professionalism to the residents & us families.- even on the most challenging days.Staff are always cheerful & very supportive to residents & families alike. It is such a relief to know mum is both safe & well cared for. I'm so grateful for the extraordinary & individual care mum receives. The staff are proactive in involving us if they have any concerns regarding mum's advancing Altzheimers & take time to involve us in any decisions/changes needed. In 1-1 the staff are at present aiming to get a 2-way conversation for as long as possible & as mum likes her new 6 x 24 piece jigsaws are going to match the activity to what mum enjoys & can do.
