Sadly my husband was only in Boclair Care Home for 4 weeks prior to his death. During that time he was treated with loving care by all members of staff, nursing, ancillary and administrative. That care extended to myself and my daughters and to the end w? were treated with love, respect and utmost
kindness. I could not have asked for more and I thank them all with all my heart.
Reply from Karlynn Wheelan, Home Manager at Boclair Care HomeThank you very much for such kind words, It was an aboslute please to care for your lovley husband and to get to know your family in this time. I will share your feedback with the wider team.

The rooms, cleanliness, facilities, and activities are all excellent & the resident benefits from all these aspects. On the whole staff are very kind, patient & care well for the resident's needs; however staffing ratios in the unit could be improved to attend to needs (e.g being taken to toilet) more
quickly. Food could be tailored better to individual resident's needs.
Reply from Karlynn Wheelan, Home Manager at Boclair Care HomeThank you for your feedback. I am pleased to hear your positive comments regarding the environment, facilities, activities, and the kindness and dedication of our staff.
I acknowledge your comments regarding staffing ratios and responsiveness, particularly around supporting residents with time-sensitive needs such as assistance to the toilet. We currently utilise a robust dependency assessment tool, which has been positively recognised by the Care Inspectorate, to guide our staffing levels and ensure we are meeting residents' needs safely and effectively. That said, we always welcome and value feedback, and your comments will be carefully considered as part of our ongoing review of staffing levels and deployment.
I also note your feedback regarding food and individual preferences. Providing person-centred care is a key priority for us, and I will share this with our catering and care teams to ensure we continue to tailor meals as much as possibe to individual residents' needs.

As a family we are delighted to have found such an amazing care home for our mum. We struggled initially with the idea of our mum having to go into Boclair after spending so long in her own home, but the care, compassion, empathy and friendliness of every single member of staff has been far beyond
our expectations. Our mum is really settled and is extremely happy with every aspect of the home.
Boclair has a great atmosphere and vibrancy and the staff are always charming, friendly, engaging and polite. They take time to get to know the residents and it's obvious they take great pride in their work and ensuring the welfare of the residents is their main priority.
I can thoroughly recommend Boclair for anyone thinking of long term care for their relatives.
Reply from Karlynn Wheelan, Home Manager at Boclair Care HomeThank you for this lovely feedback, it is great to hear that you feel mum has settled so well in our care. It is an absolute pleasure to care for your mum and to get to know yourselves as a family. Feedback will be shared with the team who work directly alongside mum.

Mum decided to stay in the care home full-time after four weeks of respite. She settled quickly and is enjoying the company and all the activities available to her.
Boclair is a lovely care home and the staff are amazing. It is a huge relief to me that Mum is so well cared for.

My Mum spent 18 months in Boclair Care Home before she died in December. Our experience was VERY varied.
The surroundings are indeed of a high standard but this does not take the place of good staff to resident ratios particularly during the night, consistent standards of care, good communication
between management and families, lack of empathy or permanent solutions when concerns are raised Sadly in our experience Boclair wasn't very good in these areas.
I would prefer to tick unsatisfactory rather than poor but this isn't a review option.
Boclair makes HUGE statements but sadly we didn't experience what was promised.
Reply from Ian Marshall, Regional Director at Boclair Care HomeThank you for sharing your experience, and I am truly sorry for the loss of your Mum. I am saddened to read that your time at Boclair did not reflect the standards or values we strive to uphold, particularly around consistency of care, communication, and how concerns were addressed. We use a dependency-based approach to guide our staffing levels, which is reviewed as part of our regulatory oversight; however, I fully recognise that this does not always reflect how support feels in practice for residents and families.
I appreciate you taking the time to share such honest feedback, and I would genuinely welcome the opportunity to speak with you to better understand your experience and learn how we can improve. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention.

I have pleasure in submitting this review for Boclair Care Home. Mum has now been a resident for five months Initally Mum struggled to settle in as she thought her stay was to be temporary, after four months Mum realised that allthough her choice would be to be back in her own home, due to her failing
health this would no longer be possible and the care home was the best place for her continued wellbeing.
She has a spacious well appointed room where she can have some personal items such as pictures of family and keepsakes.
The value of the warm welcome she received from the staff and managment should not be underestimated and this went a long way to relieve the anxiety she felt when first arriving at Boclair. The nursing staff, carers, laundry, domestic, catering and hairdressing services are all first class and could not be better. There is also a visiting optician, dentist and chiropodist which provide great service to the care home residents.
Reply from Laura Hagan, deputy manager at Boclair Care HomeThank you very much Diane for your kind words. Its is a pleasure to provide care and support for your mum. I will share this review with the whole team. Best Wishes Karlynn + Laura

I feel very fortunate to have found Boclair to look after my Aunt during the final two years of her life. She settled in incredibly well, helped by the happy atmosphere about the place and displayed by every member of staff from the managers on down. The facilities always felt like a 5* hotel and she
never had any complaints about the quality of the food. There were always a variety of activities for those that wanted to participate, which was encouraged whenever possible. Above all however the standard of care was always exceptionally high with great respect shown during her final weeks.

