Review from G H (Sister of Resident) published on 13 January 2026 Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
We had to find a care home quickly so my sister could be discharged from hospital and settled before Christmas. We visited several and were really struck from our initial meeting by the feeling of warmth within the home as we were walking around. All the support in helping us sort things out moving
her from the hospital to becoming a resident was greatly appreciated. The difference we have seen in our sister in a few short weeks is vast which is a result of: getting her medication on time, lots to do, being made to feel welcome by everyone (staff and residents), good food and the feeling of reassurance she now has if she feels unwell at any time of day or night! The staff can't do enough to help her (and us) make sure she feels at home. She already wishes she'd moved in months ago! The relief for us not having to worry about what the next phone call will bring has been huge. Thank you.
Reply from Will Hammond, Customer Liaison Manager at Silvermere Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you for sharing such a lovely review. We're delighted to hear how well your sister has settled in and that the move has brought comfort to both her and your family. Knowing she feels welcomed, supported, and reassured day and night means so much to our team. We're thrilled to have her as part of the Silvermere community.

The warmth and respect from staff towards residents is exemplary. I am so impressed by the quality of interactions I have observed. Residents are treated equally and as individuals. There is a bonhomie that makes Silvermere a very pleasant place to be, as a visitor and as a resident. The food is
delicious and plentiful. Activities are varied and a real effort is made to get to know the residents and their likes and dislikes.
Reply from Will Hammond, Customer Liaison Manager at Silvermere Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you so much for sharing such thoughtful feedback. We're delighted to hear that the warmth and respect shown by our team has stood out to you - creating genuine, individual connections with our residents is at the heart of everything we do at Silvermere.

My mum came to Silvermere for respite care and from the first enquiry we made until the day she went back home, the service from everyone at Silvermere has been fantastic. We couldn't have picked a better place to look after mum. The staff, to a person, are amazing. They made mum feel welcome and helped
get her through what was a stressful time. The home is clean and tidy, the food looks and smells great (and mum said it tasted good too) and there was a wide variety of entertainment on offer.

Should we ever require care again, be it respite or something more permanent, I wouldn't hesitate to choose Silvermere.

Reply from Will Hammond, Customer Liaison Manager at Silvermere Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you so much for sharing this thoughtful review. I'm delighted to hear that from your first enquiry through to Mum's return home, you felt fully supported - and I'll be sure to pass your kind words to our care, hospitality, and activities teams who helped make her stay welcoming during a stressful time.

It's wonderful that Mum enjoyed the food and found plenty of entertainment to keep her engaged, and that the home felt clean and tidy throughout. Knowing you "wouldn't hesitate" to choose Silvermere again means a great deal to us.

Silvermere is an excellent care home with both myself and my wife being residents. Care for those suffering from dementia is outstanding as this tragic disease is so difficult to manage with various conditions. The staff are always caring thoughtful and gentle in spite of the many challenges they
often face. As with any organisation there are occasional issues but these are always responded to quickly and carefully either by the senior management or staff when asked.. I could not recommend this Care Home highly enough.

My mother has been a resident at Silvermere for over 11 years (she moved there in August 2013). We have had numerous managers and staff members over that time, some have been better than others. The current manager has really elevated the attitude and ethos of Silvermere. Both the residents and staff
members seem so much more relaxed and happy. She is a terrific manager. We all hope she stays!
Reply from Abimbola Olanrewaju, General Manager at Silvermere Care Home - Avery HealthcareThank you so much for taking the time to complete a review and thank you for the beautiful comment. I can reassure you that there will be stability in the management team and we will continue to ensure that all our residents receive the best care and treatment that will not just improve their own quality of life but create happiness and a conducive atmosphere for friends and family. I have looked into all the areas you rated in your review and I have put in place measures to improve the quality of care provided in those areas and am sure you will begin to see the improvement as you visit the home. I really appreciate your feedback and review. Thank you.

I had a fall in my house and fell and broke my collarbone. I was living on my own. My neighbours came and helped me. I went to the hospital and my children decided to bring me to Silvermere. Before choosing Silvermere, I thoroughly researched care homes for my Mum, visiting over 8 facilities that often failed CQC inspections. Discovering Silvermere was a relief as it surpassed others in quality and affordability. My Mum moved in in 2013 and received exceptional care, feeling happy and safe
due to the dedicated staff's efforts. They improved her well-being through proper medication and care and we're always in close communication with me about everything. The friendly atmosphere, delicious food, and high cleanliness standards at Silvermere distinguished it. When my blind Uncle needed care, Silvermere provided excellent support. Both my Mum and Uncle valued the caring staff, forming genuine deep relationships. My strong bond with the staff and residents at Silvermere over the years made them feel like a second family, with my Mum preferring the vibrant life there over a live-in carer at her home due to the enriching experiences and joy found at Silvermere.

After viewing various local care homes, Silvermere stood out to us as the best fit for my grandmother. Moving her to a care home was never something we thought would happen, but the staff at Silvermere made the transition as smooth as possible for her. Staff are kind, warm and friendly and very knowledgable.
There is a real sense of community with residents being able to socialise and settle at their own pace with support. Nothing is too much trouble. They’ve gone above and beyond to ensure that my grandma has felt safe and looked after and supported us as a family too. The standard of upkeep in the home by far outweighs anywhere else. It has a homely feel and is maintained to an exceptional standard. The outlook on the grounds and the lake is exceptional and provides a lovely haven for residents to sit and enjoy the outside environment. Christmas and birthdays residents are always made to feel that extra bit special.

I had to find a care home quickly, without an appointment I decided to call into Silvermere. The receptionist directed me straight through to the general manager, immediately I felt reassured, the cup of tea also helped. My first question was I think I need to book some respite care, what do I do? The
general manager asked me about the situation and let me talk. I left over two hours later with a clear plan in place, including an assessment the following day. I was there four days later settling in a new resident, starting with fish and chips for lunch - perfect.

I went with my dad to see my grandfather in Silvermere. We weren't too sure what to expect as he has always been against care homes. The staff would give my dad regular updates on how he was and what he had been up to. But actually coming in and seeing my grandfather happy made my day. Sitting chatting
with some other residents about past events. It was nice to see my grandfather so happy. My dad said he was a very quiet man after my grandma past four years ago - never went out and never chatted with anyone. So thank you to all the team who made my grandfather's stay a great one and helped him be himself again.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.849) out of 10 for Silvermere Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.874 for Silvermere Care Home - Avery Healthcare is calculated as follows: ( (200 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 223 Ratings = 4.874
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Silvermere Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 registered maximum number of service users is 14.4, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
