My mum has lived at shaw house since 2022 ,she's very well cared for and I've never had a problem with one member of staff from management carers domestics they are all brilliant and I have the utmost respect for them all, with my mum's dementia she often gets confused and the staff always give her
reassurance and calm her down, the staff are definitely entertaining and hilarious and I always leave in a better mood than when I entered, I go to see my mum most days and never once have I left thinking anything other than she's definitely in the best place!

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Myself, my mother, and Lexi one of the carers visited the Pub for a meal out as a treat for my mother. The carers got my mum ready, chief amongst the Cloes, Nicky, and most of all Lexi, who accompanied us. She was good company throughout and was very pleasant. The next day, I returned to visit my mum
at Hampton, where we were amply provided for by Janet and the day staff.
My mother is being looked after very well; her needs are being met. However, some days are better than others for her because of the nature and severity of her illness. Despite this, she is responsive, and you can still have a conversation with her.
Reply from Lyndsey Rafferty, Home Manager at Hampton CourtThank you for your lovely review. We're so pleased your mum enjoyed her trip out and that our team could support the special visit. It's wonderful to hear she is being well cared for. Thank you so much.

The staff, amenities, and level of cleanliness at this care home are of exceptionally high quality. My mother has expressed a great deal of satisfaction with her experience and
has developed positive relationships with both staff members and fellow residents. Based on our experience, I can confidently recommend Arkwright as a comfortable and supportive environment for individuals seeking residential care.

Abbotsbury

from Helen H (Daughter of Resident) published on 14 April 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
I am delighted by the care and support my mum has received since moving to Abbotsbury in January this year.

As a family we have found the staff to be very kind, supportive, encouraging and they show mum wonderful respect and warmth.
Small things can mean so much and in particular I was very touched

that when I needed to take mum to a hospital appointment (her first time leaving the home since moving there) on return the staff member opening the front door said to mum 'welcome home' Just a couple of words but so kind.

Mum arrived in a very vulnerable position in her life. From the moment we contacted the home to now 2 months later I am delighted with mum's progress. She's a different lady. She laughs again, she's eating properly, joins in the activities which she was adamant she never would.

Karen, Andy and all the team are very supportive to both mum but also me. They knew how difficult this was for us as a family but their support has been wonderful.

Reply from Lyndsey Rafferty, Home Manager at AbbotsburyWe are truly delighted to hear how well your mum has settled into Abbotsbury. It means a great deal to the whole team to know that she is now laughing again, eating well, and engaging in activities she once felt she would never take part in.

Your kind words about the staff's warmth, respect, and encouragement are especially appreciated. It is wonderful to know this had such an impact on you and your family.

Your comments about Karen, Andy, and the wider team will be shared with them, as we know it will mean a great deal. Thank you.

The home is always clean and the staff welcoming. His room is excellent. He has a door to outside which is great as he has an electric wheelchair, and when spring comes her can go outside. The food has been hit and miss, and the quality could be better. Food prices are stabilising now, so residents
should see the results of this. Let's hope so.

My dad is a service user and this review is because my mum went into see him yesterday and his bedroom floor is a disgrace and not has his bedding changed and we have told so many times that my mum is doing his washing and they have lost 3 pairs of pyjamas and 3 towels and they know not to do his washing,
and everytime you need to speak to a member of staff there is noone around, I got recommended this home but it's not as good as they say, I'm going to complain to CQC about this
Reply from Alina Popescu, General Manager at Arden CourtThank you for sharing your concerns.

We are sorry to hear your mum was upset following her visit to see your dad. We understand how important it is to feel confident he is comfortable and well cared for, and we apologise that the presentation of his room caused concern. This has been discussed with the team to ensure standards are maintained.

Regarding clothing and towels, we understand how worrying it can feel when items seem to be missing. We have checked and can confirm that all towels are accounted for. As your dad's clothing is not currently labelled, it can sometimes be difficult to identify individual items. We have spoken with your mum and will continue to work together to avoid further confusion. Staff have also been reminded that your mum manages his washing.

We value feedback and remain here to listen and work together to support your dad's dignity, comfort and wellbeing
