I have been very pleased with the care and support my mother receives at this care home. One of the things that stands out most is seeing the same familiar staff on a regular basis. It gives both residents and families reassurance, and it's clear that the team genuinely knows and cares about the people
they look after.
The staff are kind, patient, and attentive, and they always make time to keep me informed. Most importantly, I feel confident that my mother is in safe hands, which gives me real peace of mind. The home has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and I am grateful for the compassion and professionalism shown every day.

My Dad has now been living at Clarkston House for around 9 months and I could not be happier with the progress he has made since moving in. Obviously the dementia means his mental faculties are only going to deteriorate at this point in his life, but any decline has slowed significantly. Being part
of the community at Clarkston House has only been beneficial. He is also enjoying a much better diet, his weight has increased and he is overall looking healthier and happier. All the staff are fantastic and the old man could not be in better hands. A big thank you to everyone at Clarkston House.
Reply from Joel Maronda, Home Manager at Clarkston HouseThank you for your kind feedback. We are pleased to hear that your dad has settled well at Clarkston House and that you have noticed improvements in his wellbeing, nutrition, and overall presentation. It is also encouraging to know that he is enjoying life as part of the community.

We appreciate your positive comments about our staff and the care provided, and we will ensure this is shared with the team.

My mother had a 10 day period of respite at Clarkston House following a short hospital stay. She was greeted warmly with staff introducing themselves by their first name. Her room was well-furnished, warm and bright. We initially thought she may require a 'hospital' bed but the mattress and pillows
were very comfortable. She was very well-attended by nursing, care and domestic staff. She wasn't feeling well enough to take advantage of the programme of activities however she benefitted from the visiting hairdressers.
Reply from Joel Maronda, Home Manager at Clarkston HouseThank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback about your mother's respite stay at Clarkston House. We are delighted to hear that she was made to feel welcome from the moment she arrived and that our team helped create a warm, comfortable and supportive environment during her recovery. It is especially pleasing to know that the care, nursing, hospitality , hairdressers, and domestic staff attended to her needs so well and treated her with dignity and kindness throughout her stay. It was also lovely to see your mother send a card to one of our staff members whom she felt went above and beyond to make her stay at Clarkston House such a positive experience. It was equally wonderful to hear during our follow-up call that she is continuing to do well. Thank you again for your thoughtful review and for trusting Clarkston House with your mother's care. We wish her continued recovery and good health.

On looking for a Care Home for my Aunt over 3 yrs ago we chose Clarkstonhouse Care Home after seeing others who were abysmal. The staff treats every client as if they were their own family.
The Care and attention she has received is absolutely amazing. It is like a family atmosphere. All staff are
exceptional and nothing is too much trouble.
I would not look any further than here to look after my loved ones.

As a family we dreaded mum moving from her own home to residential care and anticipated it to be traumatic for all of us.
Due to mum having vascular dementia she was at the stage she did not recognise her own home so once the move happened she settled well with the help of all the staff and I know
she finds comfort from having physical and emotional support day and night.
She thought at first we were on holiday and she was staying in a hotel, which helped relieve our feelings of guilt.
The day before her admission we were able to visit her room, sort her clothes, make up the bed with her own bedding and take her pictures and ornaments to make the room more familiar to her.
She has now been in Clarkston House for 6 months and comments daily about the beautiful flowers and her lovely furnishings (she thinks the flowers are real and the furnishings her own) - a happy world to be in.
The hard decision of handing over the care of a loved is immense but her needs are met on every level.
Reply from Joel Maronda, Home Manager at Clarkston HouseThank you for your lovely review and for trusting us with your mum's care during such an emotional transition. We understand how difficult the move into residential care can be, and we are delighted to hear that she settled well and feels happy, comfortable, and supported at Clarkston House.
It is wonderful to know that personalising her room with familiar belongings helped make it feel reassuring and homely. As a family-run business, one of our priorities is ensuring that residents continue to live in an environment that feels familiar and meaningful to them. Seeing your mum comfortable in a space personalised with her own treasured belongings truly reflects our values, ethos, and vision. Family is at the centre of everything we do, and creating a sense of belonging and comfort for both residents and their loved ones is incredibly important to us.
Your kind words about our staff and care mean a great deal, and we are grateful to be part of your mum's journey.

