I can't speak highly enough about the care and attention that my husband received from the staff on Floor 3 during a two and a half week Respite stay at The Oaks Care Home, Newtown.
The Nursing Sisters were well trained and very caring toward residents with Dementia, and always maintained the necessary
professional standard.
Senior care workers and their staff were found to be actively keeping residents happy and safe. A friendly and welcoming atmosphere was felt.
A friendly face greeted us at reception, and privacy enabled frank discussions with Management.
High standards were expected, and high standards were met.
Thank you.

Outstanding.
We are so glad that we were able to move my mother-in-law from a residential home in Lancashire to Manor Park for the final weeks of her life. All the staff were so caring and friendly, including the receptionist, the cook and housekeepers. Seeing her face light up in response to the gentle
and encouraging way the carers spoke to her will remain a lasting memory for us.
Very touching moments too- such as on one of her final mornings, we went into her bedroom to find that the night staff had turned her bed to face the window. She was bathed in sunshine, looking out to the beautiful view outside. Very moving.
As a family, we spent most of the last two days by her sideand witnessed the amazing 24 hour care the wonderful staff provided. The home was also supported well by local District Nurses and a dedicated Doctor.
When we were choosing a care home, we didn't fully appreciate how beneficial it would be to us, as visitors, to spend those last moments wi

I always feel very welcome when I visit and feel Mum is very safe and well looked after.
She is now very settled and content.
She is treated with care, respect and dignity.
Her room is spacious, warm and clean.
We are informed of any health issues.
All staff are polite and friendly and have
taken the time to get to know Mum, even though they are so busy.
I have no qualms in recommending The Oaks Carehome.

My wife moved into the Oaks Care Home in March 2025 and was a resident for 13 months before her recent passing. She received the most caring attention throughout her stay. All her basic needs were adequately catered for and she had a positive experience at the home.
As her husband, I was encouraged
to visit as much as I wished, so we were able to maintain a close relationship. The whole team welcomed me with open arms and I always felt I was able to make a positive impact towards my wife's care.
The home always tried to think of the quality of life of my wife and engage her in activities such as arts and crafts which she enjoyed and to attend trips outside the home.
The staff were always kind, considerate and efficient. They were respectful of her needs.

My friend is a service user in this Home and I have been visiting for 4 months. It has been a positive experience. Staff are friendly and approachable to me as a visitor. They also showed great care and respect to the residents. The Home is clean and comfortable. Garden is well thought out with raised
beds & a 'putting' green.
All residents looked very well cared for and the atmosphere was calm and inviting. I would recommend this Home to others.

We hunted around for a suitable care home for my Aunt's (AJ) stay. Birkdale Tower appeared to be miles above other care homes in Southport.
Our first impression was very positive & the standard of care has been consistently high throughout her respite stay. The staff were all very attentive, kind
& generally focused on resident's well-being.
Thank you Birkdale Tower Team!

I chose Manor Park for a period of respite care after making an initial visit as I knew it had only recently opened. I was impressed by the overall design and landscaping. The communal rooms were spacious and bright yet with a homely feel. The corridors had colourful pictures of the Malton area. There
was a good choice of freshly cooked food on the daily menus with individual preferences accommodated and spacious dining rooms overlooking the gardens. The care I received from staff was exceptional. Always a knock on my door before entering, and always a quick response to my bell call day and night. Nothing was too much trouble from a cup of tea to extra towels or a little chat, and the housekeeping standard was excellent. I had help with my mobility recovery and regular check on the medication I needed. All of my stay provided me with peace of mind, and I would highly recommend a visit to Manor Park if considering care needs.

My auntie has been cared for at St. Helens Hall and Lodge and I cannot thank the staff enough for the kindness and compassion they have shown her. She is in the end stages of dementia and the care, patience, and love they show towards her means so much to our family.

I would especially like to mention

Sharon, Joanne and Michelle, who have all been wonderful. They have been incredibly caring towards my auntie and very supportive and helpful to me and my family during such a difficult time. They always keep us informed and are there if we have any questions or worries.

The home itself is always clean, tidy and welcoming. It gives us great comfort knowing my auntie is being looked after so well.

I am very pleased that we chose St. Helens Hall and Lodge for my auntie's care and I'm very grateful to all the staff for everything they do.

I used the service to start recovery and rehab, after my right shoulder replacement. The room was excellent. The ground floor was the most suitable for my needs. The building is impressive. The activity programme is in place and not patronising. I live close by so I was able to have lots of visitors
who I entertained away from my room. Nice staff, food well cooked.

I have been well cared for during my stay. The diabetic nurse comes 3 times a day to give me my insulin and keep an eye on my glucose levels. The food is very tasty with good variety. Sometimes it's not hot enough. I have enjoyed the activities especially movement & music, pub quiz and afternoon tea.
Serving of food can sometimes be slow.
I would recommend a stay here.
I'd appreciate a knock on the door before entering.

Very impressive design and furnishings. Everywhere beautifully clean. Possible improvements would be to provide a draft letter to advise a residents change of address, correction of first page of residents contract and clear labels on buffet items to warn and protect people at risk of allergic reactions.
The main lack is that of security for valuables.

Dalton Court Care Home

from W P (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 5 March 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5
My FIL has been a resident in this home since December 2025. The staff seem friendly and caring. The general atmosphere is always welcoming. There are however concerning features of care that point to a lack of standards in care. Residents don't have routine regular visits from hairdressing or podiatry
unless they are requested. I have never met a care home where this is the case before. The home does not have a dedicated hair salon. Many now do and a visiting hairdresser who ensures every resident gets a weekly hair wash. Not the case in this care home. Unfortunately there is the same lack of care with hearing aids. These are vital for communication with the elderly yet carers seem to be ambivalent towards looking after them and using them where the resident isn't capable of doing this themselves. This is a very basic care need. I feel this is a place where your family member will be well looked after if they can express their needs but where they can't it might be different.
Reply from Gillian McAllister, Home Manager at Dalton Court Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your father-in-law's experience with us. We truly appreciate your kind comments about our team, the welcoming atmosphere of the home, and the care provided. It means a great deal to know that you feel he is well looked after.
We are, however, sorry to hear about your concerns regarding hairdressing, podiatry visits, and support with hearing aids. We understand how important these services are to residents' comfort, dignity and communication. Our approach is to arrange hairdressing and podiatry services based on individual preference and consent, but we recognise that this may not always feel as proactive as families expect.
Your feedback has been shared with the management team, who would welcome the opportunity to meet with you to better understand your concerns and discuss how we can further support your father in law.
Please feel free to contact the home at your convenience.
Thank you again.
