Simon joined the British Army straight from school, serving with the Royal Corps of Signals for 15 years. In 2002, he began his degree in Nursing, qualifying in 2005. Over the following five years, Simon worked in several countries around the world, culminating in Cyprus, where he supported United Nations troops as a nurse on the buffer line.
After completing 23 years of service in the Armed Forces, Simon retired and moved into civilian healthcare, working in a variety of roles within private hospitals and GP practices across West Yorkshire. He later accepted a position in a nursing home in Scarborough, which ignited his passion for social care and the residents it serves. Although he spent a brief period working outside the social care sector, Simon soon returned, joining the team at Manor Park.
Simon is deeply committed to delivering high-quality care within social care settings. He was a member of the Social Care Nursing Advisory Board, a national initiative that recognises and supports nurses working in social care. Throughout his career, Simon has completed numerous professional development courses, including a Postgraduate Certificate in Diabetes and Advanced Life Support, which he applies daily in his practice.
Having spent much of his childhood growing up in Malton, Simon feels he has come full circle by returning to work in the area. He is passionate about ensuring residents receive the very best care and firmly believes that Manor Park is the residents’ home, considering it a privilege to be part of their lives.
Outside of work, Simon is a keen cricketer and plays whenever possible. He also greatly values spending time with his three children, who live in West Yorkshire.
