Sunrise is always a very nice place to visit. The residents always have support and everyone is very kind. When I do my volunteer work every Sunday everyone is welcoming and complimentary. It is a very nice environment to play my violin in.
I enjoy and get a lot out of what I do here.

My father is resident at Sunrise and just entering his second year there. He needs extra help as he is a wheelchair user. There is no doubt he is very well looked after. His room and all the areas in Sunrise are kept to a high standard.
As a visitor, I am always greeted by the kind staff at the reception.
Overall, my father has a good quality of life here - he benefits from the company of others and enjoys time in the garden and the other activities available.

I'm very impressed with everything I have seen during many and regular visits. However, only having eaten here once, I found the food to be very disappointing and the lady I visit complains about it frequently. Occasionally a temporary chef visits for 1 or 2 weeks and the quality and choice appears to improve highly. It needs sorting!

I have visited my friend for the last two years every other week and have been very impressed with the atmosphere, friendliness and efficiency here. The coffee bar downstairs is lovely, as are the cakes, but she is very often unhappy about the meals, which sound as if there could be an improvement.

This is a lovely home. The facilities and rooms are very good and the staff, on the whole, are very good and very caring. The one thing that lets the home down is the food which is variable at best. The activities are also very good.

This place is expensive and we accept this. But, for this money we expect excellence. My father should never be waiting for his care needs or rushed on the toilet. He only gets fast attention when we arrive.
Entertainment often doesn't happen as advertised. No-one takes responsibility for anything.
Good surroundings. Good food.

When I make my afternoon visits to Sunrise to see my father, my main contact is with the concierge and I am always very impressed with the atmosphere of warmth and efficiency she reflects. In other respects my father's room is comfortable and the public rooms are clean and well furnished. The bistro, in particular, is an excellent facility for sociable relaxation.

This is a beautiful home from an outsiders point of view. Bringing in an outsider it's all beautiful but the food is awful and it's not seen by visitors. Apart from that, the home is very beautiful the care is generally very good. It's only money spent on care which could be increased which is lacking on most front. It's niggly things which spoil the home generally its great.

My aunt was made extremely welcome and found all the staff to be very helpful. As unwell, she didn't leave her room for a while but all the staff were in and out a lot chatting to her and checking on her. Her health has meant a stay in hospital, but she is looking forward to returning as soon as she can; a reassuring sign for all the family of how happy she is at Sunrise.

There is no doubt Sunrise saved my dad's life.
He arrived with little expectation of anything other than palliative care. A year later, he is thriving. Open visiting means he can see his friends and family at any time. The concierge also arranges for a cab for us to take him on home visits.
We have niggles from time to time over care facilities but nowhere is perfect.
It can be a struggle sometimes to get a straight answer, especially when asking who is responsible for something.

Generally, the staff are good and the care home is currently run well after some difficult times in the past.
The food is reasonable but should in my view be better, bearing in mind the high cost of residency. I have been a resident for many years and I have seen many changes in that time.

Overall I am very pleased with everything at Sunrise Chorleywood. However, I think the residents should have a greater say in the food they eat.
They pay a great deal of money to stay here and should be allowed to choose from a menu they like.
Not what someone else likes.

The staff and the positive, caring atmosphere are excellent. It helps a lot that there is continuity with the team at the home. It is reassuring for both the residents and their relatives.

Communication with the management could be better and there are times when there don't seem to be enough staff around.

Respite care - Following my father's sudden death abroad, my mother came to stay with me. After ten days she became unwell, with unstable diabetes. She also kept falling over.
I found it hard to look after her and took her to Sunrise.
She quickly improved much to my relief. She had wonderful care from the carers/staff and I have already been recommending you!
By way of improvement, I have to say the parking, especially in the day is horrendous and at times non-existent.
I have a disabled badge but people were parked on them without badges.
Also, you need to relook at the menus and devise a specific diabetic menu.
Choices were limited, however, top care.

Whilst we follow the Diabetes UK guidelines within menu planning and approaches to diabetes, broadly based on the Eatwell guide, we provide for preferences broadly but can always bespoke further for individuals if they wish. Sugar will continue to be a focus for us as we try to reduce it further in line with tastes and palates. Mummy came to Sunrise of Chorleywood for a months respite care. We organised it as a family to get her some VIP 24-hour care after she broke both her wrists. One due to a Parkinsons related fall at home, then the other on some slippery ice three weeks later. Both hands out of commission is a difficult situation even for anyone healthy to deal with, so we all needed a bit of help.

Sunrise were very fast at organising the interview and the room at short notice. Efficiency was just what we needed at that worrisome time. We were all made to feel very welcome and the room was clean and lovely. Mummy was near to home so daddy could easily visit at any time which made the whole experience much more tolerable. It was lovely for us as a family to know that mummy was being watched over for 24 hours a day and that daddy could have some much-needed rest too.

Overall we felt the experience was highly beneficial. The emergency was smoothed over and made as much fun as possible under the circumstances. Thank you.

I have observed all the staff looking after my aunt and every single member of staff treats every resident with care, kindness and compassion.
The residents are looked after as if they are an extended member of their family. Nothing is ever too much trouble and they do their job always with a smile on their faces.
They all do a wonderful job.

I have volunteered here for about 8 years and have observed many aspects of life in both parts of the community. In my view, the good atmosphere and smooth running owes it's excellence to the staff liking one another. They communicate on resident's well-being and needs even during shared lunch moments.

I have to say that I have not seen dad so settled or happy for ages.
We are most satisfied with the care, food, accommodation and the general ambience of the Chorleywood residence.
The staff are always cheerful, supportive and responsive to all our, and his, needs.
Any questions we have had about him or his care have been dealt with promptly and professionally.

My mother is very well looked after at Sunrise of Chorleywood. The staff are very approachable and always in good spirits which helps maintain a friendly environment. The only negative thing is the changing of staff. I would like less agency change as those staff can't possibly get to know the families. More staff (regular) would give the staff more quality time with residents, time to take them out in to the gardens or one-one time just talking. More staff- more quality time.

My father sadly passed away before he had been here for as long as he and my family would have wished. Caring, friendly staff (and residents!) made his short stay a very happy and safe one.

My father has severe aortic stenosis and has other problems. He has been at Sunrise for 6 years and throughout his time he has received outstanding care. The staff are kind and sensitive towards him. They preserve his dignity and have time for him. He is treated with respect. The care home is well-run and well managed. The manager has time for each individual and their family - can't praise them enough.

Having been in this role for over seven years now, I can honestly say I love my job.
