I have come to Derby Heights for 2 weeks following open heart surgery. I am most impressed with the care and attention I am being given and cannot fault anything. The staff are all very helpful and obliging. They are prepared to do anything to help me when I need it. My room is perfect and all the facilities
are first class. This is a very personal comment - I find it very strange to have to eat my last meal at 5:00pm. To me, this is very early.

In September 2016, we faced the difficult decision of finding a suitable home for our 83-year-old Mum who was finding it difficult to continue living independently due to increasing immobility and the steady progression of dementia. After visiting numerous care homes it became clear that Derby Heights
offers a step up in both facilities and standard of care.
As a recently opened and new property, the standard of comfort and facilities are excellent, the management and team are enthusiastic and have clearly set about ensuring their residents receive a level of care and attention that we would all hope to find if or when we need it. There is also an active relatives/management association which provides an excellent forum for dialogue between families and those looking after their loved ones. As a family, we sleep more comfortably knowing that Mum is safely in good hands at Derby Heights, and in an environment that is also a pleasure for us as visitors to relax within.

Visited Derby Heights Care Home and from the minute I stepped in reception, I felt the WOW factor. Lovely home, friendly staff and the residents appeared very happy. The gardens are very well kept. The residents are taken on trips out and also there are many activities going on in the home. Would recommend

What a fantastic care home from the moment you walk in, the reception staff are fantastic and really go out of their way to help. The care is brilliant, would highly recommend it. It's really is like a 5* hotel.

My 88-year-old father stayed at Derby Heights for 4 weeks in respite care whilst my husband and I were abroad on holiday. The warmth and care from the staff was outstanding. He had a minor holiday himself! He joined in the many activities provided- the choir, days out etc. He particularly enjoyed the
Abba tribute band that came in to entertain the residents. Derby Heights is like a luxury hotel with beautiful facilities. I would highly recommend it. It gave us peace of mind that my father was being well looked after.

I visited my sister-in-law whilst she was being cared for at Derby Heights Care Home. He has dementia and a fractured wrist during her stay she was well cared for stimulated will lots of activities and looked better than she has in years.
Her surroundings and staff are excellent. It's like a Five Star
Hotel.

Like a hotel - well looked after. Carers work hard but need more of them. Queries and complaints are dealt with quickly and my visitors are made to feel welcome. My husband died since I've been here (10 days) and the staff were caring and sympathetic.

Derby Heights is a superbly appointed, brand new residential home which is setting a new standard for care of the elderly and dementia patients. All residents have spacious, immaculate bedrooms with en-suite facilities. There are many attractive communal/lounges and dining areas in addition to private
dining rooms and a cinema room. The grounds are attractively landscaped. There is a well organised programme of activities, ranging from professional singers to gardening. The staff are exceptionally caring and helpful. The individual care needs of each residents are effectively addressed and as carers and residents and their family get to know each other the home will go from strength to strength.

When we first saw Derby Heights we were amazed that it didn't cost substantially more than other homes as its appearance and facilities surpassed any others we had seen. During the 7 months my dad lived at Derby Heights the staff were always exceptionally friendly, welcoming and supportive to my both
my dad and all the family. They gave exceptional care to my dad in the final weeks of his life, adapting to his changing dietary and physical needs, but they were equally supportive to myself and other family members during those difficult times.


Their level of care was highlighted by their support following his passing and the attendance of several members of staff at his funeral. The staff treated my father with love and respect and it always felt more like visiting him at his home than in a care home; we all felt part of the family there. We were always offered food, refreshments and were welcome to sit in the comfortable lounge with the residents and join in with activities if we wanted to.

I enjoyed my eight days stay at Derby Heights Care Home very much indeed, it would have been good to stay longer. Just one comment- we felt that there was rather a lack of serving staff at breakfast, putting pressure on those who were on duty but they did their best and we were happy to be patient.
Also, I enjoy traditionally cooked food and I found a little too much sauce/oil however just my taste! I also need gluten-free food and I was very well catered for in that way. I should be very happy to stay at Derby Heights Care Home again in the future. Thank you!

Having read many disgusting stories concerning care homes, I said a definite NO!! when my daughter and son-in-law said they had booked a holiday and would I mind staying in Derby Heights. They had already viewed and taken me to see if I would be happy. I relented immediately and enjoyed my stay.
My
first impression apart from the magnificent interior of the building was the attention from all the staff. They obviously enjoy their work and are a credit to the company. No if's or but's, just certainty. They will bring whatever you require to your room.
No disgusting stories from Derby Heights!
I am looking forward to my stay in August.

Overall standard very good. Staff very helpful but they could do with more help especially at night. I have been unable to use some of the facilities so cannot comment. Food very poor. Lukewarm, and cold plates. Meals would be better served directly from the kitchen instead of from serving trolley which
does not keep food hot. If the menu was better the likelihood of recommending Derby Heights would be a great deal higher.

Derby Heights is a beautiful place, that could easily be mistaken for a 5-star hotel on first viewing. The communal areas and bedrooms are kept spotlessly clean. The facilities for the residents are first class for their care needs (like the assisted bathrooms) and for the leisure activities (like the
on-site cinema). The rooms are very spacious and all seem to have nice views. The staff, are very friendly and welcoming, they try their best to provide individualised care to each of the residents, all the time, which is greatly appreciated as 'one size does not fit all' when dealing with people and their needs.

She lives with her husband in South Yorkshire, and enjoys spending time with her family.

Her family have a history of working in the care sector and Jo certainly brings the family feel to the home. As she felt ready for a fresh challenge, February 2024 heralds a major change for Jo as she has taken on the Head Housekeeper role. With all of Jo's care experience, she is a valuable asset and has lots of drive and enthusiasm to achieve the highest standards for our residents. Jo is local to Derby and enjoys spending time with her family, going to the cinema and socialising.

Janet Greaves

Job Title: Head Chef Joined: 2022

Janet brings a wealth of experience to Derby Heights on the culinary front and has had an illustrious career since leaving catering college. She has worked in a number of high-profile hotels and restaurants including a 5* restaurant and bistro in Cornwall for ten years. Covid heralded a change for Janet when hotels and restaurants were closed, she sought an alternate route and found herself working in the kitchens of care establishments.


Janet joined our team in 2022 and now focuses on tasty and nutritious meals for our residents. She has a seven-year-old boxer cross dog that keeps her busy outside of work and she also rides a Harley Davidson in her spare time.

Lena Patrick

Lena joined Derby Heights in 2023 as a Customer Service Associate and whilst she really enjoyed the front-of-house role, when an opportunity arose for an Administrator she jumped at the chance. Lena is originally from the USA but has settled in Derby with her husband & cat, and she is getting to know the area and soaking up the Derbyshire culture and accent.

Sarah joined us as one of our receptionists originally, and got to know our residents and relatives very well. Since finishing her degree course in Events Management she has transitioned to the role of Well-Being Coordinator. Nigel Wilcox

Nigel has 24 years experience of working in the care industry, where his first position was in the kitchen. He then took up a maintenance position and never looked back. As a previous motor technician, he is used to fixing things and tinkering, so joining Derby Heights is a home from home. Nigel lives in Staffordshire with his wife and has four children and ten grandchildren.
