We are really pleased with the care my uncle is receiving in Merlin Manor. The building and resident rooms/bathrooms are spotless. The care delivered is exceptional, my uncle is really pleased with the staff, they are lovely, nothing is too much trouble. Probably one of the nicest care homes I've visited

My mother has been in Merlin Manor since January 2023. She passed on25th March 2025. I can't fault the staff. She has been cared for with love, dignity + respect. The staff couldn't do enough for her and us as a family making mums last day as easy as possible.

Since my mother-in-law became a resident at Merlin Manor I have always been very happy with her care. All members of staff have treat her with dignity and respect. Everything we have asked for has been given. Especially if we have had a special occasion e.g. this week our family was here from a different
part of the country and a table was set out specially for us to have lunch with her. It was great. The manager gives her all to residents and families. 10/10.

I was a little unsure what to expect when Mam moved to Merlin Manor but I have to say she is so happy and well cared for. She stays in her room a lot and it is so cosy with lots of her own belongings around her. It is very clean and bright and the staff are very good and make sure she has everything
she needs.

My mam is very well cared for, the staff are kind and welcoming, they know what my mam likes and dislikes and they spend time with her chatting and signing.

I cannot write a review which exemplifies the dedication and pure resilience of the management team at Merlin Manor that have fought for my mam for over a month to receive the care she needs. I could never thank them enough for everything they have done, not only for her but the emotional support and
excellent communication they have demonstrated to me and my family. Thank you also to the love, care and dedication of staff - don't know if I can name names but they know who they are. You have taken my mam into your family and love her like she is your own mam. I will never be able to thank you all enough.

I visted a family friend and the atmosphere was amazing. The staff were all in good spirits which echoes through the home.
The home is immaculate and has a high standard, management welcoming and the door is always open. The residents all seem happy and are very well-kept. My visit was very pleasant
and enjoyable. Good example of how a care home should be.

Mam was admitted as an emergency rehab placement and is now a permanent resident. She has settled in really well, is happy, content and well cared for by the staff at Merlin Manor who are all very caring, professional and polite. Mum's room is always clean and tidy. She loves to join in the activities
that are really well organised. Keep up the good hard work team Merlin.

My visits to Merlin Manor are always a pleasure. My aunty is well looked after. Her needs and dignity are always taken into account. She is well looked after, her family are always greeted warmly and professionally. The home is well kept and well managed.

Came today to visit Dad after he was brought back from hospital following having a stroke. Spoke to the senior care assistant who was very pleasant and informative. Also spoke to her earlier in the week and again found her to be very informative and caring. Sorry for using names but she has been the
best member of staff that we have had to speak to regarding dad and seems to have full understanding of his needs and how to care for him.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

I left School in 2005 and started Hartlepool College of Further Education, I was studying BTEC 1st Diploma in Caring and then went on to study for the BTEC National Diploma in Health. I started my career at the age of 17, I started working as an Out of Hours Medical Receptionist for Northern Doctors Urgent Care, Whilst I was studying at Teesside University doing Adult Nursing, unfortunately, after 2 years due to ill health, I could not finish my Nursing degree. However, I was awarded with a Higher Education Certificate in Health and Social Care. I then started working for Carewatch as a Carer home care. It was from a very young age that I knew whatever path I chose it would be Care, I always knew that helping others gave me great satisfaction.


I worked at Carewatch for one year. After Carewatch I got the post of Senior Carer at Lindisfarne Care Home, I worked at Lindisfarne for 8 years, I felt I learnt a lot whilst working at Lindisfarne and knew that I had found a job that I love and enjoy, I was always wanting to learn more and climb the ladder, I then went on to study the Level 5 Leadership and Management in Adult Care Diploma and whilst doing so I was offered the Deputy Managers Position at Lindisfarne, I worked as Deputy Manager and Acting Manager June 2021 to February 2022 this was a great achievement for me, I felt all my hard work was finally paying off.


I love working in care and making a difference. In February 2022 I decided to seek other employment and went on to work as a Senior Support Worker with Voyage Care in Hartlepool, I thoroughly enjoyed my role but always felt something was missing. I then applied for the role of Deputy Manager at Merlin Manor Care Centre to which I was successful, I am extremely excited to be working for such an amazing company that strives to provide person-centred care but also supports its staff.


I am looking forward to progressing my career within Prestige and Merlin Manor and feel that I am learning lots of new information, I am extremely grateful that I can make a difference in someone’s life, I believe this is so important and so valuable. I work in care because I care, every day is different, and every day is rewarding.

I have worked in the care sector for over 35 years and started my path to care as a housekeeper and then felt that I would make a caring care assistant as I enjoyed the interaction I got when I was a housekeeper and always wanted to do more for the residents so that started my journey to care.


I always said that by the time I was 40 years, I would like to be a manager as I was a single parent I could not commit to the job role of a manager until my youngest son left school, and lucky enough I was already a Deputy in a care home in Easington Colliery for 5 years, my son then left school and I then became the manager of Ashwood Park.


I have managed care homes for 25 years now. These have been Nursing homes, Residential homes with Dementia.


Each home has been different but very rewarding and at times challenging.
