The staff are always very helpful when approached - particularly the lady on the front desk who was working today.
Mum is not engaging with the home well but that is no change from living in her own home, quite honestly.
They show concern for mum and so try to engage and include her. She always say
everyone is very kind, the food is okay which is high praise from her!
Reply from Jamie Holmes, General Manager at Aire View Care Home - Avery HealthcareHello, thank your very much for your kind review. We are happy that mum is settled at Aire View and enjoys the food, we enjoy looking after mum. I will pass on your review to the wider staff team.

After spending some week searching for a suitable residential home for our mum, we were lucky enough to find Grove Park. day of her arrival and we have peace of mind that this will continue for every day she stays at Grove Park .

This care home advertises itself as specialising in dementia care, but our experience did not reflect this. My elderly father went in for respite (as a trial long term) with clear dementia symptoms, though without formal diagnosis - we were assured his needs could be met. However, he was later asked
to leave because his needs were considered "too high," specifically due to frequent use of the call buzzer and demanding or verbally abusive behaviour. These behaviours are well-recognised symptoms of dementia, linked to confusion, anxiety and poor impulse control. We were therefore very surprised that a home claiming dementia expertise was unwilling or unable to manage them. I would strongly advise families to seek clear assurances about what level of dementia-related behaviour the home can genuinely support. The home itself is comfortable and reasonably well maintained but there was a strong smell of urine on the first and second floors, which detracted from the overall environment.
Reply from Lisa, Home Manager at Grove Park Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations, as we always aim to provide high-quality care and a positive, supportive environment for every resident and their family. We take all concerns seriously, including those relating to dementia care and the environment within the home.

Greenholme House Care Home

from C D (Respite Resident) published on 3 February 2026
Submitted via Postal Card • Report
Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5
Was resident for 2 weeks (respite after hip surgery). On first impressions, new, with very well appointed rooms and great ensuite bathrooms and well furnished communal lounge - dining. Let down enormously by carer shortage - overworked, understaffed. Got my feet washed once (1) in 2 weeks! Meds usually
late. No carers available at breakfast to give order to cook! Too busy carers preparing residents for the day ahead. Food a huge let down, at £1,600 a week would have liked more than 1 x glass of wine with my supper/dinner
Reply from Alison McPhail, Customer Service Manager at Greenholme House Care HomeThank you for your feedback following your respite stay. We are pleased you found the home modern and well presented.

We are sorry that aspects of your experience did not meet expectations. Staffing levels are set in line with residents' assessed needs and were appropriate throughout your stay. Personal care is provided in accordance with individual requests and, had assistance such as foot care been requested, this would have been provided. Medication is administered at scheduled times in line with prescribing guidance, which may differ from routines at home.

In response to your breakfast preferences, additional produce was ordered to ensure your chosen options were available. Residents may also request additional refreshments, including more than one glass of wine with their meal.

We encourage concerns to be raised at the time so they can be addressed promptly. If you would like to discuss your feedback further, please feel free to contact us directly.

My mother has now been a resident at Greenholme for around 2 months. It was a struggle to persuade her to move from her home but within a week she was totally settled and is now very happy and her health and wellbeing has improved dramatically. The best thing about the home is the staff, they go above
and beyond to make the residents feel welcome by really getting to know them individually so that they can tailor the care and activities to their personal needs and interests. It is a very friendly and welcoming environment and it is a pleasure to visit.
Reply from Alison McPhail, Client Liaison Manager at Greenholme House Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to leave such a kind and thoughtful review. We are delighted to hear that your mother has settled so well and that her health and wellbeing have improved during her time with us.

We understand how difficult the transition into care can be, so it is especially rewarding to know that she now feels happy, comfortable, and at home at Greenholme. Your comments about our staff truly mean a great deal to us. Our team is passionate about getting to know each resident as an individual and providing personalised care and activities that support their needs, interests, and independence.

It is also lovely to hear that you find Greenholme House a friendly and welcoming place to visit. Thank you again for your trust and for sharing your experience - your feedback is greatly appreciated by the whole team.

Aire View Care Home - Avery Healthcare

from Alan H (Husband of Resident) published on 16 January 2026
Submitted via Postal Card • Report
Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5
(1) I have used this care home 3 times, each time I requested that they book my wife for an appointment and one for a chiropodist! Neither were ever done !!!
(2) The entrance door was broken for weeks, which is unfortunate, but leaving it unlocked & unsupervised 24 hours a day is not acceptable considering
the nature of the building.
(3) On leaving the home on one occasion I was handed my wife's medication box which had pills left in the box which should have been taken !!! On another occasion when I was leaving the home, they lost the medication box !!!! I had to go back later in the day to collect it after they found it. This meant my wife had not been given her correct medication as & when it was prescribed !!!
(4) On several occasions I had to put the waste bin in the corridor as it had remained unemptied for several days & contained uneaten fruit.
(5) I supplied the home with about 100 D.V.D.s (I do voluntary work for a hospice & they send all D.V.D.s to land fill !!! ) yet each room had D.V. D. players which did not work!
(6) On one occasion when my wife moved in, there were no coat hangers! So I offered to supply them free of charge (the hospice again) I was told that your laundry company supplied them free of charge so they were not needed. (They thanked me) Next time I check the Wardrobe it had over 50 coat hangers inside. Childish to say the least!
(7) As a retired heating engineer I could not help but notice when I was leaving one day, (It was summer) that some 80 % of the windows were open (The rooms were too hot!) This is a great way to waste huge amounts of money !!! The heating should have the room temperature turned down to 18 degrees overnight, saving money and making it more comfortable for the occupants!
(8) I keep getting repeated emails requesting me to pay the fee's that are outstanding, firstly I paid all the fee's before my wife moved in! Secondly the emails are "No reply" so how am I expected to resolve this?
Reply from Jamie Holmes, General Manager at Aire View Care Home - Avery HealthcareHi, thank you for your review. We take all reviews seriously & value all feedback. I am sorry if we have not met expectations on the 3 separate stays. I can confirm that your wife did see the Chiropodist & the Hairdresser on the following dates - Chiropodist 24/10/25 & 05/12/25. Hairdresser - 29/12/25 & 03/12/25. This is why you have received the no reply emails, these are in relation to the outstanding invoices for these services, not for care fees.
Unfortunately, the entrance doors were broke for a period of time, we had to obtain parts from a special supplier out of the country. Reception is manned from 8am till 5.30pm. Outside of those times, the doors remained locked.
We supplied coat hangers as per your request, I can only apologise if we placed too many in the wardrobe.
The heating is set at a temperature suitable for the residents in the home given they feel the cold more, the windows are opened at intervals to circulate fresh air into the home.
Best wishes, take care.
