Northcare Residences, Glasgow

Mum has been a resident since May 2026. Mum has dementia and was struggling to live at home independently. Ahead of Mum moving to Northcare my family and l including Mum had several visits, we discussed Mum's care needs and value of promoting Mum's independence. Staff created a care plan for Mum, the care plan is regularly reviewed and updated. Communication skills between staff and family are very good. We have found staff to be very approachable and supportive towards Mum and our family. All of the staff including nursing, house keeping and catering staff all know Mum by name. There are activities everyday of the week so mum can join in as she likes. We are getting to know some of the other residents and their families and there are always lovely conversations when we are sitting in the lower ground cafe. We are delighted with the care our mother is receiving.

Since Dad arrived at Northcare Residences his general demeanor, attitude and overall personality has improved greatly. I feel that having company and stimulation all day has improved his mood and he genuinely seems much happier. He still believes he is there on a temporary basis and I will continue with that approach whilst I can. The staff have all been extremely kind and helpful to both dad and myself and I feel our time together is quality time now with the stress of caring for him being removed. He does struggle with the tv in his room and can't operate it so looking at ways round it as he still likes the peace of his room and watching sport and animal programmes. I will probably look at installing a television broadcaster once I have managed to finalise the details of the sale of the property. I arrived last week and dad told me he had been taken to the local pub with another resident and had a drink and chips and he thoroughly enjoyed it.

Northcare care homes were recommended to me by my Mum's dentist when I was looking for respite care for her last year. She has this month enjoyed another week of respite care at Northcare Residences where I can be confident she will be safe and well-cared for. Visitors have also enjoyed the home's hospitality in the spacious basement restaurant.

Our family could not be happier with the care my mother has received at Northcare Residences. Being a family-owned care home truly makes a difference. There is a genuine warmth throughout the home, and everyone treats the residents with the kindness, respect, and compassion you would hope your own family would receive.

The staff are exceptionally knowledgeable, friendly, and caring. They take the time to get to know each resident personally and go above and beyond to make everyone feel valued, safe, and comfortable. It is evident that they genuinely love what they do.

The accommodations are beautiful, welcoming, and impeccably maintained, creating a lovely place to call home. We are also so impressed by the wide variety of activities offered every day, which keep residents engaged, active, and socially connected.

As a visitor I look forward to coming here and sharing the lovely environment whilst catching up with my parents. Every space is fantastic, classy and comfortable. I look forward to joining them in some of the brilliant activities Northcare arrange every morning and afternoon.

We are very impressed with the care home. The building, decor and facilities are beautiful and maintained to a very high standard. The restaurant, cinema and hairdresser all help create a warm and welcoming environment, and the private dining room is especially lovely for family visits and celebrations. Sam in hospitality goes above and beyond making everyone feel special.

The staff are attentive and genuinely try to make residents feel at home, there is a warm atmosphere throughout. Daily activities are varied, some could offer more engagement. Caroline, Erin and Ellie have supported mum building her confidence and trust.

We receive excellent service from the General Manager (Jordan), front of house (Darren), who are always approachable, professional and supportive.

The only area where we feel improvement could be made is the standard of the everyday resident meals, which could better match the otherwise very high standards of the home.

Overall, a first class cate home.

Overall the team have ensured an enjoyable and smooth settling in period for my uncle. All staff have been excellent and attentive to his needs. Excellent amenities and service since his arrival. My uncle is very happy with his new home and the overall support he gets.

The home is spacious, bright, modern and well appointed. Dad was very particular about some aspects of his daily routine and the staff were brilliant at accommodating these. His room is lovely - plenty of space, his own pictures quickly put up on the wall, and additional hand rails fitted in the en suite wet room to help with his mobility. Great to be able to open a window. Really friendly staff who make an effort to get to know him. Food took a little while to settle into a routine but this is working better now and he regularly reports on meals that he has enjoyed. He feels a huge relief and very positive about his move - we're delighted and very grateful to all the staff who continue to support him. Jordan (as manager) in particular has been excellent in communicating with us and my Dad, and helping to make things work so well. Many thanks.

