My nan came in for respite on 15-01-26.
She loved it so much that she is now permanent. Staff are lovely, very friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. Food is good. Nan is happy and settled, and we always feel welcome visiting.

I chose Acer House for Mum to go to, for a month's respite, after she had been seriously ill in hospital. Two months later and Mum has now made this lovely house and gardens her permanent home. I cannot thank the friendly, caring, professional staff enough for all their kindness and care and reassurance
towards Mum. Nothing is too much trouble and we can always ask for and receive help at any time. Mum has friends and wonderful carers in her new home. All of her family and friends love to visit Acer and feel at home there too. Mum is happy and safe, which makes us happy too.
Reply from Sam Ealden, Manager at Acer House Care Home - Avery HealthcareThankyou for your feedback about Acer House Care home, we are so glad your mum ( and the family) have become part of our Acer House Family. WE strive to ensure all our residents and families feel comfortable and safe in our environment and aim to provide person centred care and support to improve quality of life for all

Mum has been at Poets Mews for a few months now. When she arrived she was very reluctant to be there. Since then she has, unfortunately, had several stays in hospital. I cannot fault the staff for their attentiveness and care in getting Mum the help she needed every time she needed to go into hospital.
Absolutely fantastic and made us, her family, feel so reassured knowing that she was in the best hands possible. Thank you. Now that Mum is back in the care home, she is much happier and knows herself that it is the best place for her to be. She is fond of several of the staff, gets involved in as many of the great activities as she can, loves having her hair done by the hairdresser and enjoys going up to the cinema to see a film. She has made a few friends as well. Us as a family also feel very welcome when we visit. The staff are friendly, helpful and professional.
Reply from Julie Bees, Manager at Poets Mews Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for your lovely feedback which we will share with the staff team. We are very happy to see Mum making friends and enjoying life at Poets Mews.

Joyce has been a resident at Poet's Muse for 14 months. In that time she has been treated with kindness, professionalism, care and fondness by every member of staff in every job role day and night. Everyone plays an integral part in Mum's stay. Her health, wellbeing and stability are assessed daily and
appropriate action taken along with discussing and informing us at every step.
Mum has thrived since being at Poet's Muse, she is calm , content and happy due to the wonderful care, food, activities, cleanliness and maintenance of her room and surroundings. She loves having her hair done every week. All the relatives are made to feel so welcome day or night and we have been made to feel part of her new family. Grandchildren and great grandchildren love visiting ' Nana's Hotel' and it really is, with an abundance of additional extras. They think of every little detail to make residents and relatives feel wanted and special. Thank you all so much, we can truly relax when we aren't with Mum

My father in law has been in Poets Mews nearly 3 years.
After initially enjoying his stay in the residential wing he's now in the nursing section after a long stay in hospital. The improvement in his health after that hospital stay has been great and is down to the wonderful nursing team in that area.
We've found the management team, nursing team and all the staff so professional, kind, approachable and caring.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Poets Mews to anyone, be it for residential, respite, nursing or dementia care.
Keep up the great work team PM. 10/10 from us!

The Care our mum receives at Poets Mews is excellent. In particular the range of activities are brilliant. The Food is wonderful and the accommodation is like a hotel.
We always feel welcome and part of mum's experience.
Issues that I would like improved :
*more one to one talking and walking with
mum, residents should have at least 45 mins a day when staff talk with them and walk them around to keep them mobile
*when there is an activity- remembering to get mum to it,
*more care on personal hygiene ( teeth brushing and nail cleaning in particular),
*more active watching of TV. The Lounge TV is often on pause when I visit and it should be that someone ensures that there is always something on in the TV room.
Reply from Julie Bees, Manager at Poets Mews Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for your lovely comments and for your feedback. We have now purchased an additional TV for the main lounge and the previous TV, which is also an activity table, has now been set up as the activity table for permanent use as that.

Poets Mews you make a difference and especially when it really counts. Many thanks to Ian who went out of his way today to take Dad to a hospice in Bristol to see his wife on her birthday., and to all the wonderful team that helped make it happen. We can't thank you enough.
From reception to personal
care, senior nursing staff to management and a special mention to Jude in entertainment. You are all amazing.

My father was lucky enough to move into Poets Mews in Sept 2025 after a fairly long illness. During the 3 months of his stay until he sadly passed away, his care was second to none. The staff were exemplary and looked after my dad as if they were family. In fact evey single member of staff was utterly
professional and also just lovely, caring people who couldn't do enough for Dad, or us, his family. I know that my dad felt extremely at home at Poets Mews, he wanted for nothing, their attention to detail and patience was heartwarming. Towards the end, the team rallied around us and made such a sad time loving and respectful. As a family, we can't thank everyone at Poets Mews enough for their support when my dad passed away recently and for their wonderful continued care of my mom. Thank you, everyone, from the bottom of our hearts.
Reply from Julie Bees, Manager at Poets Mews Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you so much for your wonderful review. It's our privilege to have been able to care for your Dad, and for us to continue to be able to support and care for your Mum. Your kind and lovely comments have been shared with the whole team.