Dad has been resident in Boclair carehome since January 2025. He's settled in so well which is reassuring & heartening to see. The staff are incredibly good & patient with Dad's needs, & are also extremely welcoming & approachable to us as family members.
There are so many unsung heroes amongst the
staff, it's unfair to single anyone out for a special mention. Each of us enjoys spending time with Dad at Boclair because the feel of the place is homely, relaxed & caring. Karlynn & Laura (management) are just brilliant. They make everyone feel important, & bring alot of kind humour too. The carers & nursing staff are really lovely & the wider staff, activities staff & entertainment, hairdresser, behind the scenes catering & laundry are all superb.
The standard of accommodation & food is excellent. What is clearly most valued is resident centred care, & that really shows in the approach & overall atmosphere at Boclair.

Boclair Care Home was the perfect place for Mum to enjoy some much-needed respite. From the warmth on display during the initial assessment to the welcome when settling in, there was a very personal and personable approach throughout. The quality of the home and mum's room in particular was first class,
with lots to do (optionally) between meals, which were varied and nutritious. There are also lots of breakout rooms for peace and quiet - plus when the weather is good, the outdoor spaces are fantastic. Mum enjoyed her stay - so much that she returned for a second spell of respite. Highly recommended. Thanks to all the team.

Dad was transferred from hospital to Boclair Care Home for end-of-life care. This was primarily to enable Mum and Dad to be cared for in the same place during his final days as they had never been apart in their sixty-nine years of marriage. Mum was in Boclair for respite care during Dad's time in hospital.
We, as a family, will always have a deep sense of gratitude to the management team (particularly the then-manager) for speedily facilitating Dad's transfer to Boclair when it became obvious that he required a greater level of nursing care. This was carried out quietly and efficiently by staff who showed real understanding of what is important in a person's final journey. They also cared for Mum and us, as a family, with compassion and empathy. After Dad died, Mum became a full-time resident and continues to have excellent care within the 'Boclair family'. We remain thankful to have found such a welcoming environment for Mum to be part of and warmly commend the services and care at Boclair Care Home.
Reply from Alan Twigg, Regional Manager at Boclair Care HomeThank you so much for sharing your experience and we are very fortunate to have a very kind and dedicated team who take great pride in caring for your loved one ensuring that they are supported and treated with dignity and respect. Incredible service since my gran moved here in 2023. The staff have been excellent and shown a high level of care. They are super personable and have gotten to know my gran (and us, as a family) really closely. Three-course meals at lunch and dinner, excellent activities and engagement. The standard
is more like a five-star hotel than what I would have imagined from a care home! Thank you for everything you do.

My mother suffers from dementia and initially was being cared for in another nursing home. However, she did not settle well and we quickly knew we had to find an alternative home where she would get the kind of care she needed. We were so fortunate to find Boclair Care Home. Since she moved there, she
has thrived in every way. The staff and management could not be more caring. The concern they show to Mum is heart-warming. Their approach to caring for all their residents is outstanding and it’s a joy to visit the home and see all the smiling faces, both residents and staff. Mum has not been this happy in many years. We are so grateful to everyone who made this care home a special place.

Making the decision to move Dad into a care home was an emotional one for our family however thanks to the manager and the wonderful team of staff at Boclair, we haven't looked back! Gradually we saw Dad's personality, sense of humour and a little twinkle in his eye come back! He began to eat properly
and his overall health generally improved. He felt safe, secure and above all, respected and cared for. There is always something going on every day thanks to the hard-working, creative activities team and many seasonal celebrations to enjoy. Dad is a reluctant participant but is gently persuaded to join in those that the staff know he will enjoy, and he does! He particularly loved the recent Burns Supper and a trip out to the local church for a Scottish music celebration.
My family and I have nothing but praise for every aspect of Boclair Care Home and the staff have become like family too when we visit. Thank you, team Boclair.
Reply from Maxine Kinnoch, Home Manager at Boclair Care HomeThank you for taking the time to comment, we very much appreciate your feedback, our core principles are kindness and care. My uncle's recent move to Boclair Care Home has been an incredibly positive experience. The facility, resembling a beautifully styled show home, exudes warmth and comfort. The excellent amenities, from communal spaces to individual rooms, reflect a commitment to high standards. What truly sets this
care home apart is the remarkable staff. The care manager and team have been sensitive to the emotional challenges of transitioning to a care home, ensuring a smooth process for my uncle.
