Alton Place

I visit a resident here at the home weekly and i must say how friendly everyone is its a very inviting and warm friendly home. Megan Wade always makes the effort to check in and ask if we need anything and just stops for a chat which i personally think is extremely important. Always love visiting here and speak highly of this wonderful home to my other friends & family.

My 93 year old mother went in on a 2-week trial stay. From the start the staff could not have been more helpful and welcoming, they really made her stay special. It's a lovely care home, beautifully furnished with super airy bedrooms, activity and rest rooms. The food I understand was excellent. The bedrooms have walk-in showers which is very useful but it was particularly nice to have the option of a bath for a change. It's nicely situated near a handy 'park' area and walk across the road to a pleasant quiet road alongside trees and nature so it's nice to visit and stroll locally for fresh air. Without exception all the staff were really friendly, professional and ready to help. A particular draw to this care home is Millie and her twice daily activities such as painting, a visiting singer or animal, games, quizzes etc. It feels like everyone is part of a family there and my mother was sad to leave.

The staff are so helpful and welcoming. There are lots of activities for the residents and the food is nice. Rooms are lovely and spacious and lovely wide corridors. Theres a cinema and a hairdressers/salon. Lots of options for sitting outside the rooms during the day and things to occupy them if there is no entertainment available. Quite busy views of the park opposite and the Watercress Line Train too!

My nan has been staying at this care home, and I honestly can't thank the staff enough for the care they provide. Everyone is so kind, patient, and genuinely attentive - it really shows that they care about the residents as individuals. The home is always clean, welcoming, and has a lovely atmosphere. The staff keep families updated and go the extra mile to make sure residents are comfortable, safe, and happy. It gives me real peace of mind knowing my nan is in such good hands. I would highly recommend this care home to anyone looking for a place where their loved ones will be truly cared for.

My mum went to stay in Alton Place initially for respite care, but when the time came for her to go back to her own home, she preferred stay. Alton Place, to us, seems a shining example of how a home for people requiring care should be. The whole place is full of laughter, activity and also quiet times when preferred. The rooms are spacious and the house management team were happy to help make Mum's room feel her own with personal pictures and cherished items. The activity agenda is so varied, covering all sorts of things Mum hasn't done for years( if ever !). But along with the scheduled activities, there is an amazing spontaneity to events too, for example just getting in the van and going to look at the Christmas lights or doing the latest dance trend for the social media page. We couldn't be more happy with our choice of residence for our lovely Mum and feel blessed we found Alton Place.

What an amazing care home, its like entering a five star hotel...When we arrived from hospital with Mum (after A four week hospital stay for a full shoulder shoulder replacement) we were greeted by a lovely young lady with a beautiful smile for us all and an extra smile for Mum. We immediately new that Mum would be happy here and a week in we were not wrong. All the staff are highly trained and attend to Mums every needs. Its so refreshing to meet so many people that are still smiling and offering support to residents and visitors at the end of a long day. The Home is fully kitted out for all the support that anyone might need plus extras, there is an extensive menu for the residents that is prepared in-house by an amazing Chef...his cakes are the best we have ever eaten....yes Visitors can have a cuppa and cake too... Gurmeet the Home Manage and Lucy make the home complete these two Ladies are as dedicated as they come. When I leave Mum after a visit I know she is Safe and Happy.

If you are looking for a care home for a loved one, I could not recommend Alton Place enough.

Alton Place has truly been a wonderful choice for my Dad, and I'm so glad we decided to bring him here. He absolutely loves the daily activities, which keep him engaged, active, and happy. The entertainers who visit are a real highlight.

What really sets Alton Place apart, though, is the staff. Every single person is so caring, kind, and attentive, and it gives me real peace of mind knowing my Dad is surrounded by people who genuinely care about his well-being. It feels warm, welcoming, and supportive-more like a community than a facility. I couldn't be happier with our experience at Alton Place, and neither could it Dad.

I cannot be there by her side all the time and fortunately the amazing staff have in effect "covered" for me.

Choosing Alton Place for Mum was a big leap of faith in a brand new space and the management. As we were the first resident in the door we weren't able to see what day to day life would look like. All the management staff were kind and took time connect genuinely with mum, and have been dedicated to building a sense of community from the get go. Any worries on my behalf quickly dissipated. They proactively reviewed medication with the doctor, thinking about mums needs and wants. They quickly sorted the district nurse which I had been struggling to achieve in the community for a long time. All the carers have been so kind they have formed a great team all with different strengths. Choosing a care home is a difficult and very weighted decision and so I am very grateful for the people at Alton Place, and all the effort, kindness and connection shown to my mum every day.

Alton Place's greatest asset is its staff. Without exception they are compassionate, patient, hardworking, dependable and fun. They could not do more to cater for the residents' needs, always with good humour.

There is a varied programme of daily activities, many of which are open to family, friends and sometimes the wider public. Outings in the adapted minibus are undertaken to local places of interest or maybe just to a suitable shop or cafe. Everything possible is done to keep the residents mentally and physically active and engaged, though quieter sessions are also planned for reminiscing, creative activities, etc.

The furnishings, decor and layout are bright, stylish and spacious. There are frequent film shows in the purpose built cinema, complete with popcorn and pamper sessions in the hair/nail salon.

The menu choices sometimes seems a little inappropriate for older residents, but this is a work in progress and can be adapted according to popularity.
