Very pleased with the level of service provided. All of the staff treat Dad with kindness and respect. He has a nice room with a garden patio area. He loves the food provided. At age ninety-three, he is in a much safe place than continuing to live independently.

All staff are very pleasant and look after my husband well. He is reasonably settled into his routine but progress is much slower this time. Memory is very poor and trying to walk is wobbly, he has the odd "better" day but not at the stage where he was before being admitted to hospital. Speech is very
limited and he seems unable to function by himself in any capacity.

More like a five-star, boutique hotel than a care home. Excellent staff and great management team. 'Hats off' to the manager and her management style. Everybody is so very thoughtful and caring.

My nan went into Burscough Manor Care Home for three weeks. The home is beautiful and everyone is very friendly. My nan has been very well looked after and has had a great time. The food looks and smells amazing, beautiful views and lots of activities keep everyone busy. The bedrooms all have en-suite
like being in a hotel. Cannot praise this home enough.

My husband was admitted to Burscough Manor Care Home having spent three months in hospital. He was on an end-of-life package so sadly only spent a short time in your care. Our family and all his friends, who visited him there, were impressed by the organisation and standard of the home. We felt the
staff, in every way, were outstanding and caring and we thank you so much for your kindness and professionalism which were second to none.

My mother-in-law has just moved into this beautiful facility, which is clean, comfortable and has exceptional facilities. From walking through reception, it is a bright and welcoming environment, where staff greet everyone with a smile. My relative is being treated positively and respectfully. We couldn't
be happier with Burscough Manor.

Friendly management and staff are attentive to the needs of all in their care. Rooms are spacious and airy. All areas of the care home are kept beautifully clean and any items of maintenance that arise are quickly dealt with. There is a varied menu, with dietary needs being met and the food is nicely
cooked and presented. Where able, residents are encouraged to participate in a range of activities. Charges are commensurate with the standard of care provided. Thank you, Burscough Manor.

The new entertainment organiser does group activities and one to ones with residents. Seems to be well organised, introduced herself at the beginning. Hopefully my mum will get plenty of stimulation each day. Keep it going. Mum enjoyed the coronation celebrations. Thank you.

I have nothing but praise (on behalf of my sister) for the care she received at the care home before returning home. Everyone was so kind and caring and thanks go to the kitchen staff, carers, nurses and reception.

We would certainly recommend the Home to anyone who was thinking of placing a relative

Home from home the title says! this place is anything but! On first appearance, it looks fantastic. My brother who is 66 and has Alzheimer's went in for some respite recently. When he went in he could go to the toilet with our assistance. However, it became quite apparent in the first few days that
he was being left to dirty in his pad. This was such a heartbreaking thing for us to see! Even though we constantly asked for them to take him to the toilet. He came out a few weeks later a shadow of himself with his backside all burnt where he had been left to wear pads for hours on end. We constantly reported this to the nurse in charge and were always told she would have a word or they couldn't get the staff!
Imagine if this was your mum dad, brother/sister. No one should have to go through this! He wasn't being cleaned or showered properly. We had to do this on several occasions, these are basic needs and they couldn't get that right! I could go on but it is a short review.

Mum stayed at the care home for respite care. She settled well, and all her needs were addressed and taken care of - nothing was too much trouble for the staff.
Throughout her stay, she voiced how kind and helpful everybody was.
As a family, we felt that the care she received was excellent; there
was always a nurse/carer in attendance whenever needed.
The room she was allocated had access to the outdoor area, where she sat when the weather was good; this enhanced her stay.
Mum used the services available hairdresser and podiatry and was pleased with the attention given.

My mum has been at the care home since 23rd September 2021. During that time she has had unbelievable care from all the very lovely staff. I have visited her once, as I do not live locally, and she is much better in herself and happier than she was previously which is very reassuring. My sister lives
locally and she visits 2 to 3 times a week and she is very happy with how my mum is and all the staff could not do anymore. They are very kind and empathetic. I would highly recommend the care home.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.419)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.419) out of 10 for Burscough Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.606 for Burscough Manor is calculated as follows: ( (159 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (12 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 188 Ratings = 4.606
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.813 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Burscough Manor is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16. 15 Positive Reviews ÷ 16 = 0.938
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
