The Balmoral Care Home is a state-of-the-art luxury facility in Glasgow, featuring 69 beds. The dedicated and knowledgeable staff provide round-the-clock nursing care, customised to meet the individual support needs and preferences of each resident.

Each of the 69 well-appointed bedroom suites are equipped with hospitality and turn-down services, an optional newspaper delivery, and passive alarm sensors. These suites are designed to the highest standards, featuring spacious en-suites, small double beds, telephone access, call bells, high-speed wireless internet, and Sky TV connection points.

The interiors are characterised by elegance, offering a fresh, spacious atmosphere filled with natural light. Communal areas include lounge and dining rooms, a brasserie with access to a rooftop balcony, a private dining room, a cocktail bar, a hair and beauty salon, and a fully equipped cinema.

Outside, Balmoral provides residents with beautiful outdoor spaces to enjoy, including a relaxing terrace, a walking circuit, and a greenhouse for gardening activities.

A vibrant schedule of activities and entertainment is available, featuring options such as flower arranging, yoga, and language classes. I am very pleased I chose the Balmoral nursing home for my Mum. The staff are so friendly, caring kind and thoughtful. The surroundings in the home are nothing short of five star. My mum loves the activities they put on and I am reassured she is well cared for at this vulnerable time of her like.
It's heart warming to see her so happy.

Putting our Mum into care was never going to happen, however, her Alzheimer's worsened and we could no longer keep her safe at home. It's been a rocky road for her as she had lived in the same home for 56 years and couldn't understand where she was. The nursing staff, the carers and the hospitality
team have all been so caring to her and make her feel safe and welcome in her new environment. The home is spotless and the bedrooms and communal areas are so inviting, and the garden is a huge bonus with many activities going on with our warmer weather. Communication from the nurses has been a huge positive for us on Mums more challenging days, they always welcome us and give us up to date reports either when visiting or a phone call. Mum recently suffered a TIA stroke, we had a call to tell us what was happening, they called an ambulance and sent a carer with her in the ambulance to stay with her until we could get to the hospital. We recommend The Balmoral 100%

I've been so impressed with every aspect of Balmoral. Every member of staff has been so welcoming and friendly, even those who don't know us.
I'd dreaded a time where we'd have to 'put Dad into a care home' but this doesn't feel like that at all. It's more like a 5* hotel & an opportunity for him to
live a far better life in beautiful surroundings with all the care he needs.
He regularly tells us how incredible it is - the staff, the food (he can even choose how brown he wants his toast!), and how spotless his room is.
We had concerns about an unwanted visitor, but the staff explained their process and handled it perfectly.
Dad hasn't taken part in activities but the schedule looks great. I'm still giving that a 5* rating as him not taking part is no reflection on the offerings.
The care has been amazing, and any health concerns we've raised have been dealt with immediately. Staff include Dad in every conversation and decision. I'm so thankful to have found you for him. Thank you!

From the minute we entered the building we were happy with what we saw + experienced. A nice family atmosphere. Spotless, sweet smelling rooms. Patients were comforted whenever they were distressed + food looked good plenty of it. My husband's medical care has been excellent and well attended. He does
not always appreciate this but we as family do.

The care my husband, who has had a major stroke, has received at the Balmoral has been exemplary. Dedicated, skilled staff at all levels in all roles and responsibilities maintain a calm and very caring environment. They are always good humoured and patient in what can be challenging situations. I
am always greeted by name and with a smile, and staff somehow manage to seem never too busy to listen, to reassure. There is on going observation and monitoring of my husband's health and an impressively a rapid response to several potential emergencies that required hospital admission. Strategies that maximise opportunities to improve existing health issues have been developed. The Brasserie has been a delightful place for us to enjoy some quality moments together at an exceptionally difficult time.
The Balmoral team are providing outstanding nursing care to my husband and outstanding support - for which I will always be grateful -to myself.

Finding the perfect nursing home for my aunt started with one phone call. Such a friendly voice answered the phone and a visit was arranged. Two days later my aunt was visited in hospital by one of the senior staff which was lovely. I had 3 criteria visiting nursing homes. The smell; how cared for and
happy the residents looked; how engaged and communicative the staff were. The Balmoral exceeded my expectations and we had chosen her new home! Within 10 days, my aunt had moved from hospital to the Balmoral and has been so happy and settled there from day one. We were welcomed with afternoon tea and kindness and lots of laughter. All staff have shown such care, compassion and encouragement for joining in all the fun and varied activities which are twice a day! It's amazing. The Leadership and their visibility and involvement with staff, residents and visitors is the key to this incredible care home. Whatever you ask, it's like a magic wand, its done! Always done with smiles.

In February this year, my husband required full time care, having a long term terminal illness and dementia. We assessed several care homes, and found Balmoral to be the best for us. We are very happy with the care and attention he receives from all of the staff.
The staff make everyone very welcome
and they know all the regular visitors by name. All are made to feel very welcome in Balmoral.
Due to his condition, my husband has had several hospital visits. He is always accompanied by a member of staff who stays with him and brings him back.
He has settled in well and enjoys the facilities and activities in Balmoral.

The staff and management at Balmoral are amazing. My father was previously a resident in another Northcare Home and when it came time for my mother to also need care for Alzheimer's, it was wonderful that all our family were remembered by the owners, manager and many of the staff. The transition to
care was difficult for my mother to accept but her individual and challenging needs have been met with kindness, compassion, professionalism and endless patience over the last eight months. That care extends to family members too as we navigate our emotions at this time.
I receive regular updates and can talk to staff anytime I need. The facilities and activities are of a very high standard, with my mother gradually coming round to participation. It is incredibly reassuring that my mother is safe and well, thanks to every single member of staff in every role.

