Found the staff very helpful, (could relate very well to people not of their age group).
Dietary needs were met successfully, as were medical needs when needed. Varied activities were present regularly when needed.

Northcare Suites Care Home

There is so much to recommend about Northcare Suites Care Home. The most important point is that the staff are very caring and friendly- not just to my Mother but also to all her visitors! An excellent GP practice covers Northcare Suites for medical needs. The facilities are extensive because there
is a cinema, a hairdresser, a private dining room (to celebrate birthdays) and a brasserie, to which you can take your relative for the best shortbread in Edinburgh (and other cakes). There are plenty of activities for the Residents, such as visiting singers, chair based exercises and even trips out. The view from the Brasserie to Edinburgh castle and the Pentlands is superb! The staff go the extra mile for special days, such as Mothers' Day and the Summer Barbecue. Sara B.
Reply from Kirsty Summers, Northcare at Northcare Suites Care HomeThank you so much for your thoughtful and detailed review. We're truly delighted to hear how happy you are with the care mum receives at Northcare Suites.

It means a great deal to our entire team that you've highlighted their kindness and friendliness-not only towards residents but also visitors. Creating a warm, welcoming environment for everyone is something we care deeply about.

We're also pleased that you've been able to enjoy the facilities with your mother, from the brasserie (we agree-the shortbread is a favourite!) to the private dining room and activities on offer. It's wonderful to know that the events, outings, and special celebrations like Mother's Day and our Summer Barbecue make a positive difference.

Thank you again for your kind words and for taking the time to share your experience. It's an absolute pleasure to support mum and welcome you whenever you visit.

After a lengthy stay in hospital, our dad arrived at Northcare Stirling in April 2025. He was confused, scared and anxious. On arrival, he was gently welcomed, we were reassured he would settle. Initially we would phone for updates between visits. We soon realised that wasn't necessary, he was being
cared for in the best possible environment. He settled extremely well, and we knew that we had made the best possible care choice for him.  It was lovely to see the friendships and interactions develop between dad, fellow residents and staff. He enjoyed visits to the brasserie, and loved the cakes so much!. We cannot praise or thank enough the entire Northcare team for the care given to our dad. Sadly, we lost dad early February 2026, and the dignity and care shown to him and us that day was heartwarmingly appreciated. There was genuine emotion and heartfelt support for us. The most poignant moment was when staff gave dad a wee guard of honour as he left Northcare. Thank you. x

We were very apprehensive about moving my mother in law into a care home in this area. We should never have been, staff are all excellent, nurses, carers, hospitality, housekeeping. Angela and Robert nothing is ever too much trouble. Staff have been proactive with my mother in law's health and medication,
again nothing too much trouble. My mother in law has settled in great. Having worked in adult care myself I would have no issues recommending 100% this fabulous homely home.

From the moment we walked through the front door, we had a good feeling. Choosing a care home is difficult and emotional, but the staff were wonderful with us and mum. They took time to listen to our requirements, mum's likes and dislikes, and were kind and empathetic to mum as she transitioned from
home. Nothing was too much trouble. We are now 2 years down the line and feel that mum is well and truly part of the Balmoral family. We are grateful to all the staff for the care they provide and, more importantly, the manner in which they provide it. The nursing staff, healthcare support workers, hospitality, front of house, housekeeping are all truly amazing people and treat mum with such dignity, respect and compassion. We feel confident knowing mum is in good hands. There's never a dull moment, Balmoral have a full schedule of activities which residents can choose to take part in. Mum is not so keen on the dancing, but will happily have a wee prosecco! We would 100% recommend.

From the start, the welcome we received, a wee lunch provided for my sister and I was very much appreciated. The family are delighted with the care my uncle receives. The staff are fantastic and couldn't be more helpful, from spending time with him to getting him ready quickly for a wee trip to the
coffee shop.

The areas are very clean and well cared for, with plenty space for his belongings and specialised chairs.

There is good communication between the home and myself which puts my mind at rest.

Overall, we are all very happy with Lindsayfield Lodge.

Northcare Suites Care Home

from Martin M (Son of Resident) published on 13 April 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
Overall my parents experience was very good with one or two very minor things which could be improved (they didn't score it 5 but thought it closer to around 4.8 out of 5).

My parents found it difficult to control the temperature in their rooms, as the control was in a poorly lit part of the room

and was difficult for them to move and control.

No waste paper bin in the room (other than in the bathroom).

The potential of the garden area was not exploited to make it more stimulating and seemed underused by the residents.

Most days the food was very good but on the odd occasion it didn't quite meet expectations.

