Saxon Manor Care Home - Avery Collection

Our experience at Saxon Manor over the past 7 months has been, sadly, shocking. There have been multiple failings of care and safeguarding, and concerns voiced have fallen on deaf ears, with little or no response. Mum has felt scared and unsafe. Individual staff are absolutely lovely, but management of aggressive residents (toward other residents, staff and visitors) has been awful. We have felt we have had no choice but to move Mum elsewhere. Also, what is the point in having a minibus if trips out aren't available to residents? In 7 months Mum hasn't been given a single trip by the home.

Like anyone placing a parent into care, this was an emotional first for our family. Mum, Jeannette, moved to Saxon Manor in July 2025, and nearly nine months on, the difference in her is incredible.

Before the move, and with her Alzheimer's, she had become very withdrawn-no longer socialising, anxious, lonely, and not eating or sleeping well. It was heartbreaking to witness. Reaching the point where she accepted support wasn't easy, but it was the right decision.

Now, we're seeing more of the "old" Jeannette again-happy, chatty, funny, and full of life. She's eating well, sleeping better, and no longer anxious or afraid. Knowing she is safe, cared for, and genuinely happy means everything to us.

All the staff at Saxon Manor are truly outstanding-kind, caring, and dedicated. You are not just carers, you are now my Mum's friends, and we are so grateful to every one of you!

My sister and I find Saxon Manor a wonderful home for our dear mum. The staff are all wonderful and very kind and very caring. The home is beautifully designed and the decoration is wonderful too! The food is quite nice! The reception lounge is lovely with a nice coffee machine for family visitors to use! It is very reassuring after visiting mum she is in safe hands and well cared for! I have have had not one Loved One, but two LO's residing in Saxon Manor, a decision that wasn't taken lightly. After a 4 week respite stay, my first LO decided to remain as a permanent resident as they felt safe, well cared for, complex medication was administered appropriately, and the food was so good. They remain feeling safe, well looked after and content having made their own decision to remain over 14 months on. 4 months on we moved a second LO from a care home that was substantially more expensive as we had concerns about the level of care and frequency to be able to visit due to distance. What a difference ALL the staff, including Joe, Charlie, Sophia & Megan had made to the transition, overall contentment and care of LO no. 2.. LO no. 2 settled well, felt safe and happy. Sadly, they were only at Saxon Manor for 3 months prior to their Alzheimer's progressing. Their end of life care was approached with compassion and with an urgency to make as comfortable as possible.

I honestly can't thank the team at Saxon Manor Care Home enough for the care they give my nan.

She has been living there since January 2024, and the change in her has been incredible. She has genuinely never been happier or healthier. As a family, placing a loved one into a care home is never an easy decision, but from the moment she moved in we knew she was somewhere special.

The care, kindness and respect the staff show every single day is outstanding. They don't just look after residents - they truly care about them as people. My nan is treated with so much warmth and dignity, and it means the world to us knowing she is safe, supported and happy.

In my own job I visit elderly people in their homes, and when the subject of care homes comes up I often find myself mentioning Saxon Manor because of the experience we've had. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

We couldn't ask for a better place for our nan to spend this stage of her life. She's absolutely living her best life there

My mum has been at Saxon Manor since 2024 and she has been very comfortable & well looked after. Staff are professional and compassionate to residents and they have been very supportive to us as a family and explaining things in regards to mums care. Staff have become our friends and we appreciate them.

The staff at Saxon Manor are amazing with my Mother in Law even with her quirky habits! I cannot praise them enough for all the love and care they take with her. Highly recommend to anyone thinking of a care home for a family member.

My 90-year-old mother has been a resident at this care home for over a year now, and I cannot express strongly enough how grateful our family is for the care she receives. From the moment she arrived, the staff have treated her with genuine kindness, patience, and understanding. She is very happy here and proud of her home.

The surroundings are excellent-clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully maintained, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere rather than just a place of care. The facilities are first class and clearly designed with residents' comfort, safety, and enjoyment in mind.

There is also a good range of activities that keep residents engaged and involved. There is a good choice of food available and always plenty to chose from.

What stands out most, however, is the staff. They are absolutely fantastic. I would recommend the home to anybody.

I couldn't wish for a better home for my Mum, who has been living at Saxon Manor for 2 years. All the staff from carers, kitchen, cleaners and hospitality go above and beyond with their care and love for the residents. My Mum loves living at "The Manor" and knowing my Mum is safe and cared for in this way has been life changing for our family!!!

We cannot compliment and thank the staff enough and while we understand that each of other residents have their own needs they along with dad are treated with immense dignity. THANKYOU x

The food, facilities and entertainment is incredible and I am very pleased we chose Saxon Manor for mum's care.

Mum has been at Saxon Manor since July 2024. She really is the happiest she has been for years despite having had a stroke and now being in a wheelchair. The staff are so friendly and caring and she has been lucky enough to get to know many of the same staff from the start so they have got to know her well. She has made good friends and enjoys the many activities they provide every day, particularly film club. Mum was so reluctant to go into a home but is now very happy. We are so grateful to all of the staff for looking after Mum and giving her new lease of life beyond what we ever thought she would be able to achieve after her stroke. Very happy with the home. Excellent staff, fantastic care and great atmosphere. Could not have wished for better for my mother. She is really enjoy being there with lots of attention, a great range of plenty of food and varied activities.

Mum was a resident for just over a year at Saxon Manor. As with many a new Care Home resident she really didn't want to go into care and railed against it to start with. However in no time at all she became very happy and wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else.

Mums needs, which were unusual, made her very demanding of the carers time but they always treated her with love, empathy for her situation and great respect. So much so that we as a family have all grown so fond of them they too will be missed by us.

I couldn't have asked for better care during Mums last days. The manager Stacey and all her staff were so wonderful to Mum she grew to have genuine love for them and it was very obvious to us that a great many of them felt the same for Mum.

Kindness and care is at the heart of Saxon Manor. Wonderful staff, beautiful and clean environment, a pleasure to visit a close relative. The care, comfort, and support is the highest level you can wish for.

My Mum had 3 respite opportunities before she decided that she needed more care than was available in her own home and Saxon Manor was definitely going to be the place. Having been able to visit her from New Zealand in her first weeks there, I am so delighted that with our encouragement, she chose Saxon Manor. Management runs a really tight ship, and the care staff do genuinely care about all of the residents. Everyone is encouraged to participate in activities but also plenty of opportunities for quiet time if that is what is wanted. What impressed me most, is nothing is a problem, and family members are looked after and get the answers that they want to any questions or concerns. Like many, I had a preconceived idea of what life would be like in a care home, but Saxon Manor goes way beyond my expectations. Well done team- My Mum is happier now and loves all of the activities and is a regular at the cinema. Knowing Mum is happy gives me incredible peace of mind.

I cannot praise the care he received enough. The staff who are the most important part of any care home are friendly, attentive and professional. I will use the facility again for respite and can readily recommend it to anyone looking for care for a loved one.
