Our experience of Clarkston House Care Home, which is run by Northcare, has been extremely positive to date. They went out of their way to make my Mum's transition from hospital to their premises as smooth and as stress free as possible - both for my Mum and the wider family.
The care my Mum has
received in her first couple of months has been excellent and we feel that the staff have really gone out of their way to get to know my Mum and her needs. The home itself provides a really lovely environment which is comfortable, well laid out and beautifully furnished with lovely paintings and photos of local Glasgow scenes which provide lots of opportunities for reminiscing.
There are daily activities which residents can opt in or opt out of. My Mum really enjoys the dancing sessions and visits from the Therapets (dogs and occasionally a Shetland pony!).
My Mum enjoys the food which is home made on the premises and has put on weight since she arrived, which was much needed.
Reply from Joel Maronda, Home Manager at Clarkston HouseThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are very impressed with the care home. The building, decor and facilities are beautiful and maintained to a very high standard. The restaurant, cinema and hairdresser all help create a warm and welcoming environment, and the private dining room is especially lovely for family visits and celebrations.
Sam in hospitality goes above and beyond making everyone feel special.
The staff are attentive and genuinely try to make residents feel at home, there is a warm atmosphere throughout. Daily activities are varied, some could offer more engagement. Caroline, Erin and Ellie have supported mum building her confidence and trust.
We receive excellent service from the General Manager (Jordan), front of house (Darren), who are always approachable, professional and supportive.
The only area where we feel improvement could be made is the standard of the everyday resident meals, which could better match the otherwise very high standards of the home.
Overall, a first class cate home.
Reply from Darren McGrory, Business Support Manager at Northcare Residences, GlasgowWe are delighted to hear how impressed you have been with the home, our facilities, and the warm atmosphere created by our team. We will ensure your feedback is shared with them, as recognition like this means a great deal to our staff. Thank you for your comments regarding activities. Within our monthly activity programme, we offer a wide range of engaging classes and events including yoga, MorphFit, Dancing with Donn, floral arranging workshops, fitness classes, entertainers, live music and many other activities throughout the month. We continually review our programme to ensure there is something to suit a variety of interests and abilities. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the everyday resident meals. We take all comments seriously and will ensure this is passed on to our Head Chefs, Tony and Darren, who work alongside the senior team to review the resident dining options and continue striving to deliver the highest standards across all aspects of the home.

I have been very pleased with the care and support my mother receives at this care home. One of the things that stands out most is seeing the same familiar staff on a regular basis. It gives both residents and families reassurance, and it's clear that the team genuinely knows and cares about the people
they look after.
The staff are kind, patient, and attentive, and they always make time to keep me informed. Most importantly, I feel confident that my mother is in safe hands, which gives me real peace of mind. The home has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and I am grateful for the compassion and professionalism shown every day.

My Dad has now been living at Clarkston House for around 9 months and I could not be happier with the progress he has made since moving in. Obviously the dementia means his mental faculties are only going to deteriorate at this point in his life, but any decline has slowed significantly. Being part
of the community at Clarkston House has only been beneficial. He is also enjoying a much better diet, his weight has increased and he is overall looking healthier and happier. All the staff are fantastic and the old man could not be in better hands. A big thank you to everyone at Clarkston House.
Reply from Joel Maronda, Home Manager at Clarkston HouseThank you for your kind feedback. We are pleased to hear that your dad has settled well at Clarkston House and that you have noticed improvements in his wellbeing, nutrition, and overall presentation. My mother had a 10 day period of respite at Clarkston House following a short hospital stay. She was greeted warmly with staff introducing themselves by their first name. Her room was well-furnished, warm and bright. We initially thought she may require a 'hospital' bed but the mattress and pillows
were very comfortable. She was very well-attended by nursing, care and domestic staff. She wasn't feeling well enough to take advantage of the programme of activities however she benefitted from the visiting hairdressers.
Reply from Joel Maronda, Home Manager at Clarkston HouseThank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback about your mother's respite stay at Clarkston House. We are delighted to hear that she was made to feel welcome from the moment she arrived and that our team helped create a warm, comfortable and supportive environment during her recovery. It is especially pleasing to know that the care, nursing, hospitality , hairdressers, and domestic staff attended to her needs so well and treated her with dignity and kindness throughout her stay. It was also lovely to see your mother send a card to one of our staff members whom she felt went above and beyond to make her stay at Clarkston House such a positive experience. It was equally wonderful to hear during our follow-up call that she is continuing to do well. Thank you again for your thoughtful review and for trusting Clarkston House with your mother's care. We wish her continued recovery and good health.

On looking for a Care Home for my Aunt over 3 yrs ago we chose Clarkstonhouse Care Home after seeing others who were abysmal. The staff treats every client as if they were their own family.
The Care and attention she has received is absolutely amazing. It is like a family atmosphere. All staff are
exceptional and nothing is too much trouble.
I would not look any further than here to look after my loved ones.