No books available, which would have been a nice addition.

As stated, the above were the very minor issues and overall they enjoyed their stay and would recommend the care home to anyone.

I was concerned at first that my 90 year old mother would have trouble settling in.
I needn't have worried. She is happy, content, has made friends quickly and looks forward to the daily activities.
The staff are lovely, very attentive and caring. I know that she is safe and being well cared for.
The nursing staff look after her many needs and keep us well informed. She is eating better than she could on her on ( with carers) at home and is much happier within herself.

The Executive Suites is a bright, clean, warm and friendly environment for my Dad. The staff are exceptionally kind and caring. They always go above and beyond for my Dad, they treat him like one of their own family and are very patient and affectionate towards him. Knowing he is being cared for by
such lovely people means the world to me and their positive attitude has done wonders for my Dad's wellbeing. Staff are very on the ball, with any medical concerns addressed quickly with the doctor. The range of classes from Sacha's music therapy to Donn's dance class mean there is always an activity for Dad to take part in when he's able. Dad's favourite is all the lovely food, he seems to have a constant supply of sweet treats which he loves. Getting to know the fabulous staff of the Executive Suites - everyone from cleaning staff, to carers, to nurses - and seeing Dad interact so happily with them all has felt like such a ray of sunshine during a difficult time for our family.

Mum spent two weeks respite in Northcare Suites with a view to staying there permanently. She loves the home and the staff and has very happily chosen to stay. Her room is beautiful with the most amazing view. The staff have made her feel so at home and very quickly have got to know her likes, dislikes
and interests. It was a big decision for mum and the family to move her from the home she has spent so many years living in but, seeing how happy and well cared for she is, we all know we have made the right decision.
We as a family are delighted with the care, the surroundings and the welcome we get when visiting. Thank you to all involved

It was a big decision for us to move our Mum from another care home, where she had been resident for some years. It has been an extremely positive move for her. In Mum's words, 'Everything is better'. The home has a relaxed atmosphere and is tastefully furbished in a style which reminds Mum of her
own home. It feels more like a quality hotel than a care home. The staff are kind and caring and take time to get to know our Mum and what is important to her. Jordan the Manager is very present and impressively aware of what goes on in the home. Any concerns have been addressed quickly and appropriately by senior staff. Ellie and Jenna are particularly impressive. I've told my children that if I get to the stage when I can no longer look after myself, I would like to live there!

I love that Northcare Suites is so far removed from people's perception of a carehome. It's total luxury and feels like a beautiful hotel. I can't thank the staff enough for everything, everyone of them have done, for my uncle since he moved in. From the management to the domestic staff. My uncle
really didn't want to move in to a care home and infact wouldn't even visit but the long story short is he has moved in, loves it and is very proud of his new home. His room has been substantially personalised to make it a better home from home.
I would recommend this for anyone. I hope this level of care and this amazing environment will be available for me when it's time.
Reply from Kirsty Summers, Northcare at Northcare Suites Care HomeThank you so much for your wonderful review Sue and for taking the time to share your experience with Northcare Suites. It truly means a lot to our whole team.

We're delighted to hear that your uncle has settled in so well and that Northcare Suites has become a place he feels proud to call home. Helping residents feel comfortable, respected and truly "at home" is exactly what we aim for, so it's lovely to hear that personalising his room has helped make the transition easier for him.

Your kind words about our team - from management through to our domestic staff - will be shared with everyone. They all work incredibly hard to create a warm, supportive and welcoming environment, and feedback like yours means the world to them.

Thank you again for your recommendation. We're so pleased that your uncle is happy with us and we look forward to continuing to support him.

Thank you very much,
Kirsty

Lindsayfield Lodge

My brother has Alzheimers and entered Lindsayfield lodge at the end of November. Since entering the home he has become mentally brighter and engages more now with family and with the staff. This is due to the wide range of activities on offer which my brother participates. The staff have been wonderful
in their care of my brother and with the other residents. There is good communication between the home and myself which is very reassuring. I am very happy that he is in Lindsayfield Lodge

3 Bridges Care Home

3 Bridges is a lovely Home with very caring staff who have made my mother's time there a pleasure. Issues are dealt with timeously and there is always somebody to lend an ear. My mother is now 98 and has been there since 2021. She has settled in very well after her quite different life in a sheltered
housing schem in Ilkley West Yorks.

It is our priority to ensure that all residents feel supported and valued, and we are pleased to know that we have been successful in this regard.

We appreciate your feedback and look forward to continuing to provide the highest standard of care and support for your mother and all our residents.