I have visited a fair number of residential and nursing care homes and regard this as one of the best. The home has a well organised staff structure of caring people at all levels. Understood external access points must be locked at homes, it can be most frustrating ringing a bell and waiting at the
door for a random response (hopefully) whereas Acer have a welcoming receptionist with vision of the front entrance controlling resident safety. On entering there is a warm and fresh smelling ambience and the staff are happy to accompany you, if appropriate, to meet residents. There appears to be plenty of facilities to stimulate residents of varying abilities and they are treated with a good level of dignity when individual needs are delivered by the staff. The food quality and choice is quite exceptional and I have always witnessed plenty of nice smiles from operatives and residents alike when visiting.
Reply from Sam Ealden, Manager at Acer House Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for taking the time to leave such a positive review, we are pleased to hear your experience with the home was so positive. We aim to provide 5 star care and support not only to those living within our servicer but to each and every visitor that comes through the front door.

The amazing staff & top notch care provided makes Acer House exceptional! The GM is: professional, approachable, hands on, leads her team by example & has a great sense of humour. She motivates & inspires an excellent team & the residents & staff are 1 big family. Every team member demonstrates great
compassion, patience, respect & professionalism to the residents & us families.- even on the most challenging days.Staff are always cheerful & very supportive to residents & families alike. It is such a relief to know mum is both safe & well cared for. I'm so grateful for the extraordinary & individual care mum receives. The staff are proactive in involving us if they have any concerns regarding mum's advancing Altzheimers & take time to involve us in any decisions/changes needed. In 1-1 the staff are at present aiming to get a 2-way conversation for as long as possible & as mum likes her new 6 x 24 piece jigsaws are going to match the activity to what mum enjoys & can do.

My mother in law has been in Acer for six months, during this time, the care and attention she has been given has been absolutely amazing.
The highlight being Christmas day, every detail counted leading up to the day with activities and sing-alongs, the home decorated like a hotel and nothing too
much trouble, staff are a true credit to teamwork and togetherness, some even popped in to hand out presents on their day off.
Well done to all and a massive thank you.

I don't know where or how to start, my grandmother came to poets mews a year and 3 months ago and she had a fabulous time, lots of happy memories from trips to the garden centre to enjoying having her hair done in the hair salon at Poets Mews too puzzles and family meals and more, she enjoyed the food
and loved the staff, she had a sense of humour and this went down really well with others, sadly she passed away in November and the staff as always were amazing ensuring she wasn't in pain and that she was comfortable, to delivering food to the family who were taking it in turns to stay with her, the home is purpose built and has everything you could ever wish for!
A big thank you to the team for making my grandmothers stay a happy and memorable one, my family and I will be forever grateful, the management and all the team do a fantastic job! A big thank you to you all!

My mother has positively rallied since joining Poets Mews in April 2025. Staff on Mum's wing are friendly and genuinely liked by my mum. I personally appreciate how attentive staff are to Mum's needs, ensuring she is active in the mornings but can rest when she needs to as well. Very grateful to Poets
Mews responding quickly to any medical needs Mum has expressed in her short time there - I would thoughourly recommend Poets Mews to any familities needing peace of mind for the care of older relatives.

When last year we had to find a care home for my mother we looked around Acer House along with two other homes and first impressions were that this home was streets in front of the other two. 10 months later I am sure we made the right decision as I visited her regularly (about 3 times a week) and on
every occasion I found all the staff all playing a caring and supportive service in a care home which is well designed and maintained.

Very warm welcome on arrival.
All staff very friendly and helpful.
Room and communal areas spotlessly clean.
Food really good, excellent choices.
The summer fayre was entertaining.
Only negative was being woken during the nights by a resident shouting loudly for a nurse.

My mum had a 2 week respite stay following surgery. The staff were very welcoming, attentive and caring from
the start. The bedroom was lovely, the garden was beautiful and all the facilities were very well kept and clean. Overall the food was good but some days were better than others. The hairdresser
was lovely and my mum enjoyed watching a film in the cinema room. The only negative is there was a very noisy resident on my mums floor who was shouting at night, this only happened once or twice. My mum would definitely stay here again as her overall experience was very positive. The stay helped her recuperate and improve in readiness to go home.

My mum has been under the care of Acer House for the past couple of months and I couldn't be more pleased.
The staff have been very helpful, caring and empathetic to my mum and supportive in every way.
The admin staff and the other reception team are most welcoming and assist in any way they can;
going above and beyond my expectations.
The Medical staff have been great, as have two members of staff who have both been encouraging my mum to join activities and walk around their delightful grounds.
Mum says her food is enjoyable and plentiful.

Mum was unwell and wanted to go in Acer House. The staff were very understanding of the urgency and managed to get mum in swiftly and safely.
A week after mum was unwell, she had a raised temperature which the staff spotted quickly and treated. She then had an accidental fall and the team were there
very quickly to support.
Each time I was informed,
I also attended a couple of days ago and did not pass anyone on the desk in reception but had signed in. I took mum into the garden and went to get us a drink. The staff has already noticed mum had left her room and were out looking for her which was very reassuring as it had only been a couple of minutes.
They are always friendly and communicate to me what is going on and encourage mum to participate and leave her room to join in.
Reply from Sam Ealden, Manager at Acer House Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for taking the time to review Acer House Care Home, all feedback is valued and with this in mind I have initiated a change with regards to front of house being away from the desk to ensure the safest measures are in place to monitor visitors coming in and out of the building. I am pleased to hear staff looked for mum effectively when she was not in her usual place.
