The first time I went to view Awelon Care Home, I instinctively knew I had found the right place for my son. There is a lovely atmosphere, lots of space, home cooked meals and very warm and friendly. The care and attention he has received since being at Awelon is exceptional. The staff have taken the
time to get to know my son, what his likes and dislikes are and not just his physical needs, making him feel comfortable, welcome and loved. Daily activities are carefully planned around my son's needs. My son has complex needs but with the professional trained staff have addressed each issue as it arises with professionalism and a warm, caring attitude, they have treated him with dignity and respect at all times. The staff are wonderful and so helpful, I cannot thank them enough for the way they looked after my son, keeping me updated each week of daily activities with pictures, he always has a big smile in each picture. I would highly recommend.

Not a good home to go to, avoid this home at all costs - can't go into detail but in the middle of legal action against the company due to my time there.
Staff turnover is very poor, they have been losing a lot of staff due to the owner of the company, the staffing levels are also very inconsistent.
The
owner of the company interferes with the care side a lot, overrides manager decisions and care plans, and makes changes without any knowledge of the resident. The manager is left unable to do their job.
If they don't want you there anymore, they'll take you to A&E with belongings and leave you at A&E in Cardiff.
Extremely unsuitable for people with mobility problems and/or in a wheelchair.
They have an upstairs room with a lift up to it but the company has no wheelchair accessible vehicle which forces you, as the resident, to stay indoors the majority of the time and the staff refuse to push wheelchairs around the local area and outside the local area.
Bedrooms are cleaned irregularly.
