I've been visiting the resident regularly since she came to Burscough Manor a few months ago & I was impressed from day 1.
The overall atmosphere of the home is one of welcome and kindness & it is clear that for every staff member at whatever level, this is not "just a job", it's a vocation.
The
home is clean & well maintained; the nursing staff are accessible & visible - (if I have a question I don't have to hunt someone down).
As well as being a friend to this resident, I visit on behalf of her & my local church & as such I have visited a number of care homes in the area and I have to say Burscough Manor is certainly ahead of the game.
When she first arrived my friend was understandably anxious and confused & quite distressed at times but over the weeks the anxiety & distress have gone and she has said numerous times that she feels safe and cared for where she is.; that says it all!

When my husband was admitted I was very upset. All the staff that day were so kind and understanding as the time he is there lengthens I have found everyone from the reception desk to all the hardworking caring staff as well as cleaners have shown empathy and kindness. My nan went into the care home, 2 weeks ago sadly losing her fight with cancer the staff were amazing, nothing was ever too much trouble couldn't ask for better people to take care of my nana. Sadly 7th Feb she lost her fight dying peacefully in her sleep, after the death of my nan, the staff were amazing
with my mum they couldn't support her enough! And they supported my mum to the very end, I wouldn't recommend a better care home for my elderly person or someone who needs support living or around the clock care.

My dad was neglected and failed by Burscough Manor! They didn't give the duty of care that was meant to be given. They ignored his needs, this made my dad's condition deteriorate and for me to take matters into my own hands! My dad then passed away! I would avoid this place. They are only interested
in the money, nothing else! Please don't put your loved one in here! My dad was only in here for couple of weeks and didn't have the choice but had to come here because the hospital told us he had no choice!

I cannot praise highly enough the care given to my father at Burscough Manor. All of the staff, from the management down, create such a wonderful environment that it is like having the support of a second family. They made such a difference to both the life of my father and mother who visited daily.

A dear family friend has used respite for a couple of years at Burscough Manor and is now a permanent resident.
We are always so impressed with the care and kindness shown by staff to him and ourselves as visitors.
Nothing is too much trouble and all staff are so friendly and welcoming. As a new
build home, the facilities and layout are ideal and more like a luxury hotel than a nursing home.

I cannot praise the staff enough, everyone, from domestics to managers, is very professional. The rooms are bright and airy, all ensuite.
The food is exceptional and the chef adjusts the menu to include residents' favourite foods.
The activity staff also go above and beyond making days enjoyable,
the activities coordinator is quite an asset.
Carers have become friends and have listened to concerns or fears and given plenty of reassurance.

My father has been into Burscough Manor Nursing Home on several occasions for respite and both my father and all his family have always been really grateful and happy with the love and care shown to him. My father has decided to move into Burscough Manor permanently now because of this.
The home itself
is beautifully appointed and looked after, the staff from every department are superb and nothing is too much trouble.

Staff and management are so friendly and approachable, nothing is too much trouble. I have found excellent care of my mum, plenty of activities to occupy my mum during the normal working week, my mum enjoys taking part, going in the lovely garden area, meeting other residents in the home. My mum enjoys
all of the meals, from breakfast to dinner. The quality of care is excellent from all the staff at the home. I have personally been involved with organising additional care for my mum with the management team always very helpful and willing to oblige any requests.

My grandad has been into Burscough Manor twice on respite now and absolutely loves Burscough Manor.
The home is well staffed, has a great rapport with him, makes an effort to get to know the residents and always around checking if he needs anything.
The manager is very attentive, clearly knows the
residents and their families well and nothing is too much trouble.
It's lovely knowing that from hospital he has somewhere safe to go where he gets some rest and recuperation, to build up strength before going home. The physiotherapist on-site is a brilliant bonus!