It was a big decision for us to move our Mum from another care home, where she had been resident for some years. It has been an extremely positive move for her. In Mum's words, 'Everything is better'. The home has a relaxed atmosphere and is tastefully furbished in a style which reminds Mum of her own home. It feels more like a quality hotel than a care home. The staff are kind and caring and take time to get to know our Mum and what is important to her. Jordan the Manager is very present and impressively aware of what goes on in the home. Any concerns have been addressed quickly and appropriately by senior staff. Ellie and Jenna are particularly impressive. I've told my children that if I get to the stage when I can no longer look after myself, I would like to live there!

The rest of her family and I are relaxed in the knowledge that our sister is being well looked after in Northcare Residences.

I cannot fault the care that my Dad has received at Drumby. He moved in after having to be hospitalised with the flu and was uable to return to his home. His illness had taken a severe toll on his health and he was a shell of his former self, but with the help and care from EVERYONE at Drumby he is now thriving. The building itself is a beautiful environment to live in, but it's the people who have made the difference. The management and staff have gone above and beyond to ensure Dad has settled in and have accomodated his specific needs to make his stay the best experience it can be. I can now go back to being his daughter, spending quality time with him in the knowledge that he is safe and happy.

Where to begin describing the care, standards and environment that Northcare have provided for Mum and Dad - and for me. We had a truly horrific experience with their previous care home leaving us stranded and without care. Northcare stepped in and went above and beyond to help us rehome and settle them. Many care homes will tell you they accommodate dementia patients without proper training which is not the environment that dementia sufferers should be in. The extra training in dementia support that Northcare have had is so apparent in how considerate, intuitive, understanding and kind the staff are. Very simple things like understanding how to create a really special environment for residents and family has such a positive affect for dementia patients that can last for days. In these moments I get the best of Mum and Dad and we all come away feeling loved and light. My Dad said the other day that he understood that the staff at Northcare were his other family. Mine too. After only a month our Aunt has settled in extremely well and I believe this is in no small part to the level of care and support that has been tailored to meet her individual needs. The surroundings and facilities are first class. It's reassuring and comforting to know that as a family our Aunt is in such good hands.

I have nothing negative to say about this care home. My mother has been with them a number of weeks now and they have consistently excelled in their approach and attention to detail. The setup staff and management all seem to be working as a team to ensure the very best care for their residents.

Our mum does not have enough mobility to make full use of services and activities, but she is exceptionally well cared for and her whole family, pets included, are always welcomed by staff and management alike.

Wide variety of imaginative activities to interest residents

My Mum moved into Northcare Residencies followong a stay in hospital. I'm sure, like many others, she was reluctant to embrace her new home. However, all staff, without exception, have made her feel very welcome and encouraged her to participate in the many activities on offer. She is treated with compassion, understanding and respect at all times and has settled in well. She has a lovely relationship with many of the staff who all go above and beyond to bring a smile. The standard of the care home itself is exceptional and as a family we are delighted with the progress my Mum has made since moving here.

This was the best experience ever for my husband who was very well looked after. When he came home he was more attentive with things that were going on and just seemed more interested which is great. I'm sure this was all to do with the attention and mixing with others all thanks to Northcare. As for me as my husbands carer I had a very good break. Can I make a suggestion as it was best I didn't visit it would be good to get some feed back from the care home as it is impossible to get any information from the person with dementia.I would have liked to hear how he past some of his time and if he joined in with others. To finish I am very happy I made the good decision to have the respite and especially to an excellent care home like Northcare and would certainly want to do it again.

I am extremely impressed with the care that my parent receives. All staff display excellent, people centred skills and values. The way they all interact with my dad is absolutely excellent. I am delighted that he is in this care home.

I have been very happy with the care my husband has been shown since he went into care. I feel all the staff know him well, exactly how he like his breakfast and all his little foibles. He is very pleased with the food and I am pleased with the cleanliness. He has been encouraged to take part in the activities.
