My mum has enjoyed her second week of respite care and is much more relaxed and rested since her stay. She is very complimentary about all the staff. I have found all staff friendly and helpful when speaking to them by telephone and in person. I feel that I have listened too and all my questions are
answered.

First visit to care home at Derby Heights. Very impressed with quality of build, quality of room, furnishing and general layout of premises.

My uncle is receiving respite care following hospitalisation from a fall at home.


I had visited Derby Heights when considering a range of care homes for a close family member. Derby Heights was above and beyond all home visited and knew he (my uncle) would have his needs met. When I visit him, sitting

in the piano lounge, it's like a lovely hotel. All staff at all levels are incredibly helpful, polite and professional. Cannot praise this home enough.

Overall experience is very good.


Communication between staff and visitors is good.


There were a few issues at the beginning of Mum's stay but I have been assured they will be addressed.


Happy to be allowed to bring the dog as all residents enjoy fussing over her!

My father has been at Derby Heights Care Home since the beginning of this year and he is very happy there. I too am very satisfied with the level of care provided for him. The home has a pleasant, friendly ambience and the bedrooms and communal areas are spacious and attractively decorated and furnished.
The food is of a high standard and plenty of entertainment is provided for the residents.


I have found all members of staff I have met to be pleasant, friendly and efficient and my father speaks very highly of them, which is reassuring for me as I live some distance away. I Definitely feel I made the best choice of home for Dad.

A very pleasant experience. Mum loves going into Derby Heights for respite care. The staff are lovely and all the residents seem very happy. We have had issues in the post with missing laundry but this now seems to be resolved.

I was invited by my friend who is enjoying two weeks of respite care with his wife. I found the home to be extremely welcoming and friendly. It is a superb building and one feels as if the visit is to a luxury hotel. The whole place exudes peace and quiet and a definite feeling of safety and genuine
care. The invitation was for lunch and I was so impressed. We had a separate dining room for our little group, immaculately furnished and laid out. The carers are so friendly and caring.

After a recommendation and a short visit decided to stay for a weeks trial after a short settling in period, joined in with some of the many activities offered. Staff were very helpful and manager was quick to deal with any queries. Meals were very good and although I am a plain eater managed to find
meals without much garnish. Bedroom was beautifully furnished and bed was very comfortable, a lot of light in the room which I appreciated. There was a follow up a few days after going home and a promise to keep in touch. In all trial was successful and as and when my need arises I will be in contact with them again.

Very high-quality environment, spotlessly clean and high-quality furnishings. My father stayed for 10 days for respite care. He'd been dreading it as it was his first experience of a care home. Staff were reassuring, friendly and efficient from initial assessment visit to arrival and throughout the
stay which made him settle and be content. Complete peace of mind for me. Dad enjoyed the majority of the food.

From the moment I walked through the doors of Derby Heights, I was blown away by how beautiful this home is. I was shown all of the rooms available together with the facilities. All rooms are light, airy and beautifully decorated with colour coordinating furnishings.


Staff members were introduced

as we toured the home and everyone was polite and very welcoming. I can honestly say that I no longer have any worries knowing that my step-dad is receiving wonderful care here and that worry that we all may have when we may need care ourselves has been taken away, I've put my request in already!

After a lot of falls culminating in a broken shoulder and after trying 24/7 live-in home care the family felt it was no longer safe or practical for mum to live at home. We looked at a wide range of local care homes and were immediately impressed with the beautiful new facilities of Derby Heights. Mum
was very reluctant to take this step and resistant to settling ar first. The staff were kind and did everything possible to look after her. Fifteen months on she is much more content and finally settled. Any issues are dealt with well and we continue to be very pleased.

I came to Derby Heights Care Home direct from hospital in Nottingham after a major operation. The home provided a very welcoming, reassuring and safe environment to enable me to continue my recovery. The staff, facilities, food and drink and care staff have all been excellent and it's such a high-quality
environment. I will leave here with very good memories of the experience and would be happy to come back.

My husband has been a resident at Derby Heights for a year and we both remain totally satisfied and entirely convinced that this home was the very best choice available to us in the sad circumstances of his need for 24hour care. The home itself is second to none in its design, decor and facilities.
I visit every day and always look forward to the welcome I receive and the atmosphere created in all areas of the home. More importantly, however, is the compassionate and expert care provided to my husband by all the staff. The expertise of the management, the professionalism and genuine kindness of the care staff and the high level of competence and commitment of staff in the other support areas all contribute to making this home outstanding and in my experience incomparably better than any others in the area. In making our choice originally, I viewed at least twelve other homes and none compared to Derby Heights. It was simply the best available and has remained so over this first year.

She lives with her husband in South Yorkshire, and enjoys spending time with her family.

As she felt ready for a fresh challenge, February 2024 heralds a major change for Jo as she has taken on the Head Housekeeper role. With all of Jo's care experience, she is a valuable asset and has lots of drive and enthusiasm to achieve the highest standards for our residents. Jo is local to Derby and enjoys spending time with her family, going to the cinema and socialising.

Janet Greaves

Job Title: Head Chef

Joined: 2022

Janet brings a wealth of experience to Derby Heights on the culinary front and has had an illustrious career since leaving catering college. She has worked in a number of high-profile hotels and restaurants including a 5* restaurant and bistro in Cornwall for ten years. Covid heralded a change for Janet when hotels and restaurants were closed, she sought an alternate route and found herself working in the kitchens of care establishments.


Janet joined our team in 2022 and now focuses on tasty and nutritious meals for our residents. She has a seven-year-old boxer cross dog that keeps her busy outside of work and she also rides a Harley Davidson in her spare time.

Job Title: Administrator

Joined: 2023

Lena joined Derby Heights in 2023 as a Customer Service Associate and whilst she really enjoyed the front-of-house role, when an opportunity arose for an Administrator she jumped at the chance. Lena is originally from the USA but has settled in Derby with her husband & cat, and she is getting to know the area and soaking up the Derbyshire culture and accent.

Sarah joined us as one of our receptionists originally, and got to know our residents and relatives very well. Since finishing her degree course in Events Management she has transitioned to the role of Well-Being Coordinator. Job Title: Maintenance Operative

Joined: 2025

Nigel has 24 years experience of working in the care industry, where his first position was in the kitchen. He then took up a maintenance position and never looked back. As a previous motor technician, he is used to fixing things and tinkering, so joining Derby Heights is a home from home. Nigel lives in Staffordshire with his wife and has four children and ten grandchildren.
