My husband has been at Abbosbury for 8 months, and he is being looked after very well but he is hard work. He loves the food. I feel happy when I visit the home. We couldn't of picked a better home for him.

I have found the home to be excellent in that my husband has been treated with dignity at all times. The staff are excellent, as is the management. The overall manager couldn't have been more approachable and helpful if I have had any questions. I have been very courteously treated when I have visited
my husband, which has been frequently.

Delighted with everyone and everything at Abbotsbury. Staff are professionals, courteous, kind and approachable. The changes made are wonderful. The dining room looks fabulous. Each member of staff are wonderful, I couldn't name any in particular, the chef is very kind. As all staff go over and above,
makes or visits to our relative much easier and a more enjoyable experience. All angels.

All the staff at Abbotsbury Care are very caring, even to me, and I'm only a visitor. My partner is always treated with respect at all times. At first, she found it hard to settle, but with all the staff's help, it was soon sorted, and now she gets involved with activities.
She has a lovely bedroom
with good views, and the home is always spotlessly clean and warm. I recommend the home to anybody with welfare needs.

I just wanted to share my experience of Abbotsbury Care Home, Southport, where my wife is staying. It has been a very positive experience. The staff are lovely, kind, friendly and always happy to help. It is clear they really care about the residents, not just in a professional way, but in a genuinely
warm and personal way. It's such a relief knowing my wife is in good hands. The home is clean, cosy and doesn't feel clinical. The communication with the staff has been great, always happy to answer questions and provide updates. I would definitely recommend Abbotsbury to anyone looking for a safe and caring place for a loved one. It has made a big difference to our family.

We currently live in Norwich, it is difficult sometimes to work out the travelling time to meet visiting times.

We have got their latter than advertised, the staff could not of been more helpful.

A big thank you to one staff member in particular, and all the other great staff.

Thanks for looking

after our family member.

My husband went into Abbotsbury, it saved my life as he was very violent, they saved my life and I had a lot of help from staff at Abbotsbury. I can not thank them enough and one was my rock, she is a lovely person. I am sure he will be there because of staff but one is my favourite because I have watched
and she is very good with all the patients. I think she know her job and as I have said I feel very lucky for my husband to be there with good people. Thank you very much x

The staff at Abbotsbury are kind and caring generally. They treat the residents with respect which is always good to see. The food is mostly home cooked which again is a positive aspect and the cakes are delicious, the chef not only makes good food but also has a great relationship with the residents,
taking the time to chat. I feel that maybe there could be more activities provided but on the whole I'm quite happy with mum's care.

Our mum stayed at Abbotsbury Care Home recently for several weeks as an interim placement between hospital discharge and returning home. We found all the staff to be professional, helpful and friendly. This was Mum's first care home experience and as a result of the staff's excellent care and attention
she settled quickly and was very happy there. Mum and all the residents were treated with great care and respect at all times. My brother and I do not live local to Mum so communication through the staff was very important to us. They were always keen to let us know how Mum was getting on when we phoned and happy to facilitate Mum talking to us directly whenever we rang. We would be happy to use Abbotsbury again should Mum need a care home in the future

Having the pleasure of visiting my dear friend over Christmas was very reassuring. It was cheery, welcoming and although staff were away from their own families they treated the residents like their own. Smiles all around with a very inclusive atmosphere. There has been a lot of improvement recently.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.737)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.737) out of 10 for Abbotsbury is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 21 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.737 for Abbotsbury is calculated as follows: ( (198 Excellents x 5) + (41 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 251 Ratings = 4.737
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbotsbury is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 21 registered maximum number of service users is 4.2, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
