One day after hip replacement surgery I came to Woodland View Lodge for two weeks' convalescence and recuperation. The care and attention I received was first class every member of staff was kind and helpful and I felt safe and in good hands. After two weeks I walked out with confidence ready to start
a normal life again. I would not hesitate to recommend it to those seeing the very best in care homes, Woodlands View Lodge is a shinning example of the real meaning of 'care'

When I have visited my mum I have always found my mother being chatted to by at least one of the carers which she enjoys because we lived in the middle of nowhere and as such she very rarely got to chat with other ladies which left her feeling isolated.

Now she has been in the home for just over

a week she already feels completely settled in and at home as her room is dressed with her ornaments, pictures and her memories. I am surprised how seamlessly she has adopted the care home as her home and she says she is so happy as she can go out on activities and be around people.

Woodland View Lodge (WVL) is absolutely exemplary in its care of Mum. 'Care' being the operative word. The entire team, in no particular order - management, reception, maintenance, carers, cleaners and chef - are all actively engaged in making a difference to people's lives. Nothing seems to be too
much trouble and no detail is too small for them to be bothered with. Moving Mum to WVL has been a reassertion of her independence and dignity and not a loss of it. Finding the right care home was challenging and overwhelming at times. But the day we walked into WVL changed my view of care and considerably increased my mums quality of life. I hope that if you are considering a care option for yourself or someone in your care, you will drop by and see for yourself the exceptional team at work here. I feel certain that you won't need to look any further. I can honestly say that this is the most relaxed I've felt about mums well being for a very long time.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.477)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.477) out of 10 for Woodland View Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.5 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 5.000 for Woodland View Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (36 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 5
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.477 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodland View Lodge is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 13.2 = 0.227
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

With over 35 years in nursing and healthcare leadership, I’ve built a career grounded in compassion, clinical excellence, and strategic impact. From frontline care to the boardroom, I’ve led with purpose—shaping services, standards, and people.

As Head of Nursing and Midwifery at MSI Reproductive Choices UK, I worked across 60+ clinics, ensuring quality reproductive healthcare for 70,000+ people annually, in close collaboration with the CQC. My earlier roles span Clinical Director, General Manager, and Head of Clinical Excellence across major providers including Barchester Healthcare, Majesticare, and Health and Social Care Services, where I focused on complex care delivery and service transformation.

A former NHS and care home board member, I bring a strategic lens to every role, while staying grounded in what truly matters: empowering people to thrive. I’m a trained executive coach and hold a Master’s in Healthcare Leadership and Management.

Outside work, you’ll find me surfing or wild camping on Dartmoor with my family and our much-loved dog—because recharging in nature keeps my passion for people burning strong!

With over 30 years of experience in the legal profession, I’ve built a career rooted in precision, empathy, and leadership. My primary expertise lies in Probate, where I’ve managed matters involving Deceased Estates, Wills, LPAs, the Court of Protection, dementia-related cases, and Personal Injury settlements. Over the years, I progressed to the role of PA/Paralegal and led a busy team of 20, ensuring smooth operations and high standards of client care.

Outside of work, I’m an avid walker and enjoy exploring Dartmoor year-round with my energetic Belgian Malinois. I also have a creative side and spend time drawing when inspiration strikes. I love meeting new people and learning from different perspectives, but I also value quiet moments—especially with a good film to unwind.

I have always believed that the heart of support lies not only in the expertise we bring, but in the humanity we share. In my work, I have found that the most powerful transformations occur not in grand gestures, but in the quiet, consistent presence that communicates, “You are seen. You are heard. You matter.” This belief has shaped my approach—one that values partnership, empathy, and the courage to grow alongside those I serve.

With over 46 years in nursing and Social care, I have laid foundation stones of which I have built on.

Possessing a genuine curiosity about people’s unique stories, I approach each day with compassion and a readiness to listen. My background weaves together hands-on experience with a keen understanding of the nuances within care and support, shaped by years of dedication in diverse settings. I believe that meaningful connection begins with respect, patience, and the willingness to adapt in the face of changing circumstances.

Throughout my career, I have dedicated myself to supporting individuals across a spectrum of needs, striving to foster environments where everyone feels valued and empowered. My professional journey has been shaped by a deep commitment to person-centred care, always seeking new ways to enhance quality of life and promote independence.

The personal and professional challenges I have faced have only deepened my empathy and resilience. I have mentored countless colleagues, encouraging growth and confidence in those entering the field. Remaining active in community initiatives, I have advocated for holistic approaches to health, recognising the essential role of emotional and social wellbeing. These experiences have enriched my perspective, allowing me to offer compassionate guidance to both patients and their families, and to find meaning and connection in every interaction.

Outside work, I’m usually gardening or spending time with my grandchildren. Walking an English Cocker Spaniel in the woods and along the beach is a regular activity. Gardening is a frequent pastime that provides opportunities for reflection and time to read outdoors.
