In the last year of my father's life, he could not have been better cared for. He was looked after with kindness, dignity and understanding.
Nothing was ever too much trouble.
In our view, the assessment of Derby Heights should read "outstanding in all categories".

My mum decided to move into Derby Heights in October 2018 and it became her true home. She made amazing friends amongst the staff and residents. The staff are simply outstanding from the carers through to the kitchen, cleaning, admin and management. My mum was quite independent when she moved in and
loved helping out and participating in all the activities. And there is so much to do, as little or as much as you want, and such a wonderful environment, great food and people who truly go beyond their job as caring. My cousin is a professional care worker and had never seen such high standards. As my mum was stage IV cancer she required palliative care subsequently and the level of care was first class. I couldn't have wished for a better last year of her life. To some this review may not seem genuine as I can only put five stars/excellent everywhere, but I literally have nothing to fault. Thank you.

The fact that I came for 2 weeks respite and have now sold my house to fund my life here says it all. A carefree life with every need addressed, living a life of luxury in a lively and stimulating environment. The most important thing to me is that I have given my family the greatest gift ever - the

Living at Derby Heights Care home has been a lifesaver for my wife who has dementia and myself who is physically impaired.
We can live within close distance of each other and miles closer to our daughter.
We are very pleased with the home, the attention and the staff and can think of nowhere else
we would have had better care and attention.

I came here form the hospital next door where I had a knee replacement. I was exhausted having moved house in December. Followed by an exhausting Christmas. After 2 weeks here, where I have lovingly cared for I am going home totally refreshed and ready to face the world again.

As someone who lives alone with no close by relatives, I needed respite following a knee replacement. My two-week stay has completely fulfilled my needs. Simple tasks I couldn't do on my own initially I can now perform. Help to do these was always available when needed. The staff and all aspects of
the home have been wonderful. I wouldn't hesitate to wish to repeat the experience if necessary. Thank you.

We visit our friend every week and everyone is always very pleasant and always very helpful. When we are here at coffee time, we are always offered one. Everywhere is very clean and fresh. We never fail to notice how much care is taken of the residents and how kind the staff are.

My mother has been a resident for 10 months, having previously been independent living a managed block of flats. She was attended 3 times a day by home carers but was quite isolated through her mobility and her very short-term memory. Since transferring t Derby Heights she has found the various activities
and people contact very beneficial. I have been delighted with all aspects of her new home.

I have lived here since April 2018 and feel so lucky to be cared for by very kind, caring, patient staff. The meals are excellent, nicely served and plenty of variety to choose from. The place is kept spotlessly clean by very kind cleaning staff. My private room is perfect for my needs, looking out
onto a very well kept garden and my own bathroom has all I need.

I went to Derby heights to convalesce after having a hip operation. I was very well cared for. The staff were brilliant and fully attended to my needs.
The quality of the food was excellent which helped my recovery. I had a very pleasant room, well equipped and comfortable.
I also like the atrium
and the fact that when people came to visit me, there were many varied pleasant areas to sit - patio, lounges, atrium. What an enjoyable stay. Thank you.

Outstanding place, with good care.
Lovely environment, clean and well managed, my relative is very well looked after with compassionate staff. It feels at times that there could be more staff as it is a challenge to manage the needs of everyone, but I do not think care is compromised as a result of
this.
Activities are in place but again perhaps a more individually tailored need could be done, this is not a critic just a comment.
I would not wish my relative to be anywhere else. They are looked after with dignity and kindness and all needs are met fully.

We selected Derby Heights because of its location, facilities, quality of care and perhaps above all, the perception one has that it's a hotel rather than a typical care/nursing home. On all of these points, we haven't been disappointed. The staff have been excellent and without exception, very professional
and accommodating at all times and we have been very pleased with the overall care. Yes, it is expensive compared with other care homes, but not if compared with full board at an equivalent hotel. I can offer no better testimonial than to say that if such a need fell upon me, then I would be happy to be a resident there.

She lives with her husband in South Yorkshire, and enjoys spending time with her family.

Louise joined Derby Heights as a Senior carer and quickly progressed to Team Leader and in-house trainer.

Jo joined Derby Heights in 2018 as a Care Assistant and has been both a Senior Carer and a Team Leader during her time with us. Her family have a history of working in the care sector and Jo certainly brings the family feel to the home. As she felt ready for a fresh challenge, February 2024 heralds a major change for Jo as she has taken on the Head Housekeeper role. With all of Jo's care experience, she is a valuable asset and has lots of drive and enthusiasm to achieve the highest standards for our residents. Jo is local to Derby and enjoys spending time with her family, going to the cinema and socialising.

Janet

Janet Greaves

Job Title: Head Chef Joined: 2022

Janet brings a wealth of experience to Derby Heights on the culinary front and has had an illustrious career since leaving catering college. She has worked in a number of high-profile hotels and restaurants including a 5* restaurant and bistro in Cornwall for ten years. Covid heralded a change for Janet when hotels and restaurants were closed, she sought an alternate route and found herself working in the kitchens of care establishments.


Janet joined our team in 2022 and now focuses on tasty and nutritious meals for our residents. She has a seven-year-old boxer cross dog that keeps her busy outside of work and she also rides a Harley Davidson in her spare time.

Lena Patrick

Job Title: Administrator Joined: 2023

Lena joined Derby Heights in 2023 as a Customer Service Associate and whilst she really enjoyed the front-of-house role, when an opportunity arose for an Administrator she jumped at the chance. Lena is originally from the USA but has settled in Derby with her husband & cat, and she is getting to know the area and soaking up the Derbyshire culture and accent.

Sarah joined us as one of our receptionists originally, and got to know our residents and relatives very well. Since finishing her degree course in Events Management she has transitioned to the role of Well-Being Coordinator. She brings a wealth of ideas and enthusiasm and is looking forward to enhancing the lives of our residents.

Nigel Wilcox

Job Title: Maintenance Operative Joined: 2025

Nigel has 24 years experience of working in the care industry, where his first position was in the kitchen. He then took up a maintenance position and never looked back. As a previous motor technician, he is used to fixing things and tinkering, so joining Derby Heights is a home from home. Nigel lives in Staffordshire with his wife and has four children and ten grandchildren.
