Review of Chorleywood Manor Care Home - Avery Collection from Peter M (Husband of Resident) published on 19 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My wife, who has Alzheimer's, has been at Chorleywood Manor since January 2026. The carers in the Reminicence floor have been exceptional in welcoming her and making her comfortable . Her personal care can be a problem but she always looks well, clean and tidy. She tends to take herself off on walks around the area she has access to and whenever I arrive to visit her the carers always know where she is. When she was admitted she was not eating well, but since she has been here she has started eating and putting on weight. On occasions when she has needed medical attention this has been immediate with close attention to her and the family informed. The daily activities (music, exercise etc. are comprehensive and coordinated by enthusiastic carers who do their best to include everyone in the activities.

I cannot recommend the staff and amenities here enough.

My mum has been resident since February after an earlier respite stay.

The transition from home has been hard for her but I do not feel she could be in better hands. The warmth of the staff is clear from the moment you arrive - the team on the front desk always fill me in about how my mum is and what she's been doing. The care staff and management team are equally attentive. My mum has told me she is aware that the team keep a close eye on her but this is always discreet and unintrusive so she feels safe but never scrutinized.

We had a lovely singalong at a recent garden party and I was bowled away by how the care team attended to residents' needs while having a great time singing and dancing together. There is good continuity within the staff, which means the team know all the residents and their needs well.

To help my mum settle in, the team gently remind her about activities she might like, and encourage her to join groups on the outdoor terrace for a cup of tea.

My 92 year-old Mother has been a resident (requiring support with living with Dementia) - for two months. Despite her moving from her home in the north, she settled into Elton House immediately. Mum is relaxed and happy - often commenting 'how beautiful the indoor and garden spaces are'. She is loving the variety of meals offered from the menu, enjoying the company of other residents - and is known by name - by the enthusiastic staff who always find time to stop and say 'hello'. When we leave Mum, following our visits, there is no doubt that she is safe - and all her needs are being met. Elton House has the appearance of a luxury hotel, and the feel of 'home' - exactly what Mum needs during this time in her life.

My Mum went in for respite care for 2 weeks as I was going on holiday and she worries when I am away and not available if she needs me. Although she was wary at first about going in, she absolutely loved it and thought all the staff were wonderful. Following her stay she has decided that she does want to go in as a permanent resident as she just felt much more confident and supported in there than living at home on her own, so I will be looking to arrange that in the near future.

Overall Experience

All of the staff are caring, compassionate, friendly, and approachable, and nothing ever seems too much trouble. We are always greeted with a warm smile whenever we visit, and communication is excellent, keeping us well informed about our mum's health and wellbeing.

The home itself is clean, modern, and welcoming, while still maintaining a homely atmosphere. The dementia unit feels very safe and secure, giving us real peace of mind.

The food is of a high standard, nutritious, and varied, with alternatives always available to suit residents' individual tastes and preferences. There is also a wide range of facilities and activities, with staff making every effort to ensure they are inclusive for all residents.

After being transferred from hospital six weeks ago in a very poor condition, our mum now seems to be thriving at Elton House and is very happy there.

We feel truly reassured knowing she is being so well cared for.

Thank you Nadia and all the team!

Review of Chorleywood Manor Care Home - Avery Collection from Kirsty P (Friend of Resident) published on 4 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My mother-in-law was a very contented resident here so when a family friend needed to move from living alone, this was my first choice. Having toured most of the care homes in the area, we felt that Chorleywood Manor offered an excellent balance of dignified independent living alongside help with tasks and reassurance where necessary. The staff body is consistently kind and offer high quality care and, importantly, there is low turnover so there are always familiar faces around. The manager, Fiona, is responsive to individual needs and the lady, Tracy, who first met us and arranged the settling in went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Finally cleanliness and food quality is high. This alongside the extremely well-behaved, occasionally-seen resident dog means Chorleywood Manor felt very quickly like home, thank you.

My mum walked in with natural trepidation on 28/4 after 68 years in her own home. The team met her on arrival, showed her to her suite where a wonderful gift basket was waiting for her.
They then showed her to her reserved dining table and she was HOME.

No longer nervous of climbing stair, waiting for food deliveries, washing, house care and responsibilities.

SHE WAS HOME AND SAFE!!!

Cate, Stevie and the team welcomed her with open arms, warmth and kindness. A weight of her mind and ours.

From day one she was a person, greeted with dignity and made to feel so so welcome.

We as her family are so grateful that the first few hours were not intimidating, frightening and alone. She as a resident is so so HAPPY and that is job done.

The manner in which she was welcomed has continued and escalated every day since she walked in two weeks ago.

It is everything we as her family and she as the recipient of care could have dreamed of

Thank you Cate, Stevie and all of the team

Mum has been at Chorleywood Manor in the Reminiscence community since the end of November 2025, and has settled in really well.
She is happy, has put on some much needed weight and it's such a relief knowing she is safely cared for.
All the team are amazing and nothing is ever a problem for them, you can see they all care about the residents.
The activities schedule is varied, with excellent singers etc coming in to entertain, the activities staff are dedicated and always look to be having as much fun as the residents.

I would have no hesitation recommending the home. Best thing we have done for Mum and now she is more local for me to visit I get to see her far more frequently than when she was in her own house a distance away.

My husband was at Elton house for a year and half and I have only very positive things to say about his time there.
He really enjoyed the many activities, from chair exercises to the music & entertainment.

All occasions were celebrated so thoughtfully, from Chinese New Year and all the Jewish festivals to Christmas, which made a difference.

In the last two weeks of his life, the nursing care he received was truly exceptional. Not every care home has nursing , and without it he would have had to go into hospital. Instead, he was able to pass away peacefully in a place familiar to him with care and kindness.

I am very grateful to all the staff for everything they did for him. Many thanks.

My mother is 96 years old. She has lived alone since my father died at 58. .. My mother has had two falls and her confidence went. on Monday I realised either I moved in with her or get her respite in the care home. . I walked into the home. I was greeted by Stevie and the most loveliest receptionist nurses and carers. I watched just for five minutes how much care and attention they were giving all the residents there.

After a wonderful meeting and a view of the care home I went to my mother and said you would get great respite Care here. Two days later she arrived. I watched the care, love and respect every person who worked there gave my mother the following morning when I went to visit her again she said I'm never leaving here. She has been there for three days and I have never seen her so happy and full of life. she can't wait to tell my brother and sister and I what a great day she's had. I met so many wonderful residence and already made many friends Thank you so much

The lady I've been helping look after has only just moved into Elstree View but right from the start all of the staff and colleagues have been extremely attentive helping her to settle in quickly and not be anxious or disorientated.
