This is my second review of this home in the space of a few months. Our family has had such wonderful care that I feel I need to say this in public! Both my parents are in Woodland View Lodge and have had a tough couple of weeks with their health (physical and mental). Throughout that time, day and
night, every single one of the staff have supported our family medically, practically and emotionally. They have treated my mum and dad with unfailing respect and love - and gentle humour where appropriate - and their care for me, as an exhausted and worried daughter, has meant more to me that I can ever explain. Never in my most hopeful dreams did I think a care home could be such a lifesaver and a "sanity saver". WVL is both of those things, and the care is given with such a lightness of touch, such grace and such genuine love for residents that it almost overwhelms me. I cannot praise WVL and its staff highly enough. Thank you WVL!

After viewing many care homes, Woodland View Lodge provided everything to meet my Mum''s needs and she immediately felt "at home". The facilities and staff are exceptional and I know she is being well cared for, nothing is too much trouble. The food is freshly cooked and the home is always
very clean. My Mum enjoys the activities and the residents' birthdays are celebrated, including wonderful cakes baked by the chef! My Mum is so happy at Woodland View Lodge and I no longer have to worry.

Woodland View Lodge is amazing. We were recommended it after mum had to go into hospital. As soon as we arrived we felt at home and really safe. The staff are absolutely fabulous, all really friendly and caring - they really do go above and beyond. The rooms and facilities are great and everything is
kept spotlessly clean. Hairdresser and laundry are included in the cost and the cost of care in the Lodge is well worth the money. Mum has never eaten so well!

Family member was one of the 1st to stay here. She found the transition easy as staff are all amazing. They treat the residents with care + respect and above all dignity. She is very happy here. She's taken on outings, the shops etc. The staff in my opinion, are exceptional. Would highly recommend this
home.

Mum moved to this care home after a year in another one, she is really starting to feel at home here unlike the other care home. The staff are attentive, kind and unhurried and friendly. We hope the attention to detail will continue as the home fill towards capacity.

One day after hip replacement surgery I came to Woodland View Lodge for two weeks' convalescence and recuperation. The care and attention I received was first class every member of staff was kind and helpful and I felt safe and in good hands. After two weeks I walked out with confidence ready to start
a normal life again. I would not hesitate to recommend it to those seeing the very best in care homes, Woodlands View Lodge is a shinning example of the real meaning of 'care'

Woodland View Lodge (WVL) is absolutely exemplary in its care of Mum. 'Care' being the operative word. The entire team, in no particular order - management, reception, maintenance, carers, cleaners and chef - are all actively engaged in making a difference to people's lives. Nothing seems to be too
much trouble and no detail is too small for them to be bothered with. Moving Mum to WVL has been a reassertion of her independence and dignity and not a loss of it. Finding the right care home was challenging and overwhelming at times. But the day we walked into WVL changed my view of care and considerably increased my mums quality of life. I hope that if you are considering a care option for yourself or someone in your care, you will drop by and see for yourself the exceptional team at work here. I feel certain that you won't need to look any further. I can honestly say that this is the most relaxed I've felt about mums well being for a very long time.
Reply from Michele Baxendale-Nichols, General Manager at Woodland View LodgeThank you so much for your wonderful review. We're truly grateful for your kind words about our team and the care we provide. It means a great deal to know that your mum's independence, dignity, and quality of life have grown since joining us. We understand how important choosing the right home is, and we're honoured that you feel so at ease with her wellbeing. Thank you for your trust and for recommending Woodland View Lodge. We're proud to care for your mum

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.797)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.797) out of 10 for Woodland View Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.987 for Woodland View Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (153 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 155 Ratings = 4.987
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.81 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodland View Lodge is based on 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.825
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2. 13 Positive Reviews ÷ 13.2 = 0.985
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

My name is Selina, and I am the Customer Relationship Manager at Woodland View Lodge Care Home. My role is to support and guide individuals and families from the moment they enquire, helping them navigate what can be one of the most difficult decisions, choosing the right care for themselves or a loved one.

I changed my career in 2011 following my father-in-law’s diagnosis of Lewy Body Dementia, an experience that inspired me to work within the care sector. Since then, I have dedicated my career to supporting others, with a particular passion for dementia care. I have previously worked for the Alzheimer’s Society and ran a local Dementia Action Alliance within the community.

Outside of work, I am a proud mum to my son Oliver and a dog owner to two energetic fur babies, Barney & Gizmo, so my spare time is spent either being a taxi driver or enjoying long dog walks.

I look forward to welcoming you to Woodland View Lodge and supporting you every step of your journey with us.
