Care Homes Owned by Northcare Scotland Ltd in City of Edinburgh

My dad who has Parkinson's and Parkinson's related dementia has been a resident since April 2026. I Cannot recommend this care home facility enough. The staff all go above & beyond expectations for their residents and their families. The facilities that they offer are fantastic and I would say they could give any five star resort hotel some competition. From the accommodation to the setting, available facilities and all the activities that are available are all second to none. My dad is cared for extremely well, he is happy and very settled after a traumatic start to this year. I Cannot recommend this Care home highly enough.

From the very first phone conversation. I was impressed by the professionalism and friendliness in the way I was treated. My enquiries were met with well-informed, empathetic responses that both clarified and put me at ease. The first visit was extremely reassuring and my sister and I were were very impressed by the facilities on offer for our father. However, more than the impressive facilities, we were struck by the friendliness, compassion and professional expertise from every single member of the team at Winton Suites. We came away with no doubt in our minds, that this would be the safest, calmest but most stimulating place of residence to meet all of Dad's needs, through to the end of life care. We have already seen a rapid improvement in Dad's cognitive function and social interactions since moving into Winton Suites a few weeks ago. He is more like the Dad of old, smiling and conversing, enjoying the wide range of activities as well as delicious food that is on offer.

So glad to have our dad living there.

We looked at several homes this stood out from the rest the welcome we received was professional and careing all our questions answered in a timely manner we felt supported at all times. All the staff including reception, housekeeping, carers ,Nurses and hospitality staff are all attentive at all times it seems to be a well run home.

A very good service, with professional and caring staff. Only comment is to have a more regular schedule for the hairdresser and nails/toenails. This was noted at the review.

We thought it looked pricier than other homes, but having visited many it's genuinely worth it. I can't recommend it highly enough.

My elderly mother decided to move into North Care on a permanent basis after experiencing 3 weeks respite care. She had been so impressed by the care she had been given that she knew this was where she would like to live. The staff are all very kind and attentive to her needs. Also the staff keep me informed if there are any changes to medication or health issues. The Home is very luxurious and is more like a 5 star hotel. The cinema, brasserie and hairdressing salon on the top floor are a great facility for the residents. Mum enjoys many of the activities on offer which helps to keep her stimulated. Mum's room has spectacular views of the castle and the hills which for her is just like home from home. I am delighted that Mum made the decision to move into North Care.

From the first, families are welcomed and every effort is made to listen to and respond to requests. Communication, so important, especially during stressful times has been prompt and helpful and nurses have been quick to liaise with other health services when needed. Above all, it is clear that establishing good relations with residents is a key priority in this home. Staff are more than well trained professionals; they are caring. Our thanks to you all.

It id the first time I have accessed this type of support for my dad and I would have absolutely no hesitation in returning to Winton in the future. My dad thoroughly enjoyed his stay!!

If this is the sustainable standard, I won't be looking anywhere else.

I cannot praise highly enough the attention my mum & dad are receiving from the wonderful staff at the Winton Suites. Adjusting to new routines, environment & faces is huge for both mum & dad & our family but from the management to housekeeping the Winton Team have been truly fantastic with the attention to detail & the level of care. We are extremely impressed with the facilities & the food delicious. Each & every member of staff have made my mum & dad feel at home & have made all the family welcome & embedded in life at the Winton. A huge big thanks to each & everyone of the amazing staff.

My mum and dad were spiralling, getting dad out of bed was a struggle, getting him into the shower even more difficult. And mum was just becoming more and more withdrawn

The facilities are outstanding but are equally matched by the care, compassion, respect and genuine interest shown by the experts taking care of residents. While our experience is only over a short period the expectations set when initially reviewing this home as a potential for my parents has been evidenced from day 1. Being well settled works two ways not only in surroundings they were able to make their own but in the people interactions while doing so. Regular contact is maintained with family to ensure accurate and timely information is available. Nothing is too much trouble and we are as a family feeling our parents are safe and well looked after at all times. Long may this continue.

The staff were very friendly and attentive and strived to cater for individual needs. The interior decor of the home is beautiful, and the ambience is bright and positive. The food was very good, and food preferences were catered for. A positive experience all round.

Excellent respite care provided to my aunt by the staff at Winton Suites. Full nursing assessment on admission and nurses took control of my aunt's medication. Nursing staff always happy to provide us with an update on my aunt's progress. Impressed with the professional care provided to my aunt, delivered with warmth and patience during her 4 week stay. Facilities are second to none, more like a hotel. Feedback from my aunt was that the TV in her room had a fabulous picture but the remote control was a challenge. My aunt found the bed to be very comfortable and improved the quality of her sleep. Food was beautifully presented but portions were a bit too generous. Coffees and teas during the day (with freshly baked treats) were much appreciated! The Care Home Manager was very approachable and particulary helpful with the admission process, which had to be arranged at short notice.

Overall I found Northcare Suites to be faultless from start to finish. This gives me great comfort, knowing that as my mother's care needs increase, she may eventually move in full-time to this facility, where I know she will be safe, happy and well cared for. To any of the staff who read this - thank you!

Transferring my 86-year-old Mum from another care home was a real risk I would never have considered, were it not for her strong desire to return to Edinburgh and how exceptional Northcare Suites appeared. Within just over a week, it has absolutely exceeded every expectation.

The facilities are luxurious yet wonderfully homely, but what truly sets Northcare Suites apart is the people. Without exception, every member of staff we encountered was kind, polite, friendly and genuinely caring. From the front of house team to the those who bring morning and afternoon tea with a cheerful smile, it has been a model of quality and efficiency.

If considering Northcare Suites from a distance, as I was from the other side of the world, the reality lives up to the promise. The improvement in Mum's happiness and wellbeing speaks for itself, and I feel completely confident leaving her in their care.

There is so much to recommend about Northcare Suites Care Home. The most important point is that the staff are very caring and friendly- not just to my Mother but also to all her visitors! An excellent GP practice covers Northcare Suites for medical needs. The facilities are extensive because there is a cinema, a hairdresser, a private dining room (to celebrate birthdays) and a brasserie, to which you can take your relative for the best shortbread in Edinburgh (and other cakes). There are plenty of activities for the Residents, such as visiting singers, chair based exercises and even trips out. The view from the Brasserie to Edinburgh castle and the Pentlands is superb! The staff go the extra mile for special days, such as Mothers' Day and the Summer Barbecue. Sara B.

Overall my parents experience was very good with one or two very minor things which could be improved (they didn't score it 5 but thought it closer to around 4.8 out of 5).

My parents found it difficult to control the temperature in their rooms, as the control was in a poorly lit part of the room and was difficult for them to move and control.

No waste paper bin in the room (other than in the bathroom).

The potential of the garden area was not exploited to make it more stimulating and seemed underused by the residents.

Most days the food was very good but on the odd occasion it didn't quite meet expectations.

No books available, which would have been a nice addition.

As stated, the above were the very minor issues and overall they enjoyed their stay and would recommend the care home to anyone.
