Overall Experience

My mother has been a resident for 10 months, having previously been independent living a managed block of flats. She was attended 3 times a day by home carers but was quite isolated through her mobility and her very short-term memory. Since transferring t Derby Heights she has found the various activities and people contact very beneficial. I have been delighted with all aspects of her new home.

I have lived here since April 2018 and feel so lucky to be cared for by very kind, caring, patient staff. The meals are excellent, nicely served and plenty of variety to choose from. The place is kept spotlessly clean by very kind cleaning staff. My private room is perfect for my needs, looking out onto a very well kept garden and my own bathroom has all I need.

I went to Derby heights to convalesce after having a hip operation. I was very well cared for. The staff were brilliant and fully attended to my needs.
The quality of the food was excellent which helped my recovery. I had a very pleasant room, well equipped and comfortable.

I also like the atrium and the fact that when people came to visit me, there were many varied pleasant areas to sit - patio, lounges, atrium. What an enjoyable stay. Thank you.

Outstanding place, with good care.
Lovely environment, clean and well managed, my relative is very well looked after with compassionate staff. It feels at times that there could be more staff as it is a challenge to manage the needs of everyone, but I do not think care is compromised as a result of this.
Activities are in place but again perhaps a more individually tailored need could be done, this is not a critic just a comment.

I would not wish my relative to be anywhere else. They are looked after with dignity and kindness and all needs are met fully.

Overall Experience

We selected Derby Heights because of its location, facilities, quality of care and perhaps above all, the perception one has that it's a hotel rather than a typical care/nursing home. On all of these points, we haven't been disappointed. The staff have been excellent and without exception, very professional and accommodating at all times and we have been very pleased with the overall care. Yes, it is expensive compared with other care homes, but not if compared with full board at an equivalent hotel. I can offer no better testimonial than to say that if such a need fell upon me, then I would be happy to be a resident there.

My mum has enjoyed her second week of respite care and is much more relaxed and rested since her stay. She is very complimentary about all the staff. I have found all staff friendly and helpful when speaking to them by telephone and in person. I feel that I have listened too and all my questions are answered.

First visit to care home at Derby Heights. Very impressed with quality of build, quality of room, furnishing and general layout of premises.

Particularly impressed with all staff; appearance, cheerfulness, politeness, patience and obvious consideration for residents. Could not be faulted.

My uncle is receiving respite care following hospitalisation from a fall at home.

I had visited Derby Heights when considering a range of care homes for a close family member. Derby Heights was above and beyond all home visited and knew he (my uncle) would have his needs met. When I visit him, sitting in the piano lounge, it's like a lovely hotel. All staff at all levels are incredibly helpful, polite and professional. Cannot praise this home enough.

Overall experience is very good.

Communication between staff and visitors is good.

There were a few issues at the beginning of Mum's stay but I have been assured they will be addressed.

Happy to be allowed to bring the dog as all residents enjoy fussing over her!

My father has been at Derby Heights Care Home since the beginning of this year and he is very happy there. I too am very satisfied with the level of care provided for him. The home has a pleasant, friendly ambience and the bedrooms and communal areas are spacious and attractively decorated and furnished. The food is of a high standard and plenty of entertainment is provided for the residents.

I have found all members of staff I have met to be pleasant, friendly and efficient and my father speaks very highly of them, which is reassuring for me as I live some distance away. I Definitely feel I made the best choice of home for Dad.

I was invited by my friend who is enjoying two weeks of respite care with his wife. I found the home to be extremely welcoming and friendly. It is a superb building and one feels as if the visit is to a luxury hotel. The whole place exudes peace and quiet and a definite feeling of safety and genuine care. The invitation was for lunch and I was so impressed. We had a separate dining room for our little group, immaculately furnished and laid out. The carers are so friendly and caring.

After a recommendation and a short visit decided to stay for a weeks trial after a short settling in period, joined in with some of the many activities offered. Staff were very helpful and manager was quick to deal with any queries. Meals were very good and although I am a plain eater managed to find meals without much garnish. Bedroom was beautifully furnished and bed was very comfortable, a lot of light in the room which I appreciated. There was a follow up a few days after going home and a promise to keep in touch. In all trial was successful and as and when my need arises I will be in contact with them again.
