My mum has been at Saxon Manor since 2024 and she has been very comfortable & well looked after. Staff are professional and compassionate to residents and they have been very supportive to us as a family and explaining things in regards to mums care. Staff have become our friends and we appreciate
them.

My 90-year-old mother has been a resident at this care home for over a year now, and I cannot express strongly enough how grateful our family is for the care she receives. From the moment she arrived, the staff have treated her with genuine kindness, patience, and understanding. She is very happy here
and proud of her home.

The surroundings are excellent-clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully maintained, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere rather than just a place of care. The facilities are first class and clearly designed with residents' comfort, safety, and enjoyment in mind.

There is also a good range of activities that keep residents engaged and involved. There is a good choice of food available and always plenty to chose from.

What stands out most, however, is the staff. They are absolutely fantastic. I would recommend the home to anybody.

I couldn't wish for a better home for my Mum, who has been living at Saxon Manor for 2 years. All the staff from carers, kitchen, cleaners and hospitality go above and beyond with their care and love for the residents. My Mum loves living at "The Manor" and knowing my Mum is safe and cared for in this
way has been life changing for our family!!!

My Dad, Michael now aged 85 arrived at Saxon manor on the 7th March 2025 and from that day his quality of care and life in general has changed for the better. My Dad was diagnosed with mixed dementia in 2023 and had lived independently up until Christmas 2024 when the decision was made that he needed
24 hour residential care. Dad loves being here and is loved equally by the carers who attend to his needs on a daily basis. As family we can visit at any time of the day or night. Christmas last year being dad's first one at Saxon manor was superb with xmas lunch and presents being provided. The previous month he celebrated his 85th Birthday and was presented with a beautiful cake. we were able to spend both his birthday and Christmas day with him, something we had not been able to do for many years.
We cannot compliment and thank the staff enough and while we understand that each of other residents have their own needs they along with dad are treated with immense dignity. THANKYOU x

her feel like she is with staff who genuinely care about her health and well being.
The food, facilities and entertainment is incredible and I am very pleased we chose Saxon Manor for mum's care.

Mum has been at Saxon Manor since July 2024. She really is the happiest she has been for years despite having had a stroke and now being in a wheelchair. The staff are so friendly and caring and she has been lucky enough to get to know many of the same staff from the start so they have got to know
her well. She has made good friends and enjoys the many activities they provide every day, particularly film club. Mum was so reluctant to go into a home but is now very happy. We are so grateful to all of the staff for looking after Mum and giving her new lease of life beyond what we ever thought she would be able to achieve after her stroke. Thank you to everyone at Saxon Manor

Mum was a resident for just over a year at Saxon Manor. As with many a new Care Home resident she really didn't want to go into care and railed against it to start with. However in no time at all she became very happy and wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else.

Mums needs, which were unusual, made

her very demanding of the carers time but they always treated her with love, empathy for her situation and great respect. So much so that we as a family have all grown so fond of them they too will be missed by us.

I couldn't have asked for better care during Mums last days. The manager Stacey and all her staff were so wonderful to Mum she grew to have genuine love for them and it was very obvious to us that a great many of them felt the same for Mum.

So, from our family to the Saxon Manor family, a massive thank you!
Lots of love from us!

This is indeed a fine home. From the moment I enquired about respite for my husband whilst I took an break visiting our son and family in USA, nothing was too much trouble .The reception staff were able to show me around when I turned up unannounced (always a good sign!). The admin was clear and made
easy to navigate (I had MANY questions), and without exception ALL staff gave a friendly greeting!
My husband was very well cared for whilst I was away, as was reported to me by visitors.
When I returned to collect him he was clean and tidy and said he had enjoyed his stay and in particular the food! Staff were able to give me an update as to how he had been. I will have no hesitation in recommending this home and hope to use their services again.
Many thanks to you all.