As a family we dreaded mum moving from her own home to residential care and anticipated it to be traumatic for all of us.
Due to mum having vascular dementia she was at the stage she did not recognise her own home so once the move happened she settled well with the help of all the staff and I know
she finds comfort from having physical and emotional support day and night.
She thought at first we were on holiday and she was staying in a hotel, which helped relieve our feelings of guilt.
The day before her admission we were able to visit her room, sort her clothes, make up the bed with her own bedding and take her pictures and ornaments to make the room more familiar to her.
She has now been in Clarkston House for 6 months and comments daily about the beautiful flowers and her lovely furnishings (she thinks the flowers are real and the furnishings her own) - a happy world to be in.
The hard decision of handing over the care of a loved is immense but her needs are met on every level.
Reply from Joel Maronda, Home Manager at Clarkston HouseThank you for your lovely review and for trusting us with your mum's care during such an emotional transition. We understand how difficult the move into residential care can be, and we are delighted to hear that she settled well and feels happy, comfortable, and supported at Clarkston House. It is wonderful to know that personalising her room with familiar belongings helped make it feel reassuring and homely. As a family-run business, one of our priorities is ensuring that residents continue to live in an environment that feels familiar and meaningful to them. Seeing your mum comfortable in a space personalised with her own treasured belongings truly reflects our values, ethos, and vision. Family is at the centre of everything we do, and creating a sense of belonging and comfort for both residents and their loved ones is incredibly important to us. Your kind words about our staff and care mean a great deal, and we are grateful to be part of your mum's journey.

Our mum moved into Clarkston House in March.
We could not be happier with the care both she and our family have recieved.
Every member of staff we dealt with have been patient, caring, empathetic and adaptable to our mum's needs and have done everything possible to support her settle well. Led by the
care home manger who is caring, approachable and professional, all of the nursing and care team and housekeeping and catering team have been amazing.
While personal nursing care was the most important consideration for our mum, the environment is welcoming, clean and well furnished and walking into Clarkston House feels luxurious while also being welcoming and comfortable.
It is a difficult and emotional decision picking the right place for a loved one. The entire team at Clarkston House have made this process easy and stress free. I can without doubt say this is exactly the right choice for our family.

The home is spacious, bright, modern and well appointed. Dad was very particular about some aspects of his daily routine and the staff were brilliant at accommodating these. His room is lovely - plenty of space, his own pictures quickly put up on the wall, and additional hand rails fitted in the en
suite wet room to help with his mobility. Great to be able to open a window. Really friendly staff who make an effort to get to know him. Food took a little while to settle into a routine but this is working better now and he regularly reports on meals that he has enjoyed. He feels a huge relief and very positive about his move - we're delighted and very grateful to all the staff who continue to support him. Jordan (as manager) in particular has been excellent in communicating with us and my Dad, and helping to make things work so well. Many thanks.

It was a big decision for us to move our Mum from another care home, where she had been resident for some years. It has been an extremely positive move for her. In Mum's words, 'Everything is better'. The home has a relaxed atmosphere and is tastefully furbished in a style which reminds Mum of her
own home. It feels more like a quality hotel than a care home. The staff are kind and caring and take time to get to know our Mum and what is important to her. Jordan the Manager is very present and impressively aware of what goes on in the home. Any concerns have been addressed quickly and appropriately by senior staff. Ellie and Jenna are particularly impressive. I've told my children that if I get to the stage when I can no longer look after myself, I would like to live there!

Despite it being a relatively short time since my sister became a resident, I am delighted at how quickly she has settled in to Northcare Residences. Her room has quickly become her new 'home' thanks, in part, to her being able to have a few of her own possessions with her, which she still
uses on
a daily basis.
There is a calming atmosphere throughout the Home, which is beautifully furnished throughout.
The staff are very caring, supportive and treat my sister with respect at all times.
The Home provides a great variety of Activities so there is something for everyone to enjoy.
The rest of her family and I are relaxed in the knowledge that our sister is being well looked after in Northcare Residences.

I cannot fault the care that my Dad has received at Drumby. He moved in after having to be hospitalised with the flu and was uable to return to his home. His illness had taken a severe toll on his health and he was a shell of his former self, but with the help and care from EVERYONE at Drumby he is
now thriving. The building itself is a beautiful environment to live in, but it's the people who have made the difference. The management and staff have gone above and beyond to ensure Dad has settled in and have accomodated his specific needs to make his stay the best experience it can be. I can now go back to being his daughter, spending quality time with him in the knowledge that he is safe and happy.
Reply from Craig Moody, Head of Client Relations at Northcare Residences, GlasgowThank you so much for taking the time to share this - it truly means a great deal to our whole team. Your kind words about our staff and management will be shared with the team - they will be incredibly proud to know the difference they've made for your Dad and for you as a family. Being able to return to simply being his daughter and enjoying quality time together is so important, and we're honoured to be able to support you both in that. Where to begin describing the care, standards and environment that Northcare have provided for Mum and Dad - and for me. We had a truly horrific experience with their previous care home leaving us stranded and without care. Northcare stepped in and went above and beyond to help us rehome and settle
them. Many care homes will tell you they accommodate dementia patients without proper training which is not the environment that dementia sufferers should be in. The extra training in dementia support that Northcare have had is so apparent in how considerate, intuitive, understanding and kind the staff are. Very simple things like understanding how to create a really special environment for residents and family has such a positive affect for dementia patients that can last for days. In these moments I get the best of Mum and Dad and we all come away feeling loved and light. My Dad said the other day that he understood that the staff at Northcare were his other family. Mine too. Thank you
