Overall Experience

From my first conversation with the Manager, Clare, I felt Riverdale Manor was a very special place. Our visit as a family confirmed this. The purpose built home is beautiful, but it is the kindness, warmth and compassion of the staff that make it exceptional.

As Dad's dementia has progressed, he has become anxious and withdrawn, so I was worried about how he would settle. The staff have taken the time to know him as an individual. They are genuinely interested in his life story, the person he was and the person he still is, even when the dementia cloud descends.

Dad is well cared for, well nourished and becoming more engaged again. Knowing he is in such caring hands has given our family real peace of mind. We would wholeheartedly recommend Riverdale Manor to anyone seeking exceptional, person centred care.

Overall Experience
My Mum has recently been into Riverdale for two separate weeks of respite, both of which have been wonderful experiences for her. Having lived at home for the past three years with my husband and I, she has always been reticent about leaving our home for any length of time. Meeting Clare for the first time, I immediately knew that this was an environment where she would be cared for and more importantly enjoy! Both Clare and the team are so welcoming, caring and compassionate. As well as possessing the qualities you look for in a care environment, they are also so cheerful; there is an atmosphere there that immediately lifts the spirits!

Although Mum has dementia, she tells me each time I have collected her just how "lovely" everyone is and how "they can't do enough for her". It makes our holiday breaks much more enjoyable and I can relax knowing that she is in good hands, also that she will definitely have a good time! Thank you Clare and your wonderful team!

I moved my mum to Riverdale Manor at the end of May 2026. She previously was at a care home in the south of England, so a big decision to make. From my first visit to Riverdale, I was fully supported with the transition and became very excited about having mum nearby.
The home is very welcoming. It has beautiful bedrooms and lovely communal areas.
Before coming to Riverdale, mum was frail, slept most of the day and didn't join in with any activities. She had lost a lot of weight and generally was quite unhappy. I thought this was just part of her dementia journey. Since arriving, she is a different lady. She sleeps all night, joins in with activities and is eating a healthy diet, showing she is happy and relaxed. This is due to the amazing staff, they are so kind, treating mum with dignity, patience and respect. They encourage her to join in with activities, which is varied and planned around the interests of the residents.

I strongly recommend Riverdale Manor.

I moved my wife into this care home two weeks ago. She suffers from PCA (posterior cortical atrophy) and needs a lot of help with all her daily needs. The staff have been most welcoming and totally professional.

Her room is lovely and looks out onto a lawn. The public lounge is spacious and there are doors out onto a terrace and lawn. Of special note is the excellent food, with plenty of vegetables and fresh fruit. After previous mixed experiences with care for my wife, I feel I have real piece of mind that my wife is truly being cared for.

Thinking of moving a relative into Riverdale Manor?
My advice would be do it!
My mum was settled in a " care" home down south, but something didn't feel right. She is living with dementia, so would moving her be fair? A real dilemma.
Enter Clare and the team at Riverdale.
A chance visit and tour around the lovely new facility, a glimpse into Clare's philosophy on caring for our loved ones , made the challenge seem more realistic.
Constant support and communication made the logistics of moving more manageable but tbh it was still nerve wracking.
Now 3 weeks in, what was I worried about!
The team have been fantastic, totally supportive, attentive and caring all driven by Clare's compassionate professionalism, mum has been in the best possible hands.
The most heart warming thing though is mum looks a little better, so difficult to define but so incredible to see.

Thank you all at Riverdale: Clare, carers, admin, caterers, housekeepers, ents and maintenance. True team of caring people.

I visited Riverdale Manor seeking residential care for my mother, having seen a number of other settings, and I knew from that first visit that she would be exceptionally well cared for.

It was a big step for Mum as she had lived independently but following a number of falls, was no longer safe on her own.

Mum has been a resident now for nearly a month and she is very happy and comfortable. The whole team have made sure that her needs were met from the first day. They took time to learn about her before she arrived meaning that Mum felt instantly at home.

Mum is reassured that she doesn't have to worry about waiting for help, which had been a problem previously. The team are extremely attentive and patient.

Riverdale Manor really feels like home, family and friends are equally welcomed.

What makes it truly special is that I no longer have to worry about Mum and her safety. I know she's being cared for as if she was family by the entire team at Riverdale Manor.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review of our care home. Mum I know was apprehensive about moving to a new care environment and the team have worked very hard to ensure she feels listened to and respected and used gentle reassurance to give comfort. It is lovely to see her settling so well...

When Dad wasn't able to return home after a spell in hospital we visited a number of care homes. None of them felt like a good fit until we walked through the doors of the wonderful Riverdale Manor. Riverdale Manor is a beautifully decorated, purpose built home which is spotlessly clean, spacious and comfortable. More importantly the manager and staff are excellent Every member of staff I have met has been professional and caring and have treated dad with patience, dignity and a sense of humour. Communication is good and as family we are included in decisions being made about Dad's care. The care offered to him is second to none. The transformation in him in just a few weeks is remarkable. They have got him up on his feet, lifted his spirits and got him engaging in activities. We can rest easy knowing that he is being well looked after. There is always a warm welcome when we visit and staff show us genuine care too. I couldn't recommend Riverdale Manor more highly.
