If i could choose anywhere for my grandma to have been it would have been here. The home itself is beautifully furnished, clean and welcoming. The activities planned are varied, relevant and fun.
Most of all the staff are kind, caring and compassionate. From the moment my gran arrived everyone was
expecting her, they knew her name and made her feel welcome and safe. On every single visit it was evident she was being cared for to the highest standard and the staff couldn't do enough for everyone. For me, it was those snippets of interactions between staff and residents you would overhear-calm, respectful and genuinely caring. You leave your visit confident that your loved one is in the best place they could be.

Derby heights looked after my gran with care, patience and respect. The staff were caring and nurturing to both residents and family members which made the decision to choose a care home much easier and comforting.
The home was clean and warm with a lovely home from home feeling which allowed us to
feel happy that our family member was safe and well looked after her during her time there.
Thank you to the staff who made time to ensure my gran was cared for with dignity and compassion.

I am so pleased with the way my aunt is cared for. All the staff seem very caring and friendly and polite which is also important. In the few weeks since my aunt has been at Derby Heights she looks more healthy than she has in months and seems less fragile. I am so pleased.

I has been lovely to see her taking part and making friends and enjoying herself. I will pass your kind comments onto the team.

My mother was cared for a couple of weeks after a hospital stay. She was at end of life and the staff were the most compassionate of people and I cannot fault them . They also cared about us as a family and followed our wishes .
I highly recommend the home and I am very thankful to them.

Following a fall, my previously independent mum needed some care. We were supported every step of the way at a very emotinally challening time. Mum has settled unbelievably well, and is steadily getting better. The care and kindness has gone above and beyond our expectations.

My friend has recently moved from a different care home, and the contrast is stark. So far, in two months, Derby Heights appears to be everything the other wasn't. She is still traumatised from the previous two years. The staff understand this and work to reassure her, she loves everything about the
home - Especially the food, and I no longer have to visit her in tears.
So far, without exception, every member of staff has been friendly warm and helpful. (I visit at least three times a week).
Reply from Laura Wood, Customer Service Manager at Derby Heights Care Home - Avery HealthcareWe are delighted to receive this review. It is so nice to hear that we have made a tangible difference in her life and that you can see a positive change in her. We will continue to support and care for her to ease her previous experience. We are happy to have helped, and we value your visits to us. Thank you for your kind words.

My Mum has spent 6 months at Derby Heights who have looked after her so well. They have respected her, given her dignity. All of the staff are so friendly, nothing is to much for them. Mum was very happy here. Always coffee and cake available! The food was very good and a good selection. Hair dresser
visiting each week. lots of activities should the residents want to join in.

My mum came for a two-week stay to see if he would like to become a permanent resident. She received a warm welcome from all staff. The staff were very friendly and caring whenever we visited. My mum reported that she could find no fault at all: lovely staff, nothing was too much trouble, very clean
home, delicious food with lots of choice. The only slight negative comment was reading the activities: they were often geared up (understandably) for residents who were much less mentally and physically able than my mum.
Reply from Laura Wood, Customer Service Manager at Derby Heights Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for taking the time to send a review in, it is very helpful to the staff and prospective residents. It was a pleasure to have mum stay with us and to meet the wider family during her stay. With regards to activities we have a range of different things that appeal to all 74 residents with mixed abilities, I know mum enjoyed the weekly quiz, poetry group and some of the talks that we had. Thank you again for your feedback it is very much appreciated.

Mum became very unwell and unsafe to be at home alone so we made a family decision to get her into some emergency respite while we sorted a more permanent solution. She had stayed at Derby Heights for respite a couple of year ago and because we were so impressed they were are first place to contact.
From the moment I made the initial call Derby Heights team were so helpful and reassuring at such a difficult time for us. They found mum a room at very short notice. The care home is absolutely fantastic and has more the feel of a luxury hotel. Mum is in for 4 weeks and has recovered so much better with all the excellent support from all the team members, the excellent food and the overall great atmosphere as soon as you walk in. As a family since mum has been in respite we have felt so relaxed as she is very safe and well cared for, which gives us time to breathe ourselves. If mum does need to move into a permanent are home in the future Derby Heights will be our first call. A great team.

My father has been in the care home for about 6 months. He has settled in well and he seems very contented in the home. The staff seem to be very supportive and my father seems to respond well to them. We as a family have no concerns and feel that he is being well looked after.

Mum had a wonderful time at Derby Heights during her recent respite stay. She has never stopped talking about the events held during her stay and the lovely people she met. Her only complaint was the noise, being used to living alone mum found the TV in the adjacent room to be intrusive. The garden
room was superb with clean fresh surfaces and fittings in good order. Mum wouldn't hesitate to stay at Derby Heights again if the opportunity arose.

I visit at least twice a week. Very friendly staff. The rooms are lovely and usually clean. My family member who is a resident is not always a fan of the menu but does say it's improving. She is well cared for and the staff have all been lovely and engaged with her.
Reply from Laura Wood, Customer Service Manager at Derby Heights Care Home - Avery HealthcareWe are so grateful for your feedback it is very helpful to all the staff in order to enhance the experience for our residents. We have implemented a Food Group Meeting with residents and the Head Chef to discuss menus and preferences, this is open to all residents. We were very impressed with the level of care mum and dad received at Derby Heights. All the staff were very approachable and the care team did an excellent job with mum's complicated needs. The care ran through the whole building whether it be maintenance, housekeeping, laundry and they always had
time to pop into mum's room and show a genuine interest. As a family, we were able to relax knowing they were well cared for and had friendships with other residents. Whether it be grandchildren or great-grandchildren visiting we were all made to feel so welcome.
Reply from Laura Wood, Customer Service Manager at Derby Heights Care Home - Avery HealthcareWe were privileged to care for both parents at different times and most latterly mum. Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.766) out of 10 for Derby Heights Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 28 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.766 for Derby Heights Care Home - Avery Healthcare is calculated as follows: ( (264 Excellents x 5) + (62 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 334 Ratings = 4.766
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Derby Heights Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 75 registered maximum number of service users is 15, which has been reached with 28 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
