My parents moved into the Winton Suites in early May and after one month the change in them has been remarkable.
My dad has Alzheimers (12/13 years) and my mum has Parkinsons (2/3 years). Our issue wasn't the level of care but the consistency of the care and the interest shown in them, wasn't of a
hugely high standard, unfortunately.
My mum and dad were spiralling, getting dad out of bed was a struggle, getting him into the shower even more difficult. And mum was just becoming more and more withdrawn

Since moving into the Winton Suites - they both have their sparkle back, of course it doesn't take away their respective illnesses - but the care in the Winton Suite, has been outstanding. Simple things, knowing their names, having a bit of football banter with my dad - time to chat with my mum and daily activities - that give them something to talk about, when we go in of an evening.
It is hugely, hugely reassuring to us as a family - that they are in good hands.
Thanks
Stewart

It is a huge decision to move/be moved into a care home and I can honestly say that I have no doubt my mother in is the best place possible. My mother has needed medical help on a few occasions since her admission and each time has been dealt with quickly, professionally and with great compassion.
I
cannot praise Winton Suites enough. The staff are second to none- the amazing Management Team, the Front of House Staff, the Nursing and care team, hospitality and cleaning and laundry staff. Every single one goes out of their way to make my mum and any visitors she has to feel as if nothing is too much trouble. I am in the privileged position that there are days I am told not to come in as they have such a fantastic activity schedule!
My mum is thriving and its thanks to her being here,

Our experience of Clarkston House Care Home, which is run by Northcare, has been extremely positive to date. They went out of their way to make my Mum's transition from hospital to their premises as smooth and as stress free as possible - both for my Mum and the wider family.
The care my Mum has
received in her first couple of months has been excellent and we feel that the staff have really gone out of their way to get to know my Mum and her needs. The home itself provides a really lovely environment which is comfortable, well laid out and beautifully furnished with lovely paintings and photos of local Glasgow scenes which provide lots of opportunities for reminiscing.
There are daily activities which residents can opt in or opt out of. My Mum really enjoys the dancing sessions and visits from the Therapets (dogs and occasionally a Shetland pony!).
My Mum enjoys the food which is home made on the premises and has put on weight since she arrived, which was much needed.

The facilities are outstanding but are equally matched by the care, compassion, respect and genuine interest shown by the experts taking care of residents. While our experience is only over a short period the expectations set when initially reviewing this home as a potential for my parents has been
evidenced from day 1. Being well settled works two ways not only in surroundings they were able to make their own but in the people interactions while doing so. Regular contact is maintained with family to ensure accurate and timely information is available. Nothing is too much trouble and we are as a family feeling our parents are safe and well looked after at all times. Long may this continue.
Reply from Greg Leat, Front of House Manager at Winton Suites by NorthcareDear Margaret,

Supporting residents to settle comfortably into their new home, whilst maintaining open communication with loved ones, is a key priority for us.

We greatly appreciate your kind comments regarding our facilities, staff and family communication. Your feedback will be shared with the team, who will be encouraged to know their efforts are making a difference.

Thank you for placing your trust in us. We look forward to continuing to provide the highest standards of care and support.

From the moment we walked through the reception doors at Northcare Residential Home, we were immediately impressed. Everywhere is so welcoming and beautifully presented. Every single member of staff we have been in contact with has been wonderful. So professional and caring.
The bedrooms within Northcare
are lovely and always immaculate - we feel it's like 'home from home'.
It's a pleasure to take my mother in law to the Brasserie when we visit and we are always surprised at the offers of delicious home baking and our choice of drinks.
We recently spent a delightful afternoon on the sun terrace, with a lovely glass of Prosecco. All courtesy of Northcare.
When it was her birthday, our family had a wonderful afternoon in the cocktail bar, where a delicious afternoon tea was provided.
Our experience with Northcare has been excellent, the staff keep us continually updated and we feel very reassured knowing my mother in law is being so well cared for in such lovely surroundings.

Excellent respite care provided to my aunt by the staff at Winton Suites. Full nursing assessment on admission and nurses took control of my aunt's medication. Nursing staff always happy to provide us with an update on my aunt's progress. Impressed with the professional care provided to my aunt, delivered
with warmth and patience during her 4 week stay. Facilities are second to none, more like a hotel. Feedback from my aunt was that the TV in her room had a fabulous picture but the remote control was a challenge. My aunt found the bed to be very comfortable and improved the quality of her sleep. Food was beautifully presented but portions were a bit too generous. Coffees and teas during the day (with freshly baked treats) were much appreciated! The Care Home Manager was very approachable and particulary helpful with the admission process, which had to be arranged at short notice.
Reply from Greg Leat, Front of House Manager at Winton Suites by NorthcareGood afternoon Geoff,
Thank you for taking the time to share your wonderful feedback.
We are delighted to hear that your aunt enjoyed her respite stay and that you were impressed with the care provided by our team. It is particularly pleasing to know that the nursing assessment, medication management and regular updates gave you reassurance throughout her stay.
Your kind comments about our staff's professionalism, warmth and patience will mean a great deal to the team. We are also pleased that your aunt found her room comfortable, enjoyed improved sleep and appreciated our facilities and refreshments.
Thank you for your feedback regarding the TV remote control and portion sizes, which we will take on board. We are also pleased that our Home Manager was able to support you with the admission process at short notice.
It was a privilege to care for your aunt, and we wish her all the very best.

