This care home advertises itself as specialising in dementia care, but our experience did not reflect this. My elderly father went in for respite (as a trial long term) with clear dementia symptoms, though without formal diagnosis - we were assured his needs could be met. However, he was later asked to leave because his needs were considered "too high," specifically due to frequent use of the call buzzer and demanding or verbally abusive behaviour. These behaviours are well-recognised symptoms of dementia, linked to confusion, anxiety and poor impulse control. We were therefore very surprised that a home claiming dementia expertise was unwilling or unable to manage them. I would strongly advise families to seek clear assurances about what level of dementia-related behaviour the home can genuinely support. The home itself is comfortable and reasonably well maintained but there was a strong smell of urine on the first and second floors, which detracted from the overall environment.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations, as we always aim to provide high-quality care and a positive, supportive environment for every resident and their family. We take all concerns seriously, including those relating to dementia care and the environment within the home.
This care home is truly exceptional. The staff are passionate about their jobs going above and beyond to ensure everyone feels safe, valued and genuinely cared for. The passion for what they do shines through in all interactions. They offer a full range of activities daily the team make this care home a truly wonderful place, giving family peace of mind that relatives are well looked after.

Our 96 year old mother stayed at Grove Park for 5 weeks of respite care following a decline in her health and the need for 24 hour care and support. Having lived independently for 10 years since our father's passing all the staff helped with her transition to her new surroundings with care and sensitivity. Mum was encouraged to join in with activities and mix with other residents while at the same time respecting her need to have personal time to herself which really helped her adjust to her new environment. The same flexible approach was offered to mum at meal times where she chose between eating in the dining room or in her room. Mum was made to feel very welcome from day one as were family members when visiting.

My mum has been a resident for just over a year. In that time she has thrived, she has gained the weight she lost when in hospital and regularly tells me what a lovely home she has. Her room overlooks woodland and we watch the foxes, squirrels and birds from her window. The staff are excellent, so caring. They smile even when under pressure. True professionals. I couldn't ask for a better home for my mum. My thanks to all the staff.
