My Dad came to live at Bowesbury initially for respite but having been there for a number of weeks he decided he wanted to stay. Sarah and her team were extremely helpful and caring and made my Dad's move an easy and happy transition. Seeing my Dads health improve over the following months have confirmed to us this was the correct and safest move for Dad. The home has a lovely relaxed atmosphere and all of the staff are always helpful, caring and understanding to each residents individuals needs. Trying to navigate care and support for a parent with a recently diagnosed complex health issues is hard to deal with in itself. The team at Bowesbury truly understood mine and my brothers needs for our mum. Returning back to UK from living in Spain added to the complexity. But the team supported us through these unchartered waters. Their flexibility to help us solution the care for mum was excellent and pragmatic. We know that we were a unique case, but that didn't phase them. It's an adjustment for anyone to deal with and especially mum. The facilities and staff at Bowesbury are great, what a lovely place. My Dad goes to the Daycare sessions (10am to 6pm) so that he can socialise in an environment where he is safe and supported. During the day he does a variety of activities which have included exercise classes (to his capability level) and games sessions. He has also had his hair cut and has had the chiropodist visit during his day there. The staff are friendly and interested and have really taken the time to get to know him, his background and interests to engage him accordingly. My Dad loves spending the day there.
