My mum has been in Fleet Hall for 5 months now. The staff are very kind to her and treat her with respect. It was not easy making the decision to put her in a home but seeing her get her dignity back has confirmed we made the right decision. Fleet Hall is very welcoming and homely which is important
for helping your loved one adjust to their new life.

Elton House Care Home - Avery Collection

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My Mum went in for respite care for 2 weeks as I was going on holiday and she worries when I am away and not available if she needs me. Although she was wary at first about going in, she absolutely loved it and thought all the staff were wonderful. Following her stay she has decided that she does
want to go in as a permanent resident as she just felt much more confident and supported in there than living at home on her own, so I will be looking to arrange that in the near future.
Reply from Jenny Bloomberg, Client Liason Manager at Elton House Care Home - Avery CollectionThank you so much for sharing your wonderful feedback. We're delighted to hear that your mum had a positive experience during her respite stay with us. It's lovely to know that our staff were able to provide her with the support and comfort she needed, allowing her to feel more confident and at ease.
We would be extremely delighted to welcome her as a permanent resident and will do everything we can to make this transition smooth and enjoyable for both of you. We look forward to seeing you all soon and having your mum as part of our community once again. Best wishes to you all.

Staff are always very friendly towards both my mother in law and her family when they visit. If only the care home had air-conditioning it would make such a difference to the comfort of all.
Food is plentiful if you choose to eat well and if its not to your liking the kitchen will always accommodate
special requests.
Reply from Karen Holmes, Home Manager at Cliveden Manor Care Home - Avery CollectionThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're delighted to hear that you and your mother-in-law's family always receive a warm welcome from our team. It's also wonderful to know that you've been pleased with the food and that our kitchen staff have been able to accommodate individual preferences whenever possible.
We appreciate your comments regarding air conditioning. We understand how much of a difference it can make during warmer weather, and your feedback is valuable as we continue to look for ways to enhance the comfort and wellbeing of everyone in our home.
Thank you again for your kind words and for your continued support.

Middleton Lodge Care Home - Avery Healthcare

from L B (Friend of Resident) published on 9 July 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
The staff were amazing! Caring, kind, welcoming and professional. My friend was looked after at Middleton Lodge as he had dementia and couldn't manage at home. The care he was given was excellent. Things in his room were labelled for easy access, activities put on to entertain, exercise the mind and
make friendships and his room was calm and peaceful for when he needed to rest. The ensuite, big double bed, drawer units, wardrobes and drinks whenever he wanted them, made it his home from home. Every time we visited we were greeted by staff by our names and given a warm welcome and refreshments. My friend was quite frail and confused at times but the staff provided excellent medical attention and adapted to his changing mobility. I am very grateful for all that the staff at Middleton Lodge did for my friend and the organisation and senior staff should be commended for making this care home a place of excellence.

My sister has been a resident at Birchmere for 18 months, living with Alzheimers Dementia. She increasingly became more vulnerable, but now she is in a safe, caring environment who are ultimately supportive and respectful with the whole team at Birchmere providing her with agreat quality of life. The
many varied activities provided each day, such as organised walks, quizzes, visiting entertainers, it's all about the individual. And of course the chef with the varied, quality menu. I have also been priveleged to sample.
Reply from Michelle Larder, Home Manager at Birchmere Mews Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for your lovely review and for sharing your experience.
We're so pleased to hear that your sister feels safe and well supported at Birchmere Mews. It means a lot to know that you've seen such a positive difference in her quality of life and that she's enjoying the activities on offer each day.
We're also delighted that you've enjoyed our chef's meals too! We'll be sure to share your kind comments with the whole team.

It became most evident to me that this care and support comes from deep within the hearts of the members of staff, and is driven by love. With respect to their work, I have
seen the best in people. I wish to express my profound gratitude to the carers, the nurses, the care supervisors, restaurant staff, receptionists, activities team, the cleaners, the laundry and maintenance teams, and the managers. It is through their strong commitment to the health, well-being and happiness of the residents that they provide a home from home for all of them.