I am very happy with the care my brother receives, he has been in the home for twelve months. He loves the staff and has big smiles for certain ones. They never know when I call in, I can visit any time and I am very pleased to see my brother is well cared for. The meals are excellent and he enjoys
them very much. They do assist him with feeding, he has to be wheelchaired into the lounge/dining room and they try to involve him in activities but he is not very good at joining in, he is quite happy to watch. I can't praise the staff enough for what they do for my brother, I know he is in the best place possible for his care. Thank you.

My dad had a hospital appointment and I knew nothing about it nor did my mum. Apparently, he was having blood tests and other tests. I just think the family needs to know when a family member is going to the hospital for any kind of treatment; especially when it's a hospital in particular.

My mother was recently admitted to Burscough Manor for respite care and physiotherapy following a fall that resulted in an unstable C1 spinal fracture. (She was supposed to be in hospital but they didn't have a bed available for her.)
On the day she was admitted she was forced to sign a waiver stating
she didn't want side frames on her bed, despite wanting (and probably needing) them to help her get in/out of bed. When she asked why she had to sign this, the response was "We don't have any bed frames".
She has to wear a neck brace at all times, to keep her neck firmly in position and stop her fracture from getting worse: this collar needs to be examined/changed daily. In the two weeks she's been there her brace has only been changed three times was freely able to move.
The food is awful. The choice being culinary delights such as 'a hot dog' or 'chicken nuggets' followed by jelly, which wouldn't pass muster in a prison.
Avoid unless *major* quality improvements are made.

Very pleased with the level of service provided. All of the staff treat Dad with kindness and respect. He has a nice room with a garden patio area. He loves the food provided. At age ninety-three, he is in a much safe place than continuing to live independently.

We are a team that truly strives for the best outcomes, not just for our residents, but for the staff too. We believe that a positive attitude can really shape the atmosphere of a home, so we do our best to lead with optimism every day. We operate with an open-door policy and always aim to be approachable, working closely alongside our team to build a supportive, collaborative environment.


What we love most about our role as joint Registered Care Managers is the opportunity to shape a vision for Burscough Manor that focuses on continuous improvement and achieving the best possible outcomes for each individual resident. A huge part of our role is working with multi-disciplinary teams and building strong professional relationships. But for us, it’s also about the personal connections—fostering genuine relationships with residents and their families and knowing that we are truly making a difference in their lives.

I have worked in the care sector since I was 18, and I have worked my way up from a care assistant to a senior care assistant. While working in care, I completed my level 2/3 NVQ in health and social care and even progressed to complete my CHAPS degree within the company I worked for, which also led me to further my career and become a unit manager.


I joined Ribble Court in 2022 as a senior care assistant, then moved to Burscough Manor in March 2023 and got promoted to unit lead on the two dementia units and then was promoted to deputy manager in November within a short space of time.


Sandstone Care is an amazing company to work for. The whole team are very involved in the standards of care that all residents receive. Building a world that makes a positive difference to those in later life is a passion of the team.


At Burscough Manor, we all work as a team and work to a high standard to deliver person-centred care to all residents in our home. Knowing that we truly make a difference in a person's life is the most rewarding. I love my job and the team. I am currently completing my level 5 leadership and management course at the unit to progress my career further in the years to come.

Andrew Mason

Job Title: Clinical Deputy Manager Joined: 2021

Andrew joined Sandstone Care Group in September 2021 as a registered nurse. He has since been internally promoted to Clinical Deputy Manager in 2023.


Andrew assists the Registered Manager with the everyday running of the home and ensures high-quality person-centred care is being delivered at Burscough Manor at all times. This includes but is not limited to, recruitment of staff, audits, medication management, reviewing care plans and having 1 to 1's with the residents.


Andrew has worked in the care sector since the age of 16. At the age of 24, he became a Mental Health Nurse and worked with the NHS for over 12 years. Since then he has worked in care homes, progressing from Nurse to Head of Nursing and now his current role as Deputy Manager.


Andrew is passionate about his job and likes to work alongside other passionate employees in Burscough Manor Nursing Home, to ensure the residents have the best quality of life they can possibly have.
