I feel this is an excellent care home-I looked round multiple homes and was struck by the fact that the residents looked secure and content and the staff were not stressed. The staff are very skilled, person centred and handle challenging behaviour from residents protecting their dignity and quickly
diffusing with kindness. They have been amazing with my mum in the dementia unit-for the first time in so long my mum has enjoyed herself and been happy doing activities and chatting to staff! Staff are persistent with GPs in getting residents looked at and very aware in changes of behaviour or any symptoms that need to be addressed. They are patient, friendly and empathetic to the residents and families, I have visited all hours and the care is always great. The home itself is lovely but its the staff who make it so wonderful, I am so grateful to them for looking after my mum and making her smile again.

We are really pleased with the care my uncle is receiving in Merlin Manor. The building and resident rooms/bathrooms are spotless. The care delivered is exceptional, my uncle is really pleased with the staff, they are lovely, nothing is too much trouble. Probably one of the nicest care homes I've visited
(I'm a retired social worker), everything is 100%!

My mother in law's care in her last few months at Middleton Manor before my wife made the decision to find her mum a more suitable home was unacceptable.
My wife was keeping her mum at this care home in hope it would sort through it's major issues but after months of being patient it was getting much
worse. Making sure that the correct people are looking after our most vulnerable people should be priority. Anyone who is reading this will know putting your nearest and dearest into care is one of the hardest decisions to make and when you feel your unable to come home and be happy that the care is to an acceptable level then something is very wrong. But my advice would be to find another care home because the difference has been outstanding.

Issues began with a high turnover of regular staff. Sometimes staff talking among themselves whilst jobs need to be done.
Food doesn't really meet mams needs, she has a bland diet, but for the money she is paying for the good is appalling, most times its cold and repetitive. Some of the carers give
mam her drink but they give it too fast, so it spills down her chin sometimes the bed us half down when feeding. When mam falls they don't get picked up straight away, sometimes they say she slipped when she fell.
Those of the staff are friendly and happy to see you.

My mother spent her final months of her life at Middleton Manor (17 months). During her last days the home provided mam with the utmost care and welcomed and facilitated our family whilst visiting. The staff were no less than amazing. The new management have improved the general running and functioning
of the facility no end and the current team are the most caring set of people we as a family could ever of wished for.

My sister was a resident at this care home for just over two years, we were told it was a general nursing unit which was what she needed.
The unit started to slowly get more residents, but mostly EMI residents who could be quite troublesome and my sister is bed bound unable to defend herself, however
she coped with the situation very well.
Eventually she was moved to a completely different section of the building as we were told general nursing should not be mixed with EMI residents. We didn't want her to move to become isolated which is what happened. Then old management left.
This is when the real problems started and it became extremely worrying, my sister wasn't getting proper nursing care at all. Medication errors/delays. Lack of any care compassion and understanding resulting in my sister becoming very unwell. Lack of strong leadership.
My sisters last few months in this care home and the things we have witnessed has been utterly shocking.

While most of the carers are 'caring and professional' in their daily duties, some are not and seem to show no interest in the personal needs of residents.
Management are less than adequate when approached with issued and only offer a verbal apology with no real results in action. Do they have "quality"
polices in place?

Very poor, some carers wonderful but others not trained and couldn't care less. Many complaints made but things just get repeated like left to mess beds because carers "too busy" awful meals, having to wait ages for a drink, hoist breaking down mid lift to toilet, poor hygiene from some staff who "don't
do gloves" the list goes on.

From the moment that he was admitted to Sandbanks, he was treated with care, compassion and dignity. The staff on the floor where he was cared for always went above their duties to help and this applies to the management team aswell. We were always kept in the loop as to the care and condition and when
he passed away his passing was in comfort and dignity. A wonderful place with wonderful staff.

Since my mother-in-law became a resident at Merlin Manor I have always been very happy with her care. All members of staff have treat her with dignity and respect. Everything we have asked for has been given. Especially if we have had a special occasion e.g. this week our family was here from a different
part of the country and a table was set out specially for us to have lunch with her. It was great. The manager gives her all to residents and families. 10/10.
