Calm friendly feeling when entering the unit instantly tells you this is a safe pleasant environment for people to be cared for. Staff busy about their work but always happy to answer and update on any questions or queries. Family are also kept aware of incidents outside of visits for peace of mind.

My dad has been a permanent resident at Carders - Brookfield for over 2 years now. As a family we was anxious about dad going into 24 hour care and looked at several other care homes prior to making our decision. Since my dad has been a resident in Brookfields he has recieved the best care we could
have wished for and overtime his dementia has worsened and health needs have changed, however the staff at Brookfield have always adapted the care he needs and tailored his care for his changing needs. The staff always provide the best care and are so attentive. As a family we feel 100% reassured that he is now in the right place and recieving the best care. We cannot thank Brookfield enough. Thanks so much.

My father has now been in full time care at Brookfield House Dementia Care Home for just over 3 months.
It was one of the hardest decisions the family had to make admitting Dad into full time care but I have to say he has been made to feel very welcome and looked after by all the staff in a caring
and professional manor.
The staff have also made our family feel more at ease with the toughest decisions we have had to make.
Thank you.

My brother has dementia, and resides at Brookfield House. The staff and management, both care for and look after the residents to a high standard. The staff members are always very welcoming when I visit and very genial.
In my opinion, the rooms should be upgraded, although very clean etc, I think
they are a bit dismal.
In general, I think that my brother is being well cared for, although, no doubt problematic at times, he can be a bit demanding of attention. Nonetheless, the care and attention he receives from the staff is nothing but very caring and professional.

Party planner organised a birthday party for my mother-in-law - she never stopped making sure everyone was involved and enjoyed themselves, cake, singer and usual decorations included. She is obviously loved by the residents. Felt very comfortable and inclusive. All the staff were involved and made
everyone happy.

We called into the unit unannounced and we were given a tour of the unit and shown the vacant room. Great care was taken in establishing the needs of my mother and we felt confident that they would be met. This indeed proved to be the case. All the staff were very friendly towards us and were very professional
and caring in their manner towards my mother. If there were ever any issues we were always informed promptly; we were happy with the timely and appropriate response to any questions or situations.

I can't fault any of the staff, very caring and Dad is always well presented and cared for. Rooms are a bit basic, but for the time spent in them, are adequate. We are always advised when Dad has had a fall and updated on what treatment if any, was required.

My mum is cared for really well here. Staff have taken the time to build a relationship with her that goes beyond her medical care. She is helped to feel safe and it makes a huge difference to our family knowing that she is cared for. Despite being busy, the staff always take the time to make sure we
understand what is happening.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.602)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.602) out of 10 for Brookfield House Dementia Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.702 for Brookfield House Dementia Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (76 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 104 Ratings = 4.702
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brookfield House Dementia Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
