The ambience of the home is first class, the staff are caring excellent and knowledgeable. The food is great but could do with some variation at lunchtime. I have been a resident since the home opened and have waited until now before writing my review to see whether the standard is maintained which
it is despite some small staffing problems which ALL care homes are suffering. Despite this my husband has now moved in and is very happy with the quality of care. The management listen to any concerns and does react accordingly to them. Keep up the standard!!!

It is especially rewarding to know that despite the challenges faced across the sector, you feel the high standards of care have been maintained.

My sister has Alzheimer's disease. She has always lived independently, but her condition has advanced to a situation where she is no longer safe alone. The staff at Middleshaw have managed the delicate balance between acknowledging her independence with giving her support. Their good humour and kindness
make a big difference. They treat the residents with respect.

Both my parents have gone to Middleshaw Hills and I just cannot fault it. We had got to crisis point and the staff there really 'pulled out the stops' to get everything sorted, so my parents could get in there quickly. The service from day 1 has been exceptional, super friendly staff throughout the
home, who introduce themselves and want to help. The care and compassion provided by the care staff is wonderful and nothing is too much trouble. There is a weekly programme of events and residents can join in with anything they wish, helped by the staff if required. The whole home is spotless throughout and the bedrooms/bathrooms are lovely, with fabulous views (many rooms can see Pendle Hill). A huge thank you to everyone involved.

My husband and I had visited the Middleshaw Hills on two occasions prior to my husband being accepted for short term care. We were very impressed by both the accommodation and staff. Not thinking at the time we would need their support to soon after the viewing everything happened so suddenly I was
in turmoil but everyone at Middleshaw were so kind and reassuring.
Everything is perfect and suits both my husband's and my needs.

My mother went for 2 weeks respite care and I have to say, she was very nervous, as this was her first time away from myself and family. I spoke to mum every day whilst I was on holidat and she was more than happy with the facilities and staff and spoke very highly of everyone involved in her care.
Other family members visited mum and couldn't believe how beautiful it was. They were made very welcome as I was, I would definitely recommend Middleshaw Hills to any of their potential clients, and I'm so relieved and grateful to everyone who cared for her.

Lovely new building. Ample parking with EV charging. Impressive spacious airy layout, Nothing too much trouble for attentive, caring staff. Private spaces and rooms for family get-togethers. Cinema and other activity rooms. Lots of arranged activities - even if my 101 year old mother doesn't
appreciate them all. Ground floor garden rooms have own access to garden courtyard. All rooms have queen-size beds, and my mother's has an ensuite wet room - not sure if they all have that but they probably do - Downloadable brochure.

My husband has thoroughly enjoyed his stay at Middleshaw Hills Care Home and is so looking forward to going again in September. The care he received could not have been any better. The attention to detail from Management and all the Staff was exemplary. I cannot thank the staff enough and will be keeping
in touch. Thank you all once again.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (9.035)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (9.035) out of 10 for Middleshaw Hills is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.905 for Middleshaw Hills is calculated as follows: ( (76 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.905
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.13 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Middleshaw Hills is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 13.2 = 0.53
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
