My mother has been a resident of Derby Heights care home since March 2019. In that time, her care has been exceptional. The staff are attentive, kind and considerate of her needs. She is encouraged to take part in the many and varied activities on offer and the food is very good and plentiful. She regularly
reminds me of how happy she is.

I have not visited due to being isolated from March until the lockdown is lifted. Denby Heights have contacted me regularly for updates on my mother's wellbeing. She is regularly unwell and the carers have been wonderful, caring, and very responsible.

Visited a family friend and found the home very welcoming. Enjoyed the Christmas fair. The bedrooms were very nice! The home is very clean and decorated beautifully. I like that there is the atrium where I can sit with the family friend and have coffee. The home is safe and reliable and takes good care
of my family friend.

In the last year of my father's life, he could not have been better cared for. He was looked after with kindness, dignity and understanding.
Nothing was ever too much trouble.
In our view, the assessment of Derby Heights should read "outstanding in all categories".
A huge thank you to all concerned.

My mum decided to move into Derby Heights in October 2018 and it became her true home. She made amazing friends amongst the staff and residents. The staff are simply outstanding from the carers through to the kitchen, cleaning, admin and management. My mum was quite independent when she moved in and
loved helping out and participating in all the activities. And there is so much to do, as little or as much as you want, and such a wonderful environment, great food and people who truly go beyond their job as caring. My cousin is a professional care worker and had never seen such high standards. As my mum was stage IV cancer she required palliative care subsequently and the level of care was first class. I couldn't have wished for a better last year of her life. To some this review may not seem genuine as I can only put five stars/excellent everywhere, but I literally have nothing to fault. Thank you.

The fact that I came for 2 weeks respite and have now sold my house to fund my life here says it all. A carefree life with every need addressed, living a life of luxury in a lively and stimulating environment. The most important thing to me is that I have given my family the greatest gift ever - the
ability to get on with their lives knowing I am safe and happy.

Living at Derby Heights Care home has been a lifesaver for my wife who has dementia and myself who is physically impaired.
We can live within close distance of each other and miles closer to our daughter.
We are very pleased with the home, the attention and the staff and can think of nowhere else
we would have had better care and attention.

I came here form the hospital next door where I had a knee replacement. I was exhausted having moved house in December. Followed by an exhausting Christmas. After 2 weeks here, where I have lovingly cared for I am going home totally refreshed and ready to face the world again.

As someone who lives alone with no close by relatives, I needed respite following a knee replacement. My two-week stay has completely fulfilled my needs. Simple tasks I couldn't do on my own initially I can now perform. Help to do these was always available when needed. The staff and all aspects of
the home have been wonderful. I wouldn't hesitate to wish to repeat the experience if necessary. Thank you.

My mother has been a resident for 10 months, having previously been independent living a managed block of flats. She was attended 3 times a day by home carers but was quite isolated through her mobility and her very short-term memory. Since transferring t Derby Heights she has found the various activities
and people contact very beneficial. I have been delighted with all aspects of her new home.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.766)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.766) out of 10 for Derby Heights Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 28 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.766 for Derby Heights Care Home - Avery Healthcare is calculated as follows: ( (264 Excellents x 5) + (62 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 334 Ratings = 4.766
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Derby Heights Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 75 registered maximum number of service users is 15, which has been reached with 28 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
