The care my grandad received from Birkdale Tower Lodge was amazing the staff were very helpful and supportive when he was on end of life. The home was very clean and tidy had some lovely chats with some of the staff who were very supportive towards me and my grandad til the end I couldn't recommend
this home enough thank you for everything.

Since Dad transferred from respite services to Birkdale Tower Lodge, he has become relaxed, happy and his health has improved. The staff are conscientious and kind and genuinely have the residents' wellbeing at heart. There are a variety of activities to engage and entertain, but no one is pressurised
to take part. We've been delighted at how well Dad has settled in and would not consider anywhere else.

What a lovely, friendly and caring lodge. The staff are dedicated to providing a safe environment for our elderly people. Nothing seems too much trouble.

After being assessed and considered to be eligible for the home after 3 days we were informed that they could not meet his needs and he would have to move. In general the day staff were great but found the night staff to be very uncaring and inpatient. I found my partner in bed with his day clothes
on and soaking wet at 8am when i visited him early 12 times out of the four weeks he was there. Within the first week his glasses were lost and found the following day, and his hearing aids were lost never to be found. A large poster was placed in his room to indicate that his family would be doing his washing and no item of clothing was to be removed. Half of my partners clothes still went missing. When I complained his tooth brush was not being used as it was bone dry every morning i was told it had been recorded on his notes that his teeth had been brushed. I would never recommend this care home to anyone who wanted compassion and genuine care for their loved ones find somewhere else.

Sadly, the reviewer did not inform us of her partner's habit of eating objects (tissues, plastic) during meals, a major choking risk. The reviewer claimed the resident wore pads and complied with care despite urinary incontinence, which proved untrue. The resident also had a habit of removing pants and urinating in public areas. As a residential, not nursing, care home, we couldn't meet the resident's needs and informed the reviewer immediately. The reviewer admitted knowing of these behaviours. Had we known, we would not have accepted the resident. Despite this, the reviewer left them in our care. The resident's glasses were found under their bed. Items 'lost' were not labelled as agreed. The resident also took his things to others' rooms. We regret the failure of respite care, but it was due to the reviewer's lack of candour and unrealistic expectations of our capabilities. Despite this, we kept the resident safe and comfortable. We wish them all the best in their new nursing home.

My sister went into Birkdale Tower Lodge quite recently. It is taking her time to settle. My first impression was how very nice it was, the decor and cleanliness are fantastic. I have stayed twice to have Sunday lunch with my sister and I found it most enjoyable. The staff are so very nice and so helpful.
Nowhere is like home but Birkdale Tower Lodge comes as next best.

My dad has now been a resident at Birkdale Tower Lodge for over fourteen months and whilst he will never feel as happy as he did in his own home, he has now adapted to communal Birkdale Tower Lodge with the support of wonderful staff and fellow residents around him.
The staff and building are exceptional
and there is always something to be involved in should he wish to participate. The lodge is cleaned to a high standard and it does not feel like a traditional care home but more like a hotel on occasions.

Dad stayed at Birkdale Tower Lodge for respite care during July and August. It was a difficult decision at first but due to family circumstances, it was what was best for us all. Having met the staff on our initial visit to this lovely home, we were reassured that Dad's care would be in safe hands.
He came home at the end of August and is looking forward to a return visit next year - he misses.
As a family, we cannot thank the staff enough for the care, involvement and friendship shown during his time there - I'm looking forward t a time when I can stay too!

Overall experience is very good. All staff are very pleasant and helpful; although it would be helpful if everyone wore a name badge.
I have had a few issues with laundry items going missing even though my name has been sewn in all items. Also could clothes by hung up or folded when back from laundry
as my daughter has to tidy my clothes.

My father is very happy with his home at Birkdale Tower Lodge. He is well looked after by the staff, all of whom take the time and trouble to ensure that all is well.

As a family, you hope to find a place suitable for your parent/parents as they get older.
Birkdale Tower Lodge is just that, it fulfils everything you hoped for.

My mother came here initially as respite care but it quickly became apparent that the care she was receiving was beyond our expectations. Having worked in the care sector now for more than 15 years in various roles, the most fulfilling role has to be working with prospective residents, their family or their representatives. I find it most rewarding in helping to find the most suitable care home that will endeavour to meet the care needs of each new resident, along with show casing and promoting the many superb facilities each individual care home has to offer.


My main duty is just by being there every step of the way, helping to support families to take away some of the stress of trying to find the right care home for their loved one.


In my spare time I love nothing more than walking my cockapoo, travelling to different counties within the UK and visiting different countries to sample the different restaurants, sightseeing and experiencing different cultures, but most importantly spending quality time with family and friends.