My elderly mother stayed here for 5 weeks for a period of respite care. Throughout her stay, her care was outstanding, delivered by highly professional and attentive nursing and care staff. The spacious and luxurious environment, with a nice fresh atmosphere, light and airy bedroom and quiet, comfortable
seating areas made this a lovely place for her. Regular activities were available and she enjoyed participating in the ones she fancied. The extra amenities of a cinema and hairdressing salon on-site were very much appreciated, and whenever we visited we were able to use the brasserie, where charming staff provided coffee/tea/hot chocolate, and freshly baked cakes.
Overall I found Northcare Suites to be faultless from start to finish. This gives me great comfort, knowing that as my mother's care needs increase, she may eventually move in full-time to this facility, where I know she will be safe, happy and well cared for. To any of the staff who read this - thank you!

My mum made the decision to move into a care home, but one that isn't 'like a care home'. We thought we had our work cut out, until we walked into the reception area at Northcare Residences. Immediately met by lovely bright, fresh surroundings and a warm welcome from Angela at the Front Desk. On returning
with mum, she asked how soon she could move in! A very good sign! Sadly mums dementia moved on before a room could be offered to her, however from the first day all the staff greeted her by her first name as if they had already known her, put on an Afternoon Tea to welcome her, and truly made her feel welcome. It does take time for the residents to settle in (especially with dementia causing them confusion) and also for the family members to 'let go' of their duty of care. The staff have shown from the start so much care and understanding, that they are not just there for the resident, but also for the family. Mum has more visitors now than she did at home! Thank you to ALL staff!
Reply from Angela Reid, Front of House Manager at Northcare Residences StirlingThank you so much for sharing your experience and for your kind words and we are delighted that both you and your mum felt such a warm welcome from the moment you first visited Northcare Residences.

We understand that settling into a new home can take time, particularly when living with dementia, and we are grateful for your recognition of the care and understanding shown by our staff. Supporting families is just as important to us as supporting our residents, and we are honoured to be part of your mum's journey. We're especially pleased that your mum enjoyed her welcome afternoon tea and that she continues to receive support and friendship from the team.

We are very impressed with the care home. The building, decor and facilities are beautiful and maintained to a very high standard. The restaurant, cinema and hairdresser all help create a warm and welcoming environment, and the private dining room is especially lovely for family visits and celebrations.
Sam in hospitality goes above and beyond making everyone feel special.

The staff are attentive and genuinely try to make residents feel at home, there is a warm atmosphere throughout. Daily activities are varied, some could offer more engagement. Caroline, Erin and Ellie have supported mum building her confidence and trust.

We receive excellent service from the General Manager (Jordan), front of house (Darren), who are always approachable, professional and supportive.

The only area where we feel improvement could be made is the standard of the everyday resident meals, which could better match the otherwise very high standards of the home.

Overall, a first class cate home.

I have been very pleased with the care and support my mother receives at this care home. One of the things that stands out most is seeing the same familiar staff on a regular basis. It gives both residents and families reassurance, and it's clear that the team genuinely knows and cares about the people
they look after.
The staff are kind, patient, and attentive, and they always make time to keep me informed. Most importantly, I feel confident that my mother is in safe hands, which gives me real peace of mind. The home has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and I am grateful for the compassion and professionalism shown every day.

My Dad has now been living at Clarkston House for around 9 months and I could not be happier with the progress he has made since moving in. Obviously the dementia means his mental faculties are only going to deteriorate at this point in his life, but any decline has slowed significantly. Being part
of the community at Clarkston House has only been beneficial. He is also enjoying a much better diet, his weight has increased and he is overall looking healthier and happier. All the staff are fantastic and the old man could not be in better hands. A big thank you to everyone at Clarkston House.
Reply from Joel Maronda, Home Manager at Clarkston HouseThank you for your kind feedback. We are pleased to hear that your dad has settled well at Clarkston House and that you have noticed improvements in his wellbeing, nutrition, and overall presentation. It is also encouraging to know that he is enjoying life as part of the community.

We appreciate your positive comments about our staff and the care provided, and we will ensure this is shared with the team.

Standard of care is generally good. The food is of an exceptional high standard. There are variety of activities to opt in or out of. The lounges and public waiting area are welcoming and visually pleasing. Staff/carers are largely proactive and respond positively in the main. Staff work well as a team
and are approachable at all times.
