Rhea Panou

Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 2025

Rhea joined Mysa Care in October, stepping into her first role as a Registered Manager within our specialist mental health and complex needs services. She began her career in mental health in 2011 after completing a BSc in Psychology, starting as a Support Worker before qualifying as a Registered Mental Health Nurse in 2017.

With extensive experience across Berkshire, Surrey, and London, Rhea has worked in a range of clinical environments, including specialist forensic inpatient services. Her passion for high-quality, person-centred care and her commitment to reducing behaviours that may challenge led her to a national therapeutic unit, where she progressed from Deputy Manager to Service Lead. There, she guided a team delivering psychological interventions designed to reduce harm, improve wellbeing, and promote long-term recovery.

Rhea later managed a mental health service within a London remand prison, where her leadership helped overturn a CQC notice of improvement—demonstrating her strong focus on service quality, governance, and safe, effective care.

Following her transition out of frontline nursing, Rhea wanted to bring together her clinical expertise, leadership experience, and passion for compassionate support in a role where she could make a tangible difference. She is deeply committed to delivering specialist support for people with complex autism, learning disabilities, and mental health needs within a nurturing, empowering environment.

Rhea brings empathy, clinical insight, and a strong dedication to helping individuals lead meaningful, fulfilling lives through high-quality, person-centred care.

Maria Afzal

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2025

Maria began her career in social care in 2019 when she joined ESP as a part-time Support Worker. What started as a way to supplement her income quickly became a genuine passion, leading her to build extensive experience across specialist mental health care, learning disability support, and complex needs services. She has supported individuals with a wide range of needs, including people with severe mental health conditions and those requiring structured, person-centred residential care.

Before joining Mysa Care, Maria developed strong leadership skills as a Home Manager, overseeing five residential units. Much of her experience has involved supporting residential services for children and young people, with additional insight gained through roles in domiciliary care. She is dedicated to helping individuals achieve meaningful life goals—from developing independence and daily living skills to building relationships and gaining financial confidence.

Earlier in her career, Maria worked in financial services, including roles with Aetna as a Senior Customer Consultant and Vitesse as a Solutions Analyst. Although successful, she realised her true calling was within care, where she could make a direct, positive impact on the lives of others.

Maria joined Mysa Care in March as a Night Support Worker and quickly demonstrated her capability, compassion, and strong work ethic. By May, she progressed into the Deputy Manager role. She brings energy, empathy, and a clear commitment to supporting individuals with mental health needs, learning disabilities, and complex autism to live happy, independent, and fulfilling lives.