I continue to be delighted with the care my aunt is receiving at Balmoral Care Home. She is as happy as she can be - as a frail 90-year-old - and, more importantly, safe. I have always been impressed by the extent of communication between staff at the home and myself: I'm the Power of Attorney. And
the hospitality staff are just brilliant: it's lovely to be offered a glass of wine when I'm visiting!

It was with a heavy heart that I found myself in the position of finding a care home for a very dear, elderly friend, who has no family.
My spirits were lifted when I entered Balmoral.
The airy atmosphere throughout, and the beautifully appointed interior made me feel less anxious.
On a comprehensive
tour, I was able to see the amazing facilities. Meeting the staff, further confirmed my confidence in the high standard of care.
I felt an abundance of kindness flowing from every member of staff.
My friend has now been a resident at Balmoral for over one month and my expectations have become reality.
As a regular visitor now I am able to appreciate the excellent visiting facilities
The stunning brasserie coffee shop provides the perfect environment for visits.
I have also discovered the splendid range of activities. Recently there was a showing of a romance film in-house cinema which my friend loved.
I am so glad I found Balmoral.

At a very difficult time I had to identify somewhere for my relative to go after a lengthy hospital stay. On contacting the home the care manager arranged a visit. During the visit we were shown around and met with staff and other residents. We have all got to know each other over the past few months.
The staff on Braemar Suite are excellent they understand my relative's needs and I am reassured that she is being looked after to a very high standard. The senior staff are always available to talk through care plan and offer reassurance. The activities that are put on are varied and recently all residents and staff enjoyed a BBQ. All staff at Balmoral are professional and friendly from the minute you meet the receptionists to the housekeeping and catering staff they are all keen to support and make individuals stay as comfortable as possible.

Working internationally and having lived and worked in Edinburgh, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait and London, she then took up the position as front of house manager for Northcare in January 2025. With a strong background in customer service, business development, and resident relations, Kirsty excels at creating welcoming environments while driving occupancy growth within the home.


As a front-of-house manager, Kirsty is the first point of contact for residents, families, and visitors, ensuring a warm and professional experience from the moment they step into the care home. Her expertise in handling enquiries, coordinating tours, and managing administrative tasks helps streamline operations and maintain a high standard of service.

Martin

Martin McKee

Job Title: Executive Chef

Joined: 2019

A classically trained chef with a foundation in fine dining, Martin has dedicated his career not only to the pursuit of culinary excellence but to using food as a tool for care, comfort, and community.
His journey began in high-end restaurants, including a prestigious country house venue in England where he spent seven years refining his craft. During this time, He also embraced a new chapter as a family man, welcoming two of his three children while living down south with his partner and eldest son. In the restaurant, He was part of a team that catered weekly lavish weddings and special events, consistently delivering fine dining at scale.


Martin later took on a vital role at a countryside restaurant and deli owned by Lord and Lady Harriet and Gavin Hamilton. It was there that he was honoured to contribute a signature recipe to the cookbook Made in Shropshire—a publication featuring some of the county’s top chefs and establishments.


Following this, Martin was headhunted to become Head Chef at a high-end retirement home, which later transitioned into a care home. It was during this period that he discovered his passion for elevating food standards in care environments. His efforts were recognised when he was entered into the NACC Chef of the Year competition. He placed second nationally and was invited to showcase care home cuisine at a live cook-off at Birmingham’s NEC during the Good Food Show.
That same year, He began a two-year partnership with Tetley Tea as their brand ambassador.


He developed recipes and hosted themed afternoon teas, even welcoming Tetley’s mascot characters into our care home events. Our collaboration culminated in a Hydration Awareness Booklet designed to promote wellness in care environments, featuring a nostalgic recipe for each decade of the past 100 years.


In 2019, Martin returned home to Scotland to take up the position of Head Chef for Northcare Scotland. Despite the move, He continued his culinary competitions and won NACC Chef of the Year 2019, representing Northcare.


Since then, He has continued to advocate for excellence in care catering, working as a consultant for British Lion Eggs. Over the past three years, He has created 18 professional recipe videos and presented live on-stage at the Nottingham Food Expo, where I re-created my winning dessert.
In 2025, He was deeply honoured to be invited to the 25th Anniversary of the NACC at the House of Lords as a celebrated former champion.


He has also had the privilege of working alongside and learning from some of the leading voices in the care catering sector, including Preston Walker and James Ball. Through them, Martin has been trained in IDDSI (International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative) food standards and remain committed to promoting safe, nutritious, and dignified meals for all.

Nicole Stewart

Job Title: Unit Manager

Nicole has been with Northcare since 2014, Progressing from Care Assistant to Senior Care Assistant to her current position as Unit Manager in Balmoral Care Home.


Nicole has great pride and commitment to her unit, both in the hard-working, caring staff and for the residents who call it home. As the Unit Manager at The Balmoral Care Home, she brings over 10 years of experience in health and social care. In this role, she oversees the daily operations of the unit, ensuring that our residents receive compassionate, person-centered care in a safe and nurturing environment.

Laura has been the Head of Hospitality at Northcare since 2022.


Laura is passionate about providing excellent customer service, Always ensuring that our residents receive the best possible experience. One of her favourite moments is when we organize large events that bring together families and their loved ones. It's incredibly rewarding for me to be part of those special moments. As the Unit Manager, Lynn brings over 7 years of experience in health and social care and oversees the daily operations of the unit, ensuring that our residents receive compassionate, person-centered care in a safe and nurturing environment. "I feel my job is so rewarding as I am able to provide a high level of care to each resident and support them on a daily basis."


"I completed a HNC/HND business administration course at college after leaving school but decided to have a go at caring in March 2018, at first, I wasn't sure if I would be able to do the job but look at the progress, I have made within the 7 years I have been with Northcare.