Our mum moved into Clarkston House in March.
We could not be happier with the care both she and our family have recieved.
Every member of staff we dealt with have been patient, caring, empathetic and adaptable to our mum's needs and have done everything possible to support her settle well. Led by the
care home manger who is caring, approachable and professional, all of the nursing and care team and housekeeping and catering team have been amazing.
While personal nursing care was the most important consideration for our mum, the environment is welcoming, clean and well furnished and walking into Clarkston House feels luxurious while also being welcoming and comfortable.
It is a difficult and emotional decision picking the right place for a loved one. The entire team at Clarkston House have made this process easy and stress free. I can without doubt say this is exactly the right choice for our family.
Reply from Joel Maronda, Home Manager at Clarkston HouseThank you for your kind and thoughtful feedback. We are delighted to hear that both your mum and your family have had such a positive experience at Clarkston House.

I was at Clarkston House last Sunday and needed a form completed regarding Council Tax. When I was leaving I met Robyn, who was on her day off. I told her what I needed and said I would send my husband back up on the Monday. Robyn insisted on taking it there and then and I got my response on the Monday.
My
Aunt has been with you for just over a year and Robyn has always been very friendly and helpful, nothing seems to be a bother for her.

I live in Australia and recently travelled to the UK to support my Uncle as he transitioned from his own home into Clarkston House.
I am very impressed with Clarkston House and the care they provide my Uncle.
Front of House Manager and Home Manager have been wonderful in supporting my Uncle and assisting
me in navigating the complexities of the UK Care Home system.
The facilities are well appointed and clean.
Security is good.
Staff are well mannered, kind, and have a sense of humour. It's nice to see my Uncle having a good laugh with the lovey people supporting him.
The service contracts are well written and easy to understand.
Invoices are prompt and no hidden costs.
In my brief stay in the UK I spoke with the friendly locals and they had positive feedback about Clarkston House, this was comforting to know it has a good reputation in the community.
I wasn't there to see any Activities but the Newsletter provided an overview of the activities available to my Uncle.
Reply from Joel Maronda, Home Manager at Clarkston HouseThank you for sharing your thoughtful feedback. Clarkston House is an amazing place. Comfortable, clean surroundings and lovely atmosphere from the minute you go in the door. The staff are exceptional and they are the ones that make Clarkston House so special. My mum was admitted after a long hospital stay and was in a terrible state. The staff here
have given her kindness and care and nursed her back to health. The food provided is excellent and she now eats well and has put on weight. Every single member of staff that Ive met has been friendly, helpful and welcoming. They make a difficult situation so much better.

Experience of care home is good , I am a bit concerned of the turn around in staff, My dad had got know some staff well but now they have been relocated to other care homes and feel he's not getting the same attention as before, in general all staff are friendly and supportive in dealing with my dad's
condition and needs.
Reply from Robyn Cooper, Administrator at Clarkston HouseThank you vey much for the positive feedback. We fully appreciate your comments regarding turnover of staff. We have retained all staff within the business and we have opened a new care home locally which have supported staff progression which results in relocation of some staff. My mother has been in the home for 10 years since having a stroke. She arrived from hospital and is part of the furniture. She was still running the company before the stroke so we thought it would have been difficult for her to settle, however she was made welcome and settled immediately. Only one
issue, the moving of staff around the organisation is difficult for her after she has made great relationships with them.
Reply from Jill King, Manager at Clarkston HouseThank you for taking the time to leave a review, we really appreciate all feedback! It's wonderful to hear that your mother has felt so welcomed and settled at Clarkston House over the past ten years. We truly value the relationships our residents build with our team, and we understand how important continuity of care is, especially when strong bonds have been formed. While staff movements can sometimes be necessary within the organisation, please be assured that we always strive to maintain consistency and familiar faces as much as possible.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Clarkston House is based on 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10, which has been reached with 33 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