My Mum had 3 respite opportunities before she decided that she needed more care than was available in her own home and Saxon Manor was definitely going to be the place. Having been able to visit her from New Zealand in her first weeks there, I am so delighted that with our encouragement, she chose Saxon
Manor. Management runs a really tight ship, and the care staff do genuinely care about all of the residents. Everyone is encouraged to participate in activities but also plenty of opportunities for quiet time if that is what is wanted. What impressed me most, is nothing is a problem, and family members are looked after and get the answers that they want to any questions or concerns. Like many, I had a preconceived idea of what life would be like in a care home, but Saxon Manor goes way beyond my expectations. Well done team- My Mum is happier now and loves all of the activities and is a regular at the cinema. Knowing Mum is happy gives me incredible peace of mind.

My husband, who has dementia, spent two weeks at Saxon Manor Care Home while I had a break with our grandchildren, who he finds rather boisterous.
I cannot praise the care he received enough. The staff who are the most important part of any care home are friendly, attentive and professional. I will
use the facility again for respite and can readily recommend it to anyone looking for care for a loved one.

Mum spent the last 4 months of her life under the care of Saxon Manor Care Home. The home is beautifully decorated & spotlessly clean with the air of a 4-5 * hotel. I visited most days in lovely surroundings with a calm &a peaceful atmosphere. The gardens are well maintained offering a pleasant & tranquil
area for visits (or even a Birthday party!). The family were always made to feel welcome any time we wanted to visit. All staff were kind, patient and caring and truly seemed concerned for Mum's well-being. The home was supportive and accommodating with family wishes regarding medical care. Overall we are pleased to have chosen Saxon Manor to support Mum and family through what is always a difficult time. The home certainly has the feel of staff & residents being one big family, I am pleased to have chosen Saxon Manor and would happily recommend it.

I first became aware of Saxon Manor in 2023 during their open day. Although then not fully completed I was extremely impressed by everything that I saw there. At the time my brother had suffered several falls and hospitalisations and I doubted that he would be able to lead an independent life. He recovered
for a while until the point where he required residential care. When this was agreed by social services, I looked at some care homes which I thought were not suitable for my brother. Then thank goodness I went back to Saxon Manor, I thought it would be unaffordable but not so. I was warmly greeted and shown around all the facilities which were even better than my first viewing. The layout and decor are very special. The staff are so friendly, efficient and obliging. With organised activities, a lovely garden, lounge area, library and cinema for residents to use. The food is excellent, the menu changes daily and is seasonally cooked by an on-site chef in a very well-fitted kitchen. My brother has settled in very quickly and is very happy. He and I would thoroughly recommend Saxon Manor as excellent in every respect.

I asked for the return of fees as my wife's contract was terminated by Saxon Manor due to not being able to supply ongoing care as required by the hospital. No return of fees was received and my phone and emails were blocked by both Saxon Manor and Avery (the owners). I was forced to take court action
which resulted in the partial return of fees. I still could not contact Avery so I wrote to the CEO of Avery. All the remaining part of my claim was paid!
They are not a good or even reasonable company to deal with. My advice is to use a company that honours what they pledge and puts the residents' interest ahead of their own!

After having a hip replacement in the hospital, I came to Saxon Manor for respite care. I immediately felt at home there and was most impressed by the high standard of the decor, room size and facilities. Although I have a small appetite, the quality of the meals tempted me to try most things. The staff
were absolute sweethearts, responding to the call button quickly and with utmost care. I would certainly come there should it be necessary in future.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.861) out of 10 for Saxon Manor Care Home - Avery Collection is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.861 for Saxon Manor Care Home - Avery Collection is calculated as follows: ( (238 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 259 Ratings = 4.861
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Saxon Manor Care Home - Avery Collection is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

When Gemma is not being our Home Manager here at Saxon Manor she loves trips to the coast with her family and two dogs, especially wells-next-the-sea which is her favourite. However, you will often find her curled up on the sofa with a good book and most importantly a cup of tea!
