From the moment I walked through the doors of Derby Heights, I was blown away by how beautiful this home is. I was shown all of the rooms available together with the facilities. All rooms are light, airy and beautifully decorated with colour coordinating furnishings.

Staff members were introduced

as we toured the home and everyone was polite and very welcoming. I can honestly say that I no longer have any worries knowing that my step-dad is receiving wonderful care here and that worry that we all may have when we may need care ourselves has been taken away, I've put my request in already!

We called into the home in October for a brochure, we fell in love with Derby Heights straight away. We moved in during November for two weeks to see if we liked it and have never looked back.

After a lot of falls culminating in a broken shoulder and after trying 24/7 live-in home care the family felt it was no longer safe or practical for mum to live at home. We looked at a wide range of local care homes and were immediately impressed with the beautiful new facilities of Derby Heights. Mum
was very reluctant to take this step and resistant to settling ar first. The staff were kind and did everything possible to look after her. Fifteen months on she is much more content and finally settled. Any issues are dealt with well and we continue to be very pleased.

I came to Derby Heights Care Home direct from hospital in Nottingham after a major operation. The home provided a very welcoming, reassuring and safe environment to enable me to continue my recovery. The staff, facilities, food and drink and care staff have all been excellent and it's such a high-quality
environment. I will leave here with very good memories of the experience and would be happy to come back.

My husband has been a resident at Derby Heights for a year and we both remain totally satisfied and entirely convinced that this home was the very best choice available to us in the sad circumstances of his need for 24hour care. The home itself is second to none in its design, decor and facilities.
I visit every day and always look forward to the welcome I receive and the atmosphere created in all areas of the home. More importantly, however, is the compassionate and expert care provided to my husband by all the staff. The expertise of the management, the professionalism and genuine kindness of the care staff and the high level of competence and commitment of staff in the other support areas all contribute to making this home outstanding and in my experience incomparably better than any others in the area. In making our choice originally, I viewed at least twelve other homes and none compared to Derby Heights. It was simply the best available and has remained so over this first year.

I have come to Derby Heights for 2 weeks following open heart surgery. I am most impressed with the care and attention I am being given and cannot fault anything. The staff are all very helpful and obliging. They are prepared to do anything to help me when I need it. My room is perfect and all the facilities
are first class. This is a very personal comment - I find it very strange to have to eat my last meal at 5:00pm. To me, this is very early.

In September 2016, we faced the difficult decision of finding a suitable home for our 83-year-old Mum who was finding it difficult to continue living independently due to increasing immobility and the steady progression of dementia. After visiting numerous care homes it became clear that Derby Heights
offers a step up in both facilities and standard of care.
As a recently opened and new property, the standard of comfort and facilities are excellent, the management and team are enthusiastic and have clearly set about ensuring their residents receive a level of care and attention that we would all hope to find if or when we need it. There is also an active relatives/management association which provides an excellent forum for dialogue between families and those looking after their loved ones. As a family, we sleep more comfortably knowing that Mum is safely in good hands at Derby Heights, and in an environment that is also a pleasure for us as visitors to relax within.

My 88-year-old father stayed at Derby Heights for 4 weeks in respite care whilst my husband and I were abroad on holiday. The warmth and care from the staff was outstanding. He had a minor holiday himself! He joined in the many activities provided- the choir, days out etc. He particularly enjoyed the
Abba tribute band that came in to entertain the residents. Derby Heights is like a luxury hotel with beautiful facilities. I would highly recommend it. It gave us peace of mind that my father was being well looked after.

Like a hotel - well looked after. Carers work hard but need more of them. Queries and complaints are dealt with quickly and my visitors are made to feel welcome. My husband died since I've been here (10 days) and the staff were caring and sympathetic.

Derby Heights is a superbly appointed, brand new residential home which is setting a new standard for care of the elderly and dementia patients. All residents have spacious, immaculate bedrooms with en-suite facilities. There are many attractive communal/lounges and dining areas in addition to private
dining rooms and a cinema room. The grounds are attractively landscaped. There is a well organised programme of activities, ranging from professional singers to gardening. The staff are exceptionally caring and helpful. The individual care needs of each residents are effectively addressed and as carers and residents and their family get to know each other the home will go from strength to strength.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.766) out of 10 for Derby Heights Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 28 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.766 for Derby Heights Care Home - Avery Healthcare is calculated as follows: ( (264 Excellents x 5) + (62 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 334 Ratings = 4.766
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Derby Heights Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 75 registered maximum number of service users is 15, which has been reached with 28 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
