Whilst visiting my father I was impressed with the level of care and support from the whole team looking after my father. Under difficult situations, they remained positive and upbeat, giving my father dignity and value, regardless of his situation. Thank you.

The staff are very good, patient and helpful and my uncle is checked regularly to make sure he is ok and comfortable. His room is warm, light and airy and overall the home is well decorated and inviting. Every week a programme of activities is delivered to his room and there is plenty going on for the
residents.

We as a family are really pleased with Dalton Court Care Home. The kind, gentle and professional team set the tone for the care staff who are friendly, smiley and happy to help. The staff seem to have convivial working relationships as far as I can see. When there were difficulties getting my mother's
medication, staff went out of their way to help. The rooms are clean and beautifully decorated and furnished.

I cannot praise Dalton Court enough!! Clean, well-run, good atmosphere. My experience of staff they are kind, respectful, patient, always bright and cheerful, they engage in activities. Wish all care homes were like Dalton Court. They're all nicely dressed every day (the clients). The staff make time
to talk to each and every one, they comfort and love them as if they were their own grandparents and I have no worries when I leave Brian, I know he is getting well looked after. 10/10

My FIL has been a resident in this home since December 2025. The staff seem friendly and caring. The general atmosphere is always welcoming. There are however concerning features of care that point to a lack of standards in care. Residents don't have routine regular visits from hairdressing or podiatry
unless they are requested. I have never met a care home where this is the case before. The home does not have a dedicated hair salon. Many now do and a visiting hairdresser who ensures every resident gets a weekly hair wash. Not the case in this care home. Unfortunately there is the same lack of care with hearing aids. These are vital for communication with the elderly yet carers seem to be ambivalent towards looking after them and using them where the resident isn't capable of doing this themselves. This is a very basic care need. I feel this is a place where your family member will be well looked after if they can express their needs but where they can't it might be different.
Reply from Gillian McAllister, Home Manager at Dalton Court Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your father-in-law's experience with us. We truly appreciate your kind comments about our team, the welcoming atmosphere of the home, and the care provided. It means a great deal to know that you feel he is well looked after.
We are, however, sorry to hear about your concerns regarding hairdressing, podiatry visits, and support with hearing aids. We understand how important these services are to residents' comfort, dignity and communication. Our approach is to arrange hairdressing and podiatry services based on individual preference and consent, but we recognise that this may not always feel as proactive as families expect.
Your feedback has been shared with the management team, who would welcome the opportunity to meet with you to better understand your concerns and discuss how we can further support your father in law.
Please feel free to contact the home at your convenience.
Thank you again.

The care and nursing staff are excellent, as is the activity coordinator. They all work extremely hard to create a happy, caring environment. We have noticed sometimes if the day room/lounge is full of residents, there is no carer present. We feel that sometimes the carers are under pressure and work
extremely hard, which makes you question if they are under-staffed, or is their management at fault? On occasion, we have been in at 11 am and Mum hasn't been dressed. I feel family should be able to go in before 10:30 am.
Reply from Maria Pereira, Area Manager at Dalton Court Care HomeThank you for your feedback and for your kind comments about our care and nursing staff and activity coordinator. We are pleased to hear your appreciation of their hard work and dedication.

We are sorry to hear about your concerns regarding staff presence in the lounge and the occasions when your mum had not been dressed by 11am. While staff may at times be supporting residents elsewhere, we continually review staffing and routines to ensure residents are well cared for and supported.

We appreciate your comments about visiting times and will take this feedback into consideration. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience, as this helps us to continually improve our service.

I don't have any concerns so far with the care my father has received since moving in. My only concern at the moment is that the heater hasn't worked in his room since he moved in in December 2023, and feel the portable heater plugged in in his room is a health and safety hazard, it's hot to touch and
he could fall over it. This has been mentioned before. Room 27.
Reply from Steve Hamblett, Operations Director at Dalton Court Care HomeThank you for your feedback. We're pleased to hear you have no concerns about your father's care, and we appreciate you raising the issue with the heating in Room 27.

The radiator was checked last week, and we are awaiting the contractors' return to complete the necessary work. We are chasing this daily, and if the repairs do not resolve the issue, a replacement radiator will be arranged.

In the meantime, we understand your concerns about the temporary portable heater. Although not our preferred option, it ensures your father remains warm, and a formal risk assessment is in place to ensure its safe use.

We also offered an alternative room while the heating is resolved, and we respect your decision to decline this to avoid any stress or confusion for your father.

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention. Please contact us at any time with any further questions or concerns.

My wife was admitted to Dalton Court Care Home in March 24. Daphne had lost all mobility and found it difficult to communicate. All staff treated Daphne with love and kindness, with care and compassion.
Whenever we visited we always received a friendly greeting. Staff were willing and able to inform
us of Daphne's condition and they extended the same kindness to ourselves. My wife died on 29th June and the nurses have my grateful thanks for giving me time to say goodbye before they carried out their professional duties. I have no hesitation in recommending Dalton Court to any potential patients.

My husband had a very very bad experience in the home before he was transferred to this one which caused him to be neglected and made his dementia more rapid in progress. Obviously, this caused me and my family a lot of stress and worry. So Dalton Court has made up for a horrendous experience and is
caring and professional. Can't praise and thank them enough. Thank you. Wonderful, Dalton Court staff.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.067)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.067) out of 10 for Dalton Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.217 for Dalton Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (103 Excellents x 5) + (60 Goods x 4) + (22 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (12 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 198 Ratings = 4.217
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Dalton Court Care Home is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 14 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
