Alton Place has truly been a wonderful choice for my Dad, and I'm so glad we decided to bring him here. He absolutely loves the daily activities, which keep him engaged, active, and happy. The entertainers who visit are a real highlight.

What really sets Alton Place apart, though, is the staff. Every

single person is so caring, kind, and attentive, and it gives me real peace of mind knowing my Dad is surrounded by people who genuinely care about his well-being. It feels warm, welcoming, and supportive-more like a community than a facility. I couldn't be happier with our experience at Alton Place, and neither could it Dad.

Since our very first visit to Alton Place we knew mum would be happy here. The staff are amazing, they are always smiling and go above and beyond to make sure everyone is happy. Prior to moving to Alton Place mum wasn't able to go out very much but since moving she has been out on numerous outings and
takes part in a variety of activities, many of which are open to families and friends too. The care home has different areas that mum can enjoy such as the cafe and cinema room.
If you are looking for a care home for a loved one, I could not recommend Alton Place enough.

Further to my previous review this week one of my old couple passed away and left his wife all alone after more than 60 years of marriage. The staff have been so good to her that you would not realise that he is gone.
Further since they were in adjoining rooms she asked to be moved as she kept expecting
her husband to come through the adjoining door. The staff moved her within one hour after my request on her behalf.
I cannot be there by her side all the time and fortunately the amazing staff have in effect "covered" for me.

Choosing Alton Place for Mum was a big leap of faith in a brand new space and the management. As we were the first resident in the door we weren't able to see what day to day life would look like. All the management staff were kind and took time connect genuinely with mum, and have been dedicated to
building a sense of community from the get go. Any worries on my behalf quickly dissipated. They proactively reviewed medication with the doctor, thinking about mums needs and wants. They quickly sorted the district nurse which I had been struggling to achieve in the community for a long time. All the carers have been so kind they have formed a great team all with different strengths. Choosing a care home is a difficult and very weighted decision and so I am very grateful for the people at Alton Place, and all the effort, kindness and connection shown to my mum every day.

Alton Place's greatest asset is its staff. Without exception they are compassionate, patient, hardworking, dependable and fun. They could not do more to cater for the residents' needs, always with good humour.

There is a varied programme of daily activities, many of which are open to family,

friends and sometimes the wider public. Outings in the adapted minibus are undertaken to local places of interest or maybe just to a suitable shop or cafe. Everything possible is done to keep the residents mentally and physically active and engaged, though quieter sessions are also planned for reminiscing, creative activities, etc.

The furnishings, decor and layout are bright, stylish and spacious. There are frequent film shows in the purpose built cinema, complete with popcorn and pamper sessions in the hair/nail salon.

The menu choices sometimes seems a little inappropriate for older residents, but this is a work in progress and can be adapted according to popularity.

Reply from Lindsay Mahoney, Hospitality & Wellbeing Manager at Alton PlaceThank you for taking the time to write this review. It is wonderful to hear how happy you are with the facilities at Alton Place, along with the wonderful team. We are also pleased to know that the activities on offer cater to all, whether that be trips out in to the community or quieter moments and friends and family also enjoy joining in. When planning the menus, feedback is gained from residents and families and residents choice in incorporated into the menu planning. Should the days menu not suit the chefs will always be happy to prepare an alternative. Once again, thank you for your kids words which will be passed on to the team at Alton Place.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.756)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.756) out of 10 for Alton Place is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.883 for Alton Place is calculated as follows: ( (54 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.883
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.873 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Alton Place is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 67 registered maximum number of service users is 13.4. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 13.4 = 0.373
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