To the incredible team at Butlers Mews,
We want to express our deepest gratitude for the loving care you provided to my mother, Marion, in her last days. Knowing she was safe, comfortable, and in such gentle hands gave us total peace of mind.
A very special thank you goes to Shirley, Tracey, Kodie,
Divya and Sam for going above and beyond to look after her so wonderfully.
We would particularly like to mention Kodie. She is only 18, but she showed a level of maturity, empathy, and respect while administering mouth care that was deeply comforting to see. She is an absolute credit to your team.
Thank you all for turning a painful journey into a peaceful one.
With warmest thanks,
Patsy and Patsy

Sonning Gardens Care Home - Avery Collection

On more than one occasion I had first-hand experience of unacceptably long response times for call buttons, and over the 3½ weeks Mum was there I learnt from several residents that overly-long response times were a regular problem. They certainly were for Mum.

The garden here is amazing. The rooms

are 5 star. The food is top quality, and some of the carers are lovely. But I do not believe there is a culture of care at Sonning Gardens: from both the General Manager and Deputy refusing to meet with me; to the Client Liaison Manager telling me (at best) half-truths; to what appears to be not enough carers to cover the needs of immobile residents. I would summarise the culture here as "it's our way or the highway", and suspect it starts at the very top.

Mum hated it here, but is fairly happy in her new care home. I'm writing as a warning to anyone who puts an immobile loved-one here. All that glitters is not gold.

Reply from Tracey Van Zyl, Client Liaison Manager at Sonning Gardens Care Home - Avery CollectionThank you for taking the time to leave your feedback.

We are pleased that you recognised the quality of our gardens, accommodation, food, and the commitment of our team members.

We are sorry to read that your overall perception of your mother's stay was not a positive one. We take all feedback seriously and continually review our services to ensure we provide the highest standards of care and support for our residents. We sincerely wish your mother every happiness and comfort in her new home."

My mum has been in Acer House for a year now and I am very happy with the care and support that she receives from Sam, Kirsty and their wonderful team. The food & drink is good and plentiful, clothing washed & returned in a timely manner, rooms have a high standard of cleanliness, assistance given with
personal care when desired and a range of activities providing mental and physical stimulation (not that mum participates in many of these). I am always warmly welcomed when I arrive at Acer House by their great reception team, and I have huge confidence in the medical team in their care for mum, who has dramatically improved health wise over the last year. I am comforted in knowing mum is being very well looked after at Acer House. I have no hesitation in recommending this Care Home.
Reply from Sam Ealden, Manager at Acer House Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for taking the time to review Acer House Care Home, mum has settled into the environment and has made significant improvements over the last few months in particular, the team are a credit to the home, every department working holistically to ensure positive outcomes for the residents and their families.

My 93 year old mother came to South lodge for respite following a hip replacement. Despite the initial reservation about going to SL she did settle after a few days. The place is delightful and all the staff so kind and professional. The management team are fantastic giving reassurance to mums family
as well as mum during her stay. The grounds are perfect for a respite setting. I would highly recommend South Lodge to anyone needing residential care
Reply from Donna M Bradley, Home Manager at South Lodge Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you so much Alison for taking the time to review the care we provided for your Mum during her recent stay. St.Giles care home is a really lovely place decorated beautifully. The level of Care is 2nd to none. The staff are amazing with the residence and families are like.
I've seen firsthand how the resident are included in normal day-to-day activities like Christmas birthday parties Easter and even football.
The Care team work extremely hard I have witnessed and are very kind and calming to the resident.

Really welcoming home. Staff always stop to say hello. Non-family members who visit always comment on this. Carers go the extra mile. We said we would never place mom (or dad) in a home but due to circumstances had to. Mom feels safe and secure in her room. Any little problems that may arise are always
dealt with. Always feel a little sorry for carers as they work so hard and as with all care home, more staff would be ideal but the carers always remain cheerful and couldn'y be more kind and caring.

Rowan Court Care Home - Avery Healthcare

My initial experience is first dampened, by the fact we are constantly unable to park on the home's car park. We counted the number of people/visitors in the 'visitors' log book who were currently booked-in, against car park spaces. This suggested that the staff were parked on this car park, which was
clearly "sign-posted" for visitors only? Considering we pay for the care, this is unacceptable practice. Electric plug socket was broken and on the floor for days. I had to change the extension lead myself, which was damaged because the bed was pushed into it? Dirty tissues under the bed. Wrong clothing items in the wardrobe. Improvements must be made!
